Riley - POV
“You look pale. Are you sure you won’t throw up on me?” Alpha Tyler’s voice held a mocking edge. “I’d hate to ruin my wardrobe.”
I clenched my jaw, resisting the urge to snap at him. He was clearly enjoying riling me up, but I was too drained to rise to the bait.
“I’ll be fine, Alpha. Just give me a minute,” I said coolly, watching the amusement in his eyes fade.
He leaned in slightly, his tone softening. “Try to relax, Riley. We need to look convincing—like we’re madly in love.”
There was something in his gaze that I couldn’t quite place. But I wasn’t about to let him think I wasn’t up for the task. “Don’t worry, Alpha. I can play the part.”
I shifted closer, lowering my voice to a purr as I whispered near his ear. To drive the point home, I rested my hand on his chest, feeling the solid muscles beneath. His expression flickered with surprise, though a hint of amusement remained.
He was still unconvinced. I could see it in the way his eyes stayed on me, wary. So I decided to push a little further, letting my fingers trace the outline of his chest beneath his shirt.
His breath hitched ever so slightly, and I could feel the heat of his body against mine. The scent of him—woodsy and rich—was intoxicating, making it difficult to keep my thoughts clear. As his hand slid down to my waist, then further to the exposed skin of my thigh, a shiver ran through me.
“Riley...” He breathed my name against my ear, sending warmth flooding through me.
His voice was low, suggestive. “You seem to be enjoying this. Should I see just how far I can go?” His fingers teased the edge of my underwear, and my pulse raced uncontrollably.
For a brief moment, I was lost. I knew I should stop him, should draw a line, but the sensation of his touch had me at a loss for words.
Just as he was about to cross that line, Liam’s voice cut through the haze. “Alpha Tyler.”
The spell broke. I jerked away from him, heart pounding, as Tyler straightened and regained his usual composed demeanor. Liam glanced between us, clearly picking up on the tension.
What was I doing? I was here to complete a mission, not to lose myself in Alpha Tyler’s games. One day, Alpha Tyler will discover the truth—I’m a spy. This flirtation, this closeness, it’s all a façade. He will charm me to death, and that will be my undoing. The very thing I fear will be the reason for my downfall.

Alpha Tyler - POV
As we followed Liam through the crowded club, I kept a firm hand on Riley’s waist, guiding her along as we made our entrance. The usual reaction followed—whispers, gasps, eyes following my every move. Women openly stared, their gazes trailing over me, but I barely noticed.
What caught my attention was Riley. She was playing the role flawlessly, her hand resting casually on my thigh, her smile warm and natural. No one would guess she was pretending.
Her scent, unique and subtle, was getting under my skin in ways I couldn’t explain. It wasn’t just her beauty or her ability to act convincingly as my lover. It was something deeper, something that was starting to feel... addictive.
Still, there was no sign of Rudolf. The half-demon mafia boss was supposed to be here by now. I needed this deal to go through—needed to outbid the vampires and secure his loyalty. But Rudolf had a habit of making people wait.
“Where the hell is Rudolf? Is he really making us sit here like we don’t matter?” Liam grumbled, his frustration evident.
I remained calm, knowing better than to let impatience get the best of me. “He’ll be here. He’s still five kilometers away,” I said evenly.
“Alpha, I think we should wait a bit longer. He’s close,” Riley added, her tone confident.
I turned to her, intrigued. “How can you be so sure? Even I can’t pick up his scent from that distance.”
Liam shot her a mocking look, but I quickly cut him off with a sharp glance, silencing any further comments. I will ask Riley how she honed a scent picking skill that is far off the radar.A few minutes later, Riley’s prediction was confirmed. Rudolf strode into the club, his eyes immediately finding us in the booth. He approached with a smile, glancing at Liam before settling his gaze on Riley.
“Alpha Tyler,” he greeted smoothly, taking the seat across from me. The drink I’d ordered for him was placed on the table, and he took a sip, smiling. “A pleasant surprise, indeed, receiving an invitation from you.”
His eyes lingered on Riley, and a sly grin spread across his face. “And who is this lovely lady at your side?”
