Marnie Castello is a provincial girl, 20 years old with a fair white complexion, petite body, and a beautiful sweet face. Marnie grew up with her parents and 2 siblings in the province of Batangas. She has fond memories of her childhood together with her 2 older brothers. She is the third child of her parents and has been spoiled by her father. She has a very strong personality even if she is a provincial girl. She is tough and a bit stubborn. She had a happy childhood with her father and two elder brothers, but then her mother puts a lot of pressure on her to be always on top. Her mother becomes so strict with her compare with her two brothers as they have reached their teenage years. She is stubborn. A naughty girl but a spoiled princess of her father and two brothers. After she graduated from college, she runs away from their hometown to get rid of her mother's pressure. She is a fresh graduate student who wants to explore her journey as a Professional Medical Representative in Manila. She has no idea what a Professional Medical Representative is, what she knows is that she can earn a lot of money from it and she can have a company car. She always dreams of driving a car and earn on her own. Though there were opportunities in their province, she always thinks that working in the City is the fastest way to be a successful one. She also wants to run away from her very strict mother, they used to call her Gabriella Silang or Armida Segioun Reyna, known to be a very strict woman in Philippine Cinema. As she grew older, her mother becomes so strict with her to the extent that she felt that she can no longer breathe anymore. She can't do want she wants to do anymore even if it will just small stuff, she needed to inform and ask permission from her mother always. She applied for one of the career opportunities offered under Manila Bulletin's Classified Ads. Not familiar with Manila and the job she intends to apply for, she tried her luck. She took the exam, undergone with the interview, and started to complete the requirements needed by the Pharmaceutical Company. ---------- "Hmm! They say that Professional Medical Representative earns a lot. On top of basic salary, there is a transportation allowance/ company car, meal allowance, commission, and many more," Marnie says to herself while searching from Manila Bulletin's Classified Ads. She immediately cut this ad and put it in her folder. She will prioritize applying to this company. "Wow! I have to try it!" Marnie says happily while rolling her eyes. It is as though she is daydreaming of exploring in Manila already. "Are you applying somewhere in Manila?" Mrs. Castelo asks her daughter. "You better work here, we need a Loans Processor in our Branch in Mendez. Mrs. Castelo is a Director of Castelo Financing Company with 4 branches in Cavite and Batangas. She doesn't want her daughter to work in Manila alone. She is their only girl and she wanted to look after her at all times. She is stubborn yet she is so fragile and together with her husband, they want to protect Marnie a lot. It isn't safe in Manila anymore, especially with inexperience like their daughter. "Mom, I don't want to work under your supervision," Marnie stubbornly replied while pouting her lips. "Besides it will be a great exposure and opportunity for me to work in Hospitals and meet Medical People, I also want to explore in a new environment." She is against her mother's will. She was already suffocated ever since and to work under her mother's supervision with being her suicide indeed. Her mother can manipulate everything if she will work under her mother's company. Mrs. Castelo threw a throw pillow at her and angrily shouted her "Stubborn! You have to listen to your mother, You're just a new graduate, and don't forget I was the one who supported your studies, I've paid your tuition fees, your books, blah, blah!" Every time her mother nags her, she was accustomed already to repeated expenses her mother incurred since she was born, etc., etc. Marnie put both her hands on top of her ears and hurriedly run inside her room. She is already immune to her mother's mouth and way of talking to them. Instead of answering back her Mom, whom they cannot compete nor beat with, she rather keeps silent and plans on her next moves. She locked herself inside her room and read e-books from her iPad instead. Mrs. Castello can't do anything else with her stubborn daughter. The more Marnie aged, the more she is becoming immature. She is stubborn. She started to clean up their living room and sort out the throw pillows she has thrown to her daughter. Knock! Knock! Someone's knocking on Marnie's door before it was opened. Her elder brother Anthony came in. "You pissed Mom again haha!" he said to Marnie while sitting on the left side of his sister's bed. "She nags and nags and nags! I'm sick and tired of it," Marnie pouted her lips while complaining to her elder brother. Anthony messed her hair and said, "Haven't you used to it already?" he smiled. It seems that their mother's nagging is already music in their ears. "Brother, please help me. I want to be a Professional Medical Representative and I want to be relocated to Manila the soonest possible," she asked for help from Anthony. Anthony can't find any words then. It is as though he will connive with his little sister to piss off their devil mother. He can't afford to lose his allowance and his car if he will help her. Her mother will take away all his provisions then. "Brother, aren't you listening to me," Marnie is getting annoyed with this brother's