Chapter 14

2572 Words
Walking in the hallway at school everyday is typical but with Leslie beside me is somewhat feeling special. I swear, no dull moments with this girl, we can talk about anything and everything. She can effortlessly make me laugh by hearing her lame jokes and punch lines. And it looks like we completely forgot what happened in the car. Maybe Leslie did not really mean to tease me since she is straight and not attracted to girls. So, i should stop any malicious thought in every actions she makes because Leslie is a such a good friend and perfect girl to whoever she is going to love in the future. "Are you this funny?" I asked Leslie a little intrigued because she is kind of cocky today and it's really out of her character. "I'm sorry i was just-" "It's okay Lily," Leslie hugs her book against her chest while looking at the ceiling. "And to answer your question, not really." I saw a lopsided smirk in her lips. "Only with the right people, when i feel safe and comfortable." "So am i right to you?" The question is spontaneous, it just slipped off my mouth. Leslie wirthdraw her eyes from the ceiling and stared hard on my face. "More than just right and comfortable Lily," The smile on my face grew. "I could bare my soul to you and I know you wouldn't judge me," Her answer was deep and it felt like she wanted to say something more to me. Something that she was hiding for so long and something that made her vulnerable. Beside, i don't judge people based from their past. Heck, I'm not even perfect. Nothing is perfect, not unless your name is perfect. "What do you mean?" "Nothing Lily," Leslie smiled at me but i know it's just a cover up. "I only know that i can trust you," Her voice was flat. "Am i right?" Trust is one of the most expensive things in the world that you can't buy with money aside from love. Knowing that someone is given you their trust is such a wonderful feeling. It makes the connection between the two of you even stronger. "You can tell me anything Leslie," I told her. "Whenever you are ready," I will respect her privacy like she respected mine. We have all the time together. We will get to know each other even more and by that time, hopefully Leslie is ready to open up her heart to me. All of a sudden, my eyes drifted to the soccer field and noticed people scattered everywhere. Most of them were athletes, cheerleaders and some people carrying musical instrument. The atmosphere is festive, their faces were excited and happy. "What is happening?" I asked confused. Leslie instantly followed where i was looking at. "Oh, the cheerleading team has a practice. They are preparing for a competition on Saturday," "Oh wow!" I said in amusement. I'm not really a fan of that sport but let's admit it, cheerleading is the next big thing today, routines get more exciting and more creative every year. "Goodluck to them," "Indeed," Leslie looked over her shoulder. "More pressured for Creighton since we are the three time defending champions." "Three time defending champions?" This time my jaw dropped. Leslie's pretty face broke into a lovely smile makes my stomach to flipped. "Yeah, since Cameron came to the group." I was totally speechless. "So do you want to watch with me Lily?" Of course i want to show my support to the school, cheerleading team and most especially to Cameron. Yes i know we are both in complicated situation rigth now but she needs a moral booster tomorrow. "With you?" I asked Leslie with a raise eyebrow. "Of course yes!" Leslie bit her lip and blushed hard. It made me smile because of her cuteness. Again, we marched in the busy hallway in silent. The air leaves my lungs when i saw someone leaning against the wall across the locker. "Grey is waiting," Leslie told me as if im blind to see. "Talk to him," "Ha?" My ears filled blackness. "Where are you going?" Leslie pursed her lips while looking deeply at me. Is she jealous again because of Grey? I know that he likes him a lot but... "I'm going to the cafeteria Lily," "Wait," I grabbed Leslie's arm from stopping her to walk away. "We have class today, why are you going to the cafeteria? Are you ditching your class?" "Oh gosh," Leslie said with amused laugh. "So many question Lily," She shook her head slowly. "Well, no classes today Lily because we need to support our cheerleading group. It's mandatory." Leslie removed my hand from her arm. "Grey is waiting. I will see you later okay?" And before i could say anything she already far away from me. Wow, she walked so fast. "Hey Lily!" Grey waved at me excitedly. I took a huge breath while walking towards him. I