Chapter 16

Thane’s POV

We walk to the hospital in silence. I am holding Tessa’s hand. Even though I know he is not saying Tessa is his mate, Lox is still cautious around Vick. Though Crystal Lake has an alliance with the Stoneheart pack, I don’t know Vick well. He is a year older than me. We have been in meetings and gatherings together but he tends to keep to himself. I do know he is next in line for Alpha but for whatever reason his father has not handed over the title yet. Nor has there been any talk or plans of it happening any time soon. That makes me question. Most gain their pack between age 18-20, giving them a chance to finish school and go for training or additional degrees if they want. I don't get a bad vibe from him but I don't get a good one either. And after the conversation with his father and dealing with Rachel, I am not a fan of the family as a whole. He just better not hurt my cousin.

We walk to Anna’s room and as we get closer, he gets more antsy. Her smell must be driving him crazy. We walk in and he gasps

“What happened to her?” he asks

“She was attacked. Any further details will have to come from her” I reply

“Who would hurt such a beautiful creature” he whispers

“She is also not 18 yet, so you will have to wait for her to scent you as her mate. She is only 16” I say

He goes to her and touches her head, brushing back her hair. He looks at her face and then looks at her body under the sheet. He stops and focuses on her stomach

“She’s pregnant?” he asks angrily

“Yes, but that is part of the conversation you need to have with her” I say

He stares at me, and I see his eyes flash from brown to black. His wolf is trying to come forward. I see him getting more and more angry. He rushes out of the hospital room, pushing past me and Tessa, knocking Tessa down. I pick her up and make sure she is okay. I run after him and caught him outside the packhouse. Our father’s are coming out, so Tessa must have linked Dad

“What the f**k is wrong with you? You pushed my mate?” I growl and punch him in the face

My father steps to me and pulls me from Vick before I kill him

“Why didn’t you tell me she was pregnant” he yells

“It’s not that simple. I told you that is part of the conversation you will need to have with your mate when she wakes up”

“That b***h is not my mate!” he yells

“Watch yourself Vick, that’s my cousin” I say sternly

“I don’t give a s**t who she is related to. I will never accept a w***e as my mate. You want to defend her honor as your cousin when she is pregnant at 16 years old. She gave herself to another man like a b***h in heat. Well, I don’t accept leftovers. She is a w***e and I will reject the b***h! No man wants a pregnant b***h as a ma……” he yells

Tess slaps him

“How dare you? You don’t know anything about her” she screams

He pulls his hand back to slap Tess and I catch him. I pushed his hand away and punch him in the face again. He looks at me with rage. He charges towards me and pushes me against the packhouse wall. I elbow him in his back causing him to loosen his hold on me, he falls to the ground and I kick him. I then walk to Tessa, putting distance between me and Zach because he is pissing me off.

“You want to fight me over her” he snarls

"That is my cousin. Yes, I will fight you over her. You raised your hand to my mate. You had better be glad I haven't killed you. These women are everything to me. The are always worth the fight. But you are not! Remember that, because if you ever even think about raising your hand to my mate or hurting my cousin in anyway. I will end you!"

"You would fight me over your slut of a cousin? That's rich! She's my mate and I can do and say what I want about her. I don't need your permission. Don't worry I don't want that whore."

“This is over. You will leave my pack now and don’t return. When Anna wakes up I will call you so you can reject her. Because you don’t have all the information, we will continue with our alliance, for now. But I will decide when you come to reject her if we will continue this alliance based on your actions and response to her at that time. Now leave!” I say

He glares at me, and they all get in the car and leave. I hope she accepts his rejection. She deserves so much better.
