CHAPTER 11. Marnie's Condition

It was almost 3 days after Marnie's major surgery. She had undergone exploratory surgery as she had a huge abdominal injury that caused the removal of almost half of her intestine and one kidney. She was still in a coma and her parents almost broke down upon seeing how their beloved daughter had been injured.

Marnie had never been harmed since she was a kid. Being an only daughter of the Castello's, she had been spoiled and almost provided with everything.

Her stubbornness to run away from home and try her luck living in the city of Manila was her biggest decision ever. Her parents especially Mrs. Castello was against it but they can't contain Marnie's decision.

Seeing her almost lifeless body on the hospital's bed with so many tubes and drips inserted into her body, her father Mr. Castello can't help but to cursed himself for allowing her to stay away from them She shouldn't be lying in front of them right now.

"Wake up my princess," Mr. Castello was softly touching Marnie's arm with so many tubes and needles inserted. He was crying while caressing her.

"We will go home when you recover. We will play horseback riding with your elder brothers. Wake up," Mr. Castello used to talk to her every time he was allowed to visit her inside the ICU.

He wiped off his tears and emotionally looked at his daughter again before leaving the ICU room. The image of his jolly and smart daughter was far beyond the lady laying on this hospital bed right now.

Mrs. Castillo almost lost her consciousness when she saw how her beloved daughter looked like a vegetable ill person in front of her right now. She was her precious gem.

They haven't seen their daughter for almost two days since her surgery had lasted for about 24 hours before she was transferred to an Intensive Care Unit. This was the first time they'd seen her and was so deeply heartbroken. How can the princess suffer like this? She doesn't deserve to be hit like this.

"Dad, when Marnie woke up. I will no longer nag and harsh her," Mrs. Castello told his husband while caressing the cold arms of Marnie. She wanted to comfort her daughter with lots of tubes inside her body.

"Shhh! Your daughter loves you so much. She doesn't mind your nagging at her. She told me last time when she went home with us that she missed you nags and your voice so much," he told his wife. He knew how she loves their daughter so much. Sometimes others misunderstood her since she wasn't showy of her love and affection with Marnie. But he knew she loved and treasured their daughter so much.

Mrs. Castello hugged her husband so tight. She was so blessed to have him as her husband and the father of her their three children. He used to balance the harmony of their family.

They've stayed a few more minutes in the ICU since visiting hours will only last for about a maximum of 20 minutes only. They went back to the VIP room being reserved for them. The two elder brothers of Marnie decided to go out to buy some food and other groceries since they will be staying they for a while.

"We will just buy some food outside Dad, Mom," just have some rest ok, "Andrew said, the eldest one.

"Okay, please take care," Mrs. Castello said to them.

"Thanks, Mom. We will also check Marnie's car at the police station as well as the footage on the said incident," Charles told them.

Mr. and Mrs. Castello didn't dare to look at Marnie's car. They knew that her car was totally damaged and it's indeed a miracle that she survived.

"Marnie is such a good child and she won't leave us that easily. The Lord will give her back to us," Andrew said to their parents before they left them.

It was so hard for them also see how the youngest sibling looked like now. Their jolly and favorite little sister whom they used to bully but love so much was so helpless laying on an ICU bed. They can't accept the fact that the one lying on the bed was their little sister.

Marnie was still in a coma and her scheduled procedures were rescheduled once again since she needed to be awake before they conduct another procedure with her to avoid complications.

Doctor Michael and his co surgeons took care of round-the-clock rounds and monitoring on Marnie. every single improvement and development had been reported to Doctor Michael. He wasn't going and sleeping in his condo since Marnie was hospitalized. He rather stayed in his private clinic and rest there to closely monitor her.

Marnie wasn't just her patient, she was so special to Doctor Michael.

They love her so much. They will no longer allow her to work after her recovery. They will take care of her 24/7 already.

Both brothers were overprotective with Marnie when she was still living with them.

Doctor Michael visited Marnie in the ICU again. He requested a private nurse to be the one who will exclusively take care of and do bed bathing for Marnie. He doesn't want anybody to touch her especially male nurses. He hired a private nurse for her who will report all the improvements and everything about her.

"How was she?" he asked the nurse.

"Still the same Doctor. No development yet. A guy named Arthur visited her his morning Doctor," she said.

"Okay. Did Marnie's parents see him?" he asked.

"No Doctor. They were both inside the VIP Room that time," she reported.

"Okay. Please clean Marnie. Do a bed bath with her and ensure that all needles and tubes were still in place. I don't want to see any bruises on her body okay," he gave instructions to the nurse. He wanted her to bed bathe her carefully.

He wanted her to feel comfortable even if she was still in a coma. He caressed her cheeks, It became thinner. He lost a big amount of weight already.

"You will be fine my dear. You will be well," he said to her lovingly.

He left the ICU room.

He hadn't seen that tears were flowing down from her eyes. When the nurse is bathing her, she saw it and reported it to Doctor Michael through chat.

Doctor Michael smiled. He knew that Marnie heard what he said to her. It's a good sign that her consciousness is starting to regain.