can already guess what is the reason why his here and patiently waiting for me. This will be hard for me but like my parents said, always be honest and it makes life easier. "Good morning," I greeted him back. Grey looks tired, there is a dark gleam in his eyes. Maybe he didn't get enough sleep last night. "How are you? No basketball practice today?" Grey flashed me his famous smile that make all the girls weak in the knees except for me. "No training today because we need to give way for the cheerleading team." He gestured his head towards the field. "But im okay i guess," All of a sudden his smile turned into a straight line. "Lily, i will go straight to the point now." My heart dropped on my feet as i listened to him because i already know what he is going to say. "You know i like you- a lot," "Grey.." My face is riddled with guilt. Grey comb his hair with a trembled hand. "Let me finish Lily or else i won't be able to tell you what you needed to know," He sighed to release some tension in him. "I can't stop thinking of you since the day i met you Lily. Everything about you turns me on despite of your thick glasses and bangs still your beauty cannot be ignored, it is something unbelievable because it not only pleases my eyes but also warms my heart." Now my words can't be found. Error 404. "This is the first time that i have felt this way and im not sure how to handle everything," Grey seemed to choke on her own breaths. What he told me makes me sad even more. Is there any way to end this? I honestly did not want to hurt Grey because he is a nice guy but giving him false hope is a huge crime. "Grey, i don't know how to say this..." I started off. My voice is even shaking. "But i want to be true to you. You are a nice guy-" "That you don't like me," Grey supplied in a very dissapointing voice. "I knew it Lily," He tried to smile but his eyes betrayed him. "I'm sorry if i..." "No," I grabbed for his hand, he didn't recoil from me. "You don't have to say sorry Grey," He focuses on the floor and completely hiding his face to me. "There is nothing wrong with what you said," "But it is wrong to like someone who does not like me too." Grey whispered, suppressing an exasperated sigh."I'm perfectly f**k up!" "Hey, there is nothing wrong to like or love someone who just isn't into you," I told him truthfully and look deep into her eyes. "Unrequited love changes us for the better." We stared at each other and i tried to smile to comfort Grey. If there is anything i can do to make him feel better i would do it. Sometimes i wanted to go back to the past, where the only problem to was sleep in the afternoon when mother wanted me to and the only reason why i was crying was because of my wounded knee not brokenheart. "But we can still be friends right Lily?" Grey asked me, this time he looks kinda better. "Of course!" I agreed happily. "You are still the first person i met here Grey and that will always be special to me," After giving Grey some comfort words and assured him that we could still be friends after i rejected his feelings for me. I looked for Leslie around the school especially in the cafeteria but she is nowhere to be seen. That girl always disappear and when i got tired walking, i decided to sit under the shaded tree. There were some people did the same but they are in group or couple but me? I'm alone. Also this is the perfect spot to watch the cheerleading training. Hopefully, i will get a chance to talk to Cameron so i can give her the magazine. I spent my first five minutes admiring their uniforms, very sexy and those legs. I want to mentally slap my face by perverting over them but you know let's be gay sometimes. It seems like the world smile down on me when Cameron came into my view. She is doing a routine as a flyer. Cameron is standing, one or more bases holds her up by the foot and she balances weight on her straightened right leg. Cameron grabbed her loose foot and bended it upward behind her body until the toes are close to the back of her head. It's a scorpion's tail position. The streaming lights behind Cameron make her more stunning. Her hair is perfectly comb in a pony tail, her skin was like silk over glass and she radiated as her eyes freckled with stars. All people who are watching right now were captivated by her beauty. I can't blame them though because she is truly a sight to behold. "Beautiful isn't she?" My body froze instantly when i heard the voice speak next to me and i already know who it was. For all people, why Aerin? Is she following me? Why this b*tch can just leave me alone. Whatever her reason is, i won't