Chapter Five

-Sasha's POV-

“He kissed you!!?” Rylie shouts as she drives, I try not to look at her and stare out the window because I know I am red as a tomato.

“Yea.” I say softly.

“See I knew it, he is so in love with you.” She says dramatically.

I roll my eyes. “No, he’s not.”

“But he does like you.”

I stay quiet.

“Mason and Sasha sitting on a tree. K-I-S-S-” She chants.

“Stop! You are being such a child.” I say irritated.

She starts laughing.

She keeps talking during the ride back home but I tune her out. All I can think about is that brief kiss. I wanted to pull back but I just couldn’t. I liked it too much.

‘He is perfect, right?’ Gaia asks.

I sigh but I can’t deny it. He is everything I would want. I never really liked the werewolves in my pack because they are so rough but Mason is so sweet. Maybe it’s because he is human and even though that complicates things, I still know I like him.

‘Just give him a chance.’ Gaia says.

When a werewolf wants a human as a mate, it is different for both female and male werewolves. A male would simply imprint on them like they do normally but of course also go slowly because for humans this can be a bit too much. A female can’t imprint, so it would be like pursuing a normal human relationship, except for the marking on my part.

I groan. ‘This is complicated for me.’

When we arrive at the pack, we get out of the car and I start to see people I had never seen before. And then I remember that May was arriving today.

I groan. I head to the packhouse and am met with Peggy.

“Heeey, Marco is looking for you.” Her voice is soft and sweet.

She is Marco’s mate and because of the isolation and abuse Rowan caused her, she is not mentally stable. She is not violent but she is not completely there. She has always been sweet and almost acts like a child. Marco has Beena, one of the pack members, with her always to watch her.

I smile. “Okay Peggy. Thank you for letting me know.”

She smiles and waltzes away. “Let’s go to the garden Beena.”

I watch her dance away. It’s so sad but Marco loves her so much. To him, she is perfect the way she is and he doesn’t treat her any differently.

I walk over to the office and find Christian on the way there too.

“He called you too?” I ask.

He nods. “Yep.”

We head in together and immediately see a big guy with a girl with amber eyes which I assume is May, talking to Marco.

They all look at us. They both have an aura of command. It is quite intimidating. We've been with Marco as our leader for so long that I forgot how a real Alpha’s and Luna’s presence feels like. Marco has been a great leader, but he is no Alpha.

“There they are. Sasha, Christian, these are Alpha Colton and Luna May.” Marco says.

Me and Christian lower our heads showing them respect. I look up at May. Other than our eyes and curly hair, we look nothing alike.

‘She is pretty though.’ Gaia says.

I know we should be grateful to her and her mate for giving an end to Rowan but I just don’t know them enough to trust them.

They both smile and give us a nod. “So these are them? I’m glad to meet you both.” May says.

‘She seems nice.’ Gaia says and I agree but I will keep her at a distance for now.

“I would like to get to talk to you more later if possible.” She says to me and I nod not really knowing what to say.

“They will be staying with us for a while and we will all have dinner together tonight.” Marco says.

Christian takes a step forward and crosses his arms looking at Colton. “I heard that you are really strong, do you think that in your spare time you could train me a bit?”

Christian is not like me. I have too much distrust for people.

Colton smiles and looks at Marco. “If it’s ok with you, I don’t mind.”

May crosses her arms and gives Colton a side glance. “Look at you, taking all the credit. I’m strong too you know.”

Colton smiles. “You know what they say. Behind every strong man, there’s a strong woman walking.”

She squints her eyes at him. “I never walk behind any man.” She looks at Christiana. “You know, most of those stories were all me.” She says playfully whispering.

Colton sighs. “Who's trying to take all the glory now.” May squints her eyes at him.

Colton lifts his arms in surrender. “I know, I know, we are equals.” He says and she nods satisfied.

My eyes shine.

‘I love her!’ Gaia says like a child.

‘I... Me too.’ I say defeated not being able to hide it.

“Anyways, I’ll train you in our spare time.” Colton says and Christian nods excitedly.

“Ok, you two go get ready for dinner while we talk some more.” Marco says.

Me and Christin nod and leave.

I sigh. “We warmed up to them faster than I thought we would.”

“Yea, but I think it’s ok. They seem genuinely good.” Christian says.

‘I want to be like her.’ Gaia says.

‘Ah no, she is Luna to a whole pack. Do you know how much work that has to be?’

‘True. Besides, I don’t want to be Luna. I just want to be Mason’s mate.’

I sigh. She won’t stop with her obsession.

I head to my room and get ready but the only thing on my mind, thanks to Gaia, is Mason.

The way he smelled. It drives me crazy. His beautiful smile his deep blue eyes staring down at me, my heart races just remembering.

I push all those thoughts to the side and head downstairs. Once dinner starts, I am surprised at how refreshingly childish May is. Colton is telling us of May’s antics and she tells us how she and Colton ended up together, which by the way I am shocked at how he handled things but also admire his bravery seeing as May is a scary and vengeful person.

“Why do you always have to bring up that damned bald spot.” Brandon, their third in command says looking irritated.

May and Colton came with him and another man named Jacob.

“I will always bring it up. You disserved it!” May says and we all laugh while Brandon sighs.

“Marco, I am tired, can I go rest now?” Peggy asks in a soft voice.

He looks at her and gives her a smile. “Of course, my love. Anything you want.”

Peggy gives him a kiss on the cheek then she waves at everyone at the table all cheery and Beena takes her away.

