*Alpha Mason POV*
I hung up the call with Nigel, and packed my bag. I told him that I didn't want to wait any longer to see Jillian, so I would be leaving as soon as I got everything organized here at Summer Springs. I called my Beta Jasper to inform him of Jillian being found safe, and that I had to go to Winter River to meet with her and Alpha Hardin. I believe Alpha Samuel of Autumn Leaf was mentioned as well. He agreed to stay behind and keep watch over the pack. I asked him to also inform Travis, my delta that he would be going with me. The last call I made was to my mother. Since my father was murdered and Jilly was taken, she has barely left her little cottage. She has been distraught with grief for almost 6 years, and I was thankful to be able to give her some kind of good news for a change.
"Mom, I have some good news. Jillian has escaped and is safe. I am leaving for Winter River in just a little bit to go see her." I hear her gasp at the other end, "Mason, please don't joke with me. I don't know if my heart could stand it." I giggled at the thought of her thinking I was joking, "No, mother. I would never joke about this kind of thing. You should know that by now. Nigel had come across her during a meeting with a client who happened to be at Dracos Castle. He knew he couldn't take her then, so he slipped her his number and told her when she could find a way out to call him. He ended up helping her friend, Alpha Hardin's daughter, and then he went back for Jillian and another girl. She ended up being his mate. So, yes mother, this is real. As soon as Travis gets here, we will be leaving. I'm not sure how long I will be gone, but I would feel safer with you at the Pack House with Jasper." She agreed, and they hung up the phone. He would send someone to get her before he left.
It took us close to 2 and a half hours to reach the Winter River Pack. As we pulled onto pack lands my wolf Fenris was losing his mind. His constant pacing in my mind was making me dizzy, and testing my patience. I called Nigel and informed him we were there, and he told me to go ahead into the house and he would be there shortly. I looked at Travis and said, "Well, it looks like we are here. Nigel said to come in and he would be here shortly. Grab our bags, and I will see you inside." He jumped to his task and I made my way into the house. No one was in sight, but I could hear people talking from what appeared to be the dining hall. I walked through the dining hall to where the voices were coming from, and the sweetest smell hit my nose. A mix of oranges and lilies. My favorite smells. Whatever the scent was, it was definitely coming from the kitchen. In the kitchen were two women preparing what appeared to be lunch, both having a deep conversation. I cleared my throat and said, "Excuse me, I'm Alpha Mason Stone. I'm looking for either Alpha Hardin, or my brother Nigel Stone." The dark-haired beauty turned around and her light amber eyes met mine, and Fenris screamed 'MATE!' in my head. I wasn't sure if she felt the connection, but It hit me like a ton of bricks. She started to speak but fumbled over her words. She introduced herself as Alpha Hardin's daughter Kaia. She was the most beautiful woman I had ever seen. She offered to take me to her father's office, and walked past me to lead the way. Her arm brushed against mine, and she froze for a moment. I'm almost sure she felt the sparks. What I couldn't figure out is why she didn't acknowledge it. We walked through the dining room to the stairs, and proceeded to go up to her dad's office. She knocked lightly, and he told us to enter.
"Alpha Hardin, I'm Alpha Mason Stone, it's an honor to finally meet you." I reached out to shake his hand. He shook with a firm shake and asked me to sit down. He explained that Nigel had run an errand for the girls, and would be back shortly. Just as Kaia had told me. I nodded my head and explained that it was fine and that I was hoping to chat with him briefly anyway before seeing Jillian.
"What is it you would like to speak about Alpha Mason?" He had a concerned look in his eyes, and I replied, "Please, just Mason. Formalities with me are just that, a formality. I am on your land, so I don't find it necessary for anyone to address me as Alpha except those who are from my pack." He smiled and nodded his head and said, "I understand, please call me Hardin. We are a family now, considering your sister is mated to my son Tomas. He will be taking my place soon enough anyway." I was shocked, to say the least, at the revelation. However, I was ecstatic for my little sister. She deserves some happiness after what she has been through.
I sat quietly for a moment, then looked up at him. "Alpha....I mean, Hardin, what I wanted to speak to you about is along those similar lines. Can I ask you a few questions about Kaia?"
"About Kaia?" He asked. "Yes sir, when I walked in the kitchen, my wolf was positive she was our fated mate, but she didn't really acknowledge it. Could I have been mistaken? It's all very confusing." Hardin's eyes widened and he sighed with a laugh, "Oh, no, you wouldn't, I suppose. She doesn't turn 18 until midnight tonight." The lightbulb in my head went on, and I finally understood. "That makes sense, I'm sorry for even asking, but I have never felt a pull from anyone before, nor has anyone's scent had myself and my wolf , Fenris intoxicated. I guess we will find out tomorrow if we are right." I said with a chuckle. Another knock came to the door, and Kaia entered with Nigel and Jillian. Kaia spoke, "Alpha Mason, your brother is back and he has brought Jilly to see you. I will see myself out." She turned to walk away and Jillian grabbed her arm. "Please stay. Please." Kaia nodded and held onto Jillian's hand. Thank you for the save sis. I didn't want Kaia to walk back out that door. I shook Nigel's hand and pulled him for a hug. "It's good to see you brother. It's been too long." Nigel laughed and agreed. Next, a man with dark hair and a protective aura walked in and moved towards Jillian and Kaia. This must be Tomas. I introduced myself, and shook his hand. I looked at Jilly and said "Sis, you have grown up. I almost didn't recognize you." She smiled, and jumped into my embrace. I could feel her tears dampening my shirt. "You are OK now baby sis. You are very safe with a lot of people protecting you."