emotionless reaction. "As much as I wanted a too little sister, you know Mom already, right?" he said to Marnie. She knew her brother can't help him especially if it will be against their mother's will. Her brother is afraid of losing his provisions especially his privilege of driving his car. "Yeah! I know," she said while being annoyed already. "You can leave my room now," she said to Anthony while giving him a sharp look. Anthony can't afford to piss off her little sister as well. He loves her so much. She is their baby girl," Look I can only drive you in Manila if Mom will permit you already, or perhaps I can give you an allowance as additional money for your expenses, That will be the only help I can give you," he said while comforting his little sister. "I can manage it. I know someone who can help me. You are useless," she said to her brother while sobbing already. "I am so sorry little sister," Anthony apologetically said to her sister while starting to leave her room. As much as he wanted to help her, he can't this time. However, while sobbing Marnie thought of her Dad. "I know Dad will allow me and he can't refute me." Her Daddy always pampers her. Being the only daughter is her biggest privilege. Her tears can always melt her Daddy's heart. He is always her protector against t her mother She will ask her father then to help her convince her mother. Worst comes worst, if they will not allow her to go to Manila and her mother insisted her to work in her office, she will rather run away and explore Manila all by herself. She will prove to them that she is independent and that she can be successful on her initiative. She then started to make her Curriculum Vitae in her netbook. She graduated with Latin honors and she is confident enough that she will be hired. Her credentials as a new graduate are quite impressive as well. She even included all the certifications of her attendance from different seminars that might be related to her job application. "Yey, all done," she smiled while sending it to different Pharmaceutical companies who need Professional Medical representatives. "Lord please grant my wish. I want to be a Medrep and work in Manila independently," she prayed so hard upon clicking the send button on his netbook. She messaged her best friend Nina about her plans. She even told her how her mother, Mrs. Castello is not allowing her. Nina de Venecia is already in Manila. After graduation, she was hired at Manila Bank already as a teller and Marnie wanted to join in her boarding house while she is still looking for a job there. She will be needing a place to stay while still applying for a job. She knew that she will help her besides Nina is quite familiar with Manila already. She will be of great help to her with the routes there. "Hi, sissy. Can I stay at your boarding house when I go to Manila please," Marnie asked her? "Sure. By the way, does Tita Bea allowed you already? I thought she's against it," Nina asked her. "Yeah, she's against but I want to pursue my dream. Daddy will help me," she is very confident with her answer. "Tita Bea might get mad at me," Nina was a little frightened since she knew how furious will be Mrs. Castello if she learned that she helped Marnie. "She won't know. No worries okay," Marnie assured her. She knew her mother very well. She doesn't know how to travel in Manila alone so less worry that she will instantly come to their boarding house. She smiled with this thought. "Okay, I'll help you. Our Landlady is looking for another lady boarder who will be my roommate too," she happily told Marnie. Marnie widened her eyes while reading Nina's message," Oh really. Thank you God. I knew He's answering my prayers already. I'll pack my clothes and few personal things already. I'll just buy the other stuff there," she excitedly replied to Nina. She only sorts few clothes, those lite ones. She rolled them to fit on her medium luggage and brought some of her care items. Plus her netbook, iPad, and mobile phone. She will just ask for some more money from his father. Though she had a lot of savings already, she knew that it won't be enough since she will be buying her food already, paying rental fees and other miscellaneous fees. "Dad, can I ask some favor with you please?" she said to her father while showing to him her puppy eyes. Her father smiled at her. He knew that his only daughter will be asking a favor from him. "Hmmmn, what is it this time?" he asked her. "I know that you knew that I won't work in Manila Dad. I want to apply as a Professional Medical Representative. Please help me be on my own. I want to stay in Manila," she pleaded. "Did your Mom allowed you already," he said while continue reading his newspaper. His daughter is pretty stubborn and will still insist on her wants even if her mother is against them. "Hmmm, nope. But Dad, that's why I am asking you a favor. Please handle Mom, Please. Please," she begged her Dad while crying. Her father can't resist seeing her crying. "So you want your Mom to bombard my ears for the day you're leaving us," he said while still reading. Reading between the lines, Marnie knew that her father will help her, "Thank you, Dad, I love you so much," she kissed her father, "By the way Dad I will be asking for an allowance from you. I know you don't want me to become a beggar there. I promise to pay you back on my first salary after I got hired," she said with a sweet tone. "Well, what else can I do? I will be the one to send you to your boarding house okay," he said. "I love you beyond the universe Dad," she said happily.
