Chapter Six

2638 Words
-Sasha’s POV-  Rachel straightens up. “He is mine!” She shouts and I can feel Gaia fighting to take control. I have to step back and close my eyes. I have never felt her this strong before.   "Yours? Wow, you are deluded!" Rylie starts arguing with her.  “You stay out of this you hobbit!” Rachel shouts at Rylie.  Rylie gasps. “Oh, you just did not!!”   Rylie lunges at Rachel but Christian grabs her by the waist and pulls her away before she can get to her.  I hear someone running up to us. When I look back, I see Mason with Daren rushing over.   “For f***s sake Rachel.” He takes her hand and pulls her away to the end of the parking lot where they start to shout at each other.  “She better watch her damned back or I’m going to rip her a new one.” Rylie mumbles. I am used to the things she says but Daren and Christian aren’t. They stare at her somewhat amused and not knowing if they should laugh or be scared of her.  Mason spends the whole time arguing with Rachel but of course, I can hear everything from this distance and he does NOT want to get back with her. Gaia feels satisfied and I can’t help feel relief.  Finally, when their argument is over, she leaves pissed and Mason walks back over to us.   “Sorry about her.” He says.  “Don’t be, she’s the crazy one.” I mumble and he smiles.  Daren scoffs. “Crazy is an understatement. She is obsessed-”  Mason hits him on the ribs with the elbow cutting him off. “You’re going to scare her off.” He whispers.  “Ha, trust me, Sasha can handle crazy.” Rylie says.  “Of course I can, I’m dealing with you, aren’t I?” I say to Rylie.  Rylie smiles and nods. “Yep.” She then looks at Daren and her eyes go wide. “But I’m not that crazy.” She says rapidly and we all start laughing.  We all talk for a few more minutes but since it was getting late, we decided to go home, and like always, Mason gives me a wink before he leaves which makes my heart skip a beat.  He is going to give me a heart attack.  “Girls are too problematic.” Christian mumbles as Rylie drives back to the packhouse.  “Oh! So you’re playing for the opposite team then?” Rylie asks teasing him.  Christian’s eyes go wide. “What!? NO! I just mean, I'm steering clear of girls for a while. I don’t think I am ready for all that drama yet.”  “Na, you like boys.” She says. She continues to tease him all the way back home.  ---  The next day after school, Rylie and I head to the library for the study party with Mason and Daren.  “Man, why did we had to come here. We can’t make any noise.” Daren says looking at the librarian. She is also intently looking at us because Daren and Rylie have been loud since we’ve been here and she’s been shushing us.  “My sister is at home.” Mason says and Daren’s eyes go wide. “Dang, good call then.”  I giggle remembering how his sister owned Mason that day.  We all study quietly and when we are all focused on our own books and papers, I can feel Mason staring at me.  I give him a glance and his eyes are set on me. I smile shyly and he smiles back. As much as I want to, I can’t deny that I really like him.  I remember when we moved here, he was the first person that talked to me that wasn’t from my pack. After that, he would always go out of his way to be nice to me and to talk to me but I was in a bad place at that time. The whole Rowan thing was still too new for me. He continued to be nice to me over the years and that’s when Gaia took an interest in him. He was different from the other guys.  “You know, we can leave, and you guys can have the whole library to yourselves.” Rylie says and I go red. I didn’t realize that we were staring at each other so much.  I pinch her on the side.   “Ok, ok. You don’t have to be so violent.”  I stare at her and I want to punch her. Gaia is all giddy inside and I know that whatever this is, is growing.  When we finish with our studies, the guys ask us if we want to go eat with them and we agree. However, I still don’t understand how Rylie got me into Mason's car while she drives with Daren.  ‘That girl is skilled.’  Mason gives me a side glance as he drives. “This is nice.”  “What is?” I ask.  “This, having you in my car, just the two of us.” He says.  Why does he have to say these things? I feel flustered now. I know he notices how my face changed all colors of pink. He gives me a smile and continues driving.  When we get to the diner, we don’t see Rylie's car anywhere.  ‘That slut probably stopped somewhere to have a little taste of Daren.’ Gaia says. I agree, knowing that that is exactly it.  Mason puts a little bit of music as we wait. “So, Sasha. What’s your favorite type of movies?”  He stares at me waiting for my answer...   ‘We could get lost in his eyes.’ Gaia says.  I don’t notice that a few seconds pass without me answering and all I have been doing is staring into his eyes. He gives me a smile and I look down embarrassed. “Sorry.”  All I hear is silence. When I look up he is also staring at me. His eyes show something I have never seen before in anyone. We stare at each other as if we are the only people in the world.  “Mas-”  He abruptly pulls me to him and kisses me. A moan escapes me. Without hesitation, he grabs my legs and swings me over to him sitting me on his lap and I don’t fight him at all.  I grab the back of his neck and pull him even closer, kissing him back. Heat rises inside me. I clumsily move my leg over and sit straddling him. We kiss each other hungrily. He grunts and when we feel like we are going to pass out from not breathing, we part just to take a deep breath and then we continue kissing.   My hands feel like they have a mind of their own. I move my hands up and down his chest and abs, feeling the hard muscles that hide under his shirt. His hands slide down from my back to my ass and he squeezes.   I can feel him starting to get hard and I like how he feels under me. I start grinding on him. We both moan in each other’s mouths.  *Knock* *Knock*  Mason and I both jump as we hear knocking from the window. I quickly move over back to the passenger seat startled.  We see Rylie and Daren with big grins on their faces. “Dang, you work fast but don’t stop on our account because we are enjoying the show.” Daren says and I can hear Mason chuckling.  I cover my face feeling embarrassed. “But they are closing the diner in two hours so, hurry it up.” Rylie says.  