Chapter 34 looking for the traitors

Updated  Nikki’s P.O.V   I was still getting Ronnie ready for the feast and welcome party for Alpha Rick and his pack members, but I could hear someone talking outside and their voice sounded so familiar, but it couldn't be, she's dead. It was such a shame what happened to her and how the pack treated her, but there was nothing I could do to help her, she refused to let me. I ignored what I had heard and carried on getting Ronnie ready, but I could still hear everything because the window was open.   “Hope, you turned out to be a beautiful woman. My mate should be down soon with our son, I want you to meet her. She is the one that changed me and this pack for the better.” Cole said and I had heard right the first time, it was her. It was Hope, but how was she alive? We all thought she had died after she ran away. I quickly grabbed Ronnie and ran downstairs and straight outside. She was here, it was really her and she was here. My eyes went wide when I saw her and I couldn't believe that I was seeing Hope. I walked right over to her and hugged her tightly.  “Oh my Goddess, Hope. I can't believe it's really you, you're here. How are you? Where have you been all this time? Are you back for good?” I said, not wanting to let her go, not after all this time of her being missing.   Hope’s P.O.V   I can't believe it, after all these years Nikki is still here and just as nice as she ever was. I always liked Nikki, she was the one that always treated me nice and tried to help me, even though I mostly refused. She always tried to help me clean, but I told her no because she would get in trouble and because I knew what it would lead to. More beatings, more punishments for me. After she finally accepted the fact that she couldn't help me she chose to do other things and would sneak me food, which I was so grateful for.   “Hi Nikki, I’m great, thanks, how are you? I’ve been in the woods, I am now a member of Alpha Rick’s pack and Rick’s mate. No, I’m not coming back. I only came because your pack is in trouble, so I have come with Alpha Rick to help.” I replied and Nikki looked quite sad, but soon cheered up when the young boy standing next to her grabbed her hand.   “Well, I hope your trip was good. I’m glad that you are here and I pray that we figure out how these nasty rogues are getting in here. They have killed so many and they are after our pack.” Nikki said and I smiled at her, nodding.   “So, I see you found your mate too and you have a son, what's his name?” I asked and Nikki smiled down at the young boy.  “Yes, Cole and I are very happy, now that he has finally changed for the better. Oh, his name is Ronnie, he’s only eight years old, but he is a fast little kit, learned to crawl when he was only a month old.” Nikki replied and I looked down at the young boy who was smiling brightly up at me. I smiled back at him and then looked at the crew.   “Alright, we’re here today to find out how these rogues are getting in and who is helping them. Cole, I want all your guards here now, even the ones that are inside the guard house. This will only take a few minutes.” Rick said and Cole looked really confused, but he still did what he was asked to do. I watched as Cole’s eyes glazed over and he started to mind-link all the guards he had.   “Ok, they are on their way, I’ve linked all the guards, even the ones in the guard house and I have told them to hurry up and get here, that they are needed right away.” Cole replied, but still looked confused as to what we were about to do.   “Good, Hope, are you ready?” Rick asked and I quickly nodded, closing my eyes and trying to clear my mind of everything in preparation.   “I don't get it, what can she do? What is she going to do?” Cole asked and I heard Rick chuckle. Rick knew all too well what I could do, but he wasn't going to let Cole or anyone else outside of our pack know about it and neither was I. twenty minutes later every single guard was in the backyard.   “When I find him or her I’ll put my hand on their shoulder.” I mind-linked Rick and he nodded. I didn't want to say it out loud because they would have heard me, even if I had whispered. Rick nodded to Cole and gestured to him what I was going to do, thankfully after a few minutes he seemed to catch on. He never was too smart, Goddess knows how he made Alpha. I turned and looked at every pack member that was standing there, they were split into three groups, guards, normal pack members and then the warriors. I decided it would be best to start with the normal pack members to rule them out first as I doubt any of them would be involved in this. They wouldn't have the means to let them into the territory, plus this way it would make the guards think there was nothing to worry about. I opened my mind up to all of them, walking past them one by one and hearing everyone's thoughts. Some were funny, some wondered why they were here and not out looking for the one that's letting the rogues in. I suddenly stopped behind a young girl and listened to what she was thinking.   “Please Goddess, don't let them kick me out. I don't belong here, but I don't want to be out there with the rogues, they will kill me and it's so safe here.” The young girl said inside her mind and I kept my face normal as I spoke only to her through the mind-link.   “Dont link back and keep your face straight, don't show anyone that I am talking to you. I know you're not supposed to be here, so when we leave I want you to come with us. You will be safe with us.” I said, mind-linking her and then quickly ended the link before anyone noticed. I carried on with the rest of the pack members until I had come to the end of them and they were all free and clear. Just like I had suspected it wasn't any of them, they were innocent, but now it was time to start with the guards. One by one I walked by them, reading their thoughts and then I realised that it wasn't just one person letting the rogues in, it was two. One traitor was bad enough, but two were terrible. I did exactly what I had told Rick and placed my hands on the two guard's shoulders.   “I have found them.” I said out loud, keeping my hands on their shoulders while everyone looked on in shock.