“By the way, I don’t really think I have ever properly thanked you for what you both did.” Marco says to May and Colton. “I don’t think Peggy would have lasted another year with Rowan and the condition that he had her in.”

That monster Rowan got what he deserved. I remember clearly the first day I met him. His rogue pack attacked our pack. We weren’t able to fight him. He killed the man I called father and took my mother with him. He also killed Rylie's family and almost all others who opposed him. After a few weeks my mother wouldn’t give in to him, so he killed her too. But that was his intention all along. All he wanted was me.

“Let’s not sour this wonderful dinner with that man’s name.” May says.

Marco nods. “True. Oh! I wanted to speak to you about Alana. She wants to meet you and Sasha. I will invite her here so you can meet.”

“Oh yes, I was surprised when you told me that you had found another sibling.” May says.

Marco nods. “More like she found us. She is young but she is Alpha of her own pack. She was lucky Rowan didn’t get to her but I already told her of him.”

I heard of her. She lives here in Alaska. She is supposed to be around my age I think. She contacted us when she heard of us but I haven’t seen her yet.

The rest of dinner is spent laughing at poor Brandon and Colton as May tells us her stories. She is much more different than what I had thought she’d be.

The next day in school, I feel so embarrassed every time I see Mason but he is so sweet, always trying to talk to me and joking around trying to make me laugh. It’s obvious he is trying to make it less awkward and I am grateful for that.

I am very set in my ways, I tend to be a bit headstrong most of the time and I don’t like to interact with others but I have no problem doing it. But when it comes to him, I feel a little shy and nervous.

In the afternoon Rylie, Christian, and me head to the hockey game like we told Mason we would.

When we arrive there, we see Mason waiting in front of the locker room door.

“There you are. I wanted to ask you something.” Mason says as soon as he sees me.

I nod and wait while he takes his phone out.

“Can I have your number?” He asks and starts to sound nervous. “Because I wasn’t sure if you guys were going to come and well, I couldn’t contact you...” He stops and takes a deep breath. “You know what? That’s a lie. I just want your number.” He says now looking confident.

Rylie and Christian laugh and I want to laugh but I find him so cute right now. I nod and give him my number.

He gives me a big smile. “I’ll see you after the game.”

I nod.

“You better win!” Rylie shouts and he smiles again.

“Oh, I am definitely winning tonight.” He says, then he looks at me and gives me a wink before he goes in.

I can feel Gaia jumping in excitement and honestly, I kind of want to jump in excitement too.

We head over to the benches and take seats. It is nearly full but we manage to find space.

“You know what I find funny? That no one notices that we aren’t wearing any coats in this cold place.” Rylie says and starts laughing.

This is an Ice hockey rink so it is cold here for humans. “Maybe we should have made a bit more effort trying to fit in.” I whisper at them but they don’t care so neither do I.

The game starts and we watch but my eyes are set on Mason and how he commands the rink. He is good at this game that’s for sure. Christian is pumped and very into the game, he keeps cursing at the other team. Rylie and I laugh at how involved he is.

After a score by Mason himself, he skates near our area. He finds me in the crowd and blows me a kiss.

I choke. Everyone in the crowd near me looks at me and I can feel my face go red. I look at Rylie and the b***h is lying on the bench laughing and holding her stomach.

I hit her boots off of my side of the bench and she sits up calming down.

“You are no help.” I mumble to her.

“Stop complaining. Girls here would die to have Mason do that to them.” As she says that, Rylie looks up a few steps behind me and then at me. She leans in and whispers. “Rachel is here and she is staring daggers at you.”

I look back and see her. I turn back at Rylie and whisper in her ear. “She is not staring daggers, she looks like she wants to murder me.”

Rylie nods. “Ignore her.” She says and I nod agreeing.

Gaia growls. ‘That is our man now, she can-’

‘Oh my goddess, stop.’ I say to her cutting her off.

‘He’s ours.’ She mumbles possessively and I sigh.

I can honestly feel that that idea has gotten stronger in her mind.

I focus on watching Mason. Now and then he gives glances our way and smiles. I know that I am starting to like all the attention he gives me. Even when he blew me that kiss, I got embarrassed because everyone started staring at me but it made me feel... special. I really don’t know what I am going to do, I mean the guy is perfect. Gaia is right on that.

At the end of the game, we head out to wait for Mason and Daren. Unfortunately for us, Rachel walks up to us.

“Hey, I see that you came to watch the game.” Her tone is condescending and definitely strained even though she’s trying to sound friendly.

“Yea...” Rylie says and then mumbles only for me and Christian to hear. “...genius.”

Christian scoffs holding a laugh.

“Yea, me too, you know since Mason and I are planning on getting back together. At least that’s what we were talking about when I went to see him yesterday at his house.” She says.

Gaia gives a growl that threatens to come out of my mouth but I hold it back.

‘She has to be lying... right?’ I say to Gaia feeling my heart sinking a bit.

‘Of course, she’s stupid. I don’t know what he saw in her in the first place.’ She says a little agitated. “WE should make her disappear.’

I almost gasp. ‘Gaia! What the hell.’ But Gaia stays quiet.

We hear Rylie cough. “*Cough* Bullshit. *Cough*”

Christian can’t help it anymore and laughs.

Rachel looks at her squinting her eyes. “What?”

“Oh nothing, I just need a little water to wash down all that BULLSHIT you just said.” Rylie says with her hands on her hips.

She is so tiny but her mouth makes up for what she lacks in height.

My eyes go wide.

‘Oh boy, here we go.’