give her the satisfaction to upset me. Always be a bigger and better person. "Yeah," My throat felt tight. "The routine is good," Aerin took a sip from her cup of soda. "Oh please, don't act like you don't know what i was talking about." Irritation is evident in her voice. Seriously, this girl has anger issue. "Cameron is not for you to flirt," "I'm not flirting with anyone," I told Aerin without looking at her. She is flirting with me not me but i can't say that because it will make the Queen Bee even angry. "I'm not stupid to believe you nerdy, i know what's happening to you with Cameron and Grey." This time, i turned and looked up at Aerin. Yes, there is no doubt that she is perfectly, undeniably beautiful but her attitude is a total crap. "I don't want fight with you," Aerin smirked. "Why? Are you scared?" Scared? She is not Pennywise for me to hide and definetly not Anabelle for me run. I was just avoiding drama with her or anyone here at school because i don't want to disappiont my parents. Slowly, i grabbed my bag and silently stood up, If avoiding fight is being coward so be it. "Hey! We haven't finished talking yet!" Aerin screamed at me when i walk pass her. She grasped my arm and spun me around making me come face to face with the ferocious Queen Bee. "Don't you ever turn your back to me!" "Aerin, don't-" My world seems to stop and the ground shook under my feet when Aerin threw the cola together with the cup on my face. I don't know how supposed to react or what to say because i was shock of what happened. People stopped of whatever they are doing and watching us in astonishment. Aerin stood in front of me with the biggest stupid smile plastered across her face. Feeling satisfy of her art work. "You never learn nerdy, how many times do i have to do that to you? Twice, thrice?" "Aerin!!" Cameron rushed to us and stood between me and the Queen Bee. "What happe-" She gasped when she saw me then returned her attention to Aerin with so much anger and disappointment in her eyes. "What the f*ck did you-" Cameron is out of words. "Oh my gosh, i couldn't believe this!" "It's her fault Cameron," Aerin said. "If she-" Cameron snapped at grabbed Aerin's arms almost hurting the Queen Bee. Her eyes were burning like she can turned Aerin into dust. "What is wrong with you Aerin!" "You are hurting me Cameron!" Aerin cried out. Cameron took a little time to slowly released the arm of Aerin. "I have been patient with all your bullshit Aerin because we are f*cking friends since the beginning of time." Cameron whispered harshly in gritted teeth. "But im so f*cking tired of seeing you doing stupid things!" Though Aerin looks scared but still managed to composed herself. "Really Cameron?" She give Cameron a crudely angry stare. "You can't fool the hell out of me!" "What the hell are you talking about!?" The green eyed girl asked without blinking. "You really thought i never know Cameron?" She didn't glance at me. "That nerd is flirting with you and Grey!" "Stupid," Cameron murmuned with a shake of her head. "Am i wrong?" Aerin questioned. "Lily is not and never flirt with me nor Grey!" Wow, they are talking about me as if i was not here. "You don't have the right to embarrass and humiliate Lily just because she doesn't want to fight you. That's so freaking low Aerin." Aerin grimaced but it didn't stop Cameron talking. "I thought you would change but look at yourself now? I longer know you. You are not the old Aerin i know," "I have changed!" Aerin laugh hysterically, we noticed tears started to pool in her eyes. "But you didn't see that," Her eyes urges to hides her own hurts. "Because you are so blind to see, too numb to feel that i freaking love you!" All of us witnessed how broken the look of the invincible Queen Bee. Her walls were crumbling down by being vulnerable in front of Cameron. "All people here knew that i f*cking love you!" What Aerin says clogged my throat as i looked at Cameron's face luminescent like a silver. It took a moment for her to fully digest everything. "Aerin..." Cameron is struggling to speak. "This is not a good joke," The Queen Bee squeezed her eyes shut just to hold more painful tears. "How i wish i was only joking Cameron," Her voice croaked. "So i won't feel this pain everytime you flirted with other girls, everytime you taken me for granted and every freaking time i saw you looking at her," Aerin is talking about me. "With stars in your eyes!" Cameron didn't say anything but looked at Aerin. "I hate that i f*cking love you!" Aerin sneered before turning around and pushed people away. "Get out of my f*cking way."