I want to make a hole in the ground and bury myself in it. Rylie and Daren start to walk into the diner. I take a deep breath and go to open the door but Mason holds my hand before I can leave the car. I look at him a little startled and still embarrassed.  “I just wanted to say that I am looking forward to the festival tomorrow.” He says.  I manage to give him a smile. “Me too.”  I know I am so screwed. I couldn’t resist him. I like him so much and that kiss felt so good, not just on our lips but everywhere else he touched.  We get out and head to the diner where both Daren and Rylie wait for us. Rylie gives me her teasing look but I give her my warning look and she stops. We order and then we start talking.  “Wait, so you guys live together?” Daren asks Rylie and me. Shit, that kind of slipped out.  Rylie looks at me and then nods at them. “Yep, our families have known each other since we were little and well... “She stops not knowing what to say next so I continue. “Well, our parents went on a trip when we were younger and they had an accident...” I lower my head. “They died.”  All a lie, they did die but it was no accident.  We all go silent. I look up to see the guys staring at us with their eyes wide.   ‘Good job genius. Way to ruin the mood.’ Gaia says mockingly.  ‘Well, what was I supposed to say?’  ‘Maybe not bring up our dead parents next time?’ She says.  “We live with Sasha's brother now, Marco. He takes care of us.” Rylie says.  'Goddess! If they find out that other kids from school live with us, what the hell is going to be our excuse? How has no one ever thought of this?' 'Good question.' Gaia says. “I am so sorry. We didn’t know.” Mason says.  Rylie and I shake our heads. “There’s nothing for you to be sorry about. It was a long time ago.” I say.  “Ok so now it’s your turn since we shared a deep dark secret.” Rylie says mischievously but I know she’s trying to take the focus away from us.  Mason looks at Daren. “Should I start?” Mason asks.  “Definitely man, the only dark secret that my family has is that my dad brought a stray kitten to the house and left it at the door, then pretended that it just appeared out of nowhere so my mom would say yes to keeping it and he wouldn’t get blamed for bringing another animal to the house, but I knew... I blackmailed him and I didn’t have to mow the lawn for a month.” Daren says satisfied.  We laugh. “That is so sweet of him though.” I say.  He nods. “Yea.... but we already had seven cats.”  We all start laughing again then Daren looks at Mason.  Mason takes a deep breath.  “You don’t have to.” I say.  He shakes his head “Oh na, it’s fine. So my family is a mess. My mom turned into a drunk because of my dad. He cheated on her and it broke her. My sister is the spawn of satan. I don’t know how she turned out that way, and honestly, the only normal ones in my family are me and my brother Alex.”  I could smell the mom that day but I didn’t know that it was because of his dad. And his dad is the Mayor. Wow.  Daren looks at me and then at Mason. “I’m not sure that you are all that normal. I mean this obsession that you’ve had with this one girl-”  “Shut the hell up!” Mason punches Daren on the shoulder cutting him off.  Daren laughs and holds his shoulder. “Ouch, man!”   ‘That has to be us, right? Right?’ Gaia sounds desperate.  ‘I don’t know.’ I say.  ‘It is.’ She says sounding sure of herself.  We continue talking and once we are done, we say our awkward goodbyes. And I mean awkward because I didn’t know if I should have hugged him or just waved. I waved and both Gaia and Rylie gave me s**t for it.  Rylie and I head back home.   “You have to tell me everything that happened in that car with you and Mason but not right now. I can’t concentrate because I have to pee so bad!” She says as she drives.  I squint my eyes at her. “Why the hell didn’t you go in the diner.”  “Because the boys were there. I didn’t want them to know I was peeing!” She says as if it was supposed to be obvious to me.  “How the hell would they have kn- you know what? Never mind. This is going to be a pointless conversation.” I cross my arms looking away.  “My poor bladder.” She mumbles.  When we get home, it is a bit late so most pack members are already asleep. We start to walk up the stairs and into the hall. We turn the corner just in time to see Marco.  “Hey, you guys had fun?” He asks.  We are about to answer but then May pops out of one of the closets next to us with a creepy mask on and screams.  “SSSHHHIIITTT!!” Marco’s voice is high and feminine and he stumbles back falling on his ass while Rylie and I scream at the top of our lungs hugging each other.  Our faces go pale and I see Marco holds his chest taking deep breaths. I swear he looks like he is having a heart attack but then again that’s how I feel too.  Rylie and I are shocked but then we start laughing uncontrollably while pack members start to come out of their rooms to see what is the commotion.  “Oh sorry, I thought you were Colton or Brandon.” May says with a cheapish look while Marco looks at her with a shocked expression. Rylie and I are now rolling on the floor still laughing. But then Rylie sits up and her eyes go wide.  “Haha! f**k!” She shouts but can barely talk because she is still laughing.  “Haha! W... what? Haha!" I manage to ask.  “I can’t.... hahah! I think... haha I think I peed my pants!! HAHAHA.”  My eyes go wide and I laugh even harder. “HAHAHA.”  I look down at her pants and she is all wet but all we can do is keep laughing.  I haven’t laughed so much in such a long time. This is the best even though I almost crapped myself.  I look at May and I can’t believe this grown-ass woman just did that.   ‘I love her.’ Gaia says.  Throughout the rest of the night, I had spurs of laughter here and there remembering what had happened. This is something I will never forget.  The next day, Rylie, Christian, and I head to the festival and I can’t deny that I am excited. Once we get there, Christian heads out with his friends.  “Behave you two.” Christian says as he walks away.  “You should say that to just Rylie, not me.” I say.  He smiles and walks off.  Rylie and I lock the car and start walking through the parking lot to go find the boys. Suddenly, we hear tires screeching behind us. We turn around and a car is speeding, heading directly towards us.   The lights completely blind me and I am frozen.
