Riley - POV “Alpha Tyler, I’m not setting foot in your room, and I’m certainly not going to be another one of your conquests.” I halted at the doorway, refusing to go any further. Alpha Tyler’s lips curled into a smug grin. “Relax, Riley. I’m not asking you to warm my bed. If that were your interest, you would’ve made a move by now.” He turned to face me, his eyes locking onto mine. His defined jawline and tousled black hair only added to his arrogant allure. How badly I wanted to wipe that smug look off his face. There’s no denying the Alpha was attractive, but did he really have to flaunt it? It was already hard enough to keep my composure around him. Every time I’m near him, it’s a struggle to ignore the pull of attraction. “Why are you still standing there?” he barked, his voice snapping me from my thoughts. “Come in.” Reluctantly, I stepped into the room. As soon as I did, he grabbed my hand, placing a small vial in my palm. “What’s this?” I asked, eyeing the bottle curiously. “Treat your wounds. It’ll help you heal faster,” he said, his tone switching from teasing to serious Alpha mode. “Be ready for the meeting as soon as possible.” I nodded and left, using the solution to treat my injuries. It took longer than expected for my body to heal, a side effect of my mixed heritage—vampire blood combined with Fifi’s powers. After tending to my wounds, I switched to more casual clothing, knowing we were headed to the human world for business. Still, I wished Alpha Tyler had been clearer on where exactly we were going. It would’ve helped me choose something more appropriate. As I stepped out of my room, I saw him walking down the hall. He was dressed in a tight black shirt and denim jeans, the sleeves rolled up to show off his muscular arms. His gaze swept over me with a frown. “Why aren’t you dressed properly? We’re leaving soon,” he said, his tone filled with impatience. I shot him a look. “I am dressed. You said we were heading to the human world, so I dressed casually. You didn’t say where we were going.” He sighed, clearly frustrated. “We’re going to a club to meet with the mafia king. You’re pretending to be my girlfriend, so you need to dress the part. I don’t want to raise suspicions by having you look like a bodyguard. Liam will cover that.” “Pretending to be your girlfriend?” I raised an eyebrow. “You might have mentioned that earlier.” “Well, I’m telling you now. Get dressed. We’re leaving soon.” I muttered under my breath but turned back to my room to change. Alpha Tyler’s poor communication skills were infuriating, but arguing with him would get me nowhere. I slipped into a red dress with a low back and a front slit that showed just enough cleavage. The dress ended above my knees, and I paired it with black stilettos. I pinned my hair into a bun and applied minimal makeup to my pale face. When I opened the door, Alpha Tyler was on his phone, but as his eyes landed on me, they swept up and down in silent appraisal. His intense stare made it difficult to remain calm. I’ve dated plenty of attractive human men before, but I’ve never felt anything more than fleeting lust. With Tyler, it was different, much more dangerous. I had to remind myself—don’t get attached. I wasn’t here to get involved with him. My mission was to free my parents, nothing more. “Is something wrong, Alpha?” I asked coolly, snapping him out of his trance. His expression hardened immediately. “Let’s not waste any more time,” he said, his voice curt. We made our way to the back of the pack house, where a few members lingered. I was glad for their presence—at least it kept the attention off me. When we reached the large oak tree, Liam was waiting for us. “About time,” Liam muttered sarcastically. “Watch it, Liam. Just open the portal,” Tyler ordered, his patience wearing thin. Liam’s eyes briefly flicked to me, annoyed. “Why is she coming?” “She’s pretending to be my girlfriend, and I need her to scout around, flirt with the mafia members, and gather intel on the equipment they’re supplying to our enemies,” Tyler explained. Liam seemed to accept the logic, though it wasn’t unusual for him to question Alpha Tyler’s decisions as if he were the Alpha himself. The portal shimmered to life before us, and I braced myself for the uncomfortable sensation of teleportation. I hate it—every second of it. The spinning, the dizziness—it all makes me feel like I’m about to fall apart. As the world twisted around us, I caught Alpha Tyler watching me, his gaze softening for a moment when he noticed my pale face. “You alright?” he asked quietly. I nodded, not trusting my voice, while Liam shot me a smug look. He seemed to enjoy seeing me suffer. I couldn’t figure out why he disliked me so much. When we finally landed, I stumbled, and Alpha Tyler quickly steadied me, his grip firm on my arm.
