Taking control

Everyone is quiet as Carl storms out. Jennie wants to follow him, but Dante holds her back. Carl acts like a spoiled brat, and Dante walks out to make sure Carl is okay. He sees Carl get in his car's passenger side, and a driver arrives to take him home. He goes back and tells Jennie Carl will be okay. Jennie relaxes again.

"Sorry about that. Carl is not generally like that. He had too much to drink, and I will ask him to apologise," Jennie says. She feels embarrassed. Andrei can see his sister feels terrible, so he walks over to her and hugs her. Jennie let her brother hug her, reminding her of how close they used to be.

"Don't worry, sis. We do not blame you. I think you can do better than him, but we can talk about that later," Andrei says with a smile. Jennie smiles back at him, and Andrei can feel the bond he had with his little sister all those years ago. He always protected her and will protect her and her children.

"Thank you. I felt so embarrassed," Jennie whispers to Andrei.

"You are my little sister. I will always be here for you and your children," Andrei promises Jennie.

Jayden and Jayda were looking at what was happening, and they smiled. So they will help daddy get rid of Uncle Carl. They used to like him, but they do not like him anymore after today. So they pick their daddy and want him to stay with them and marry their mommy—Dante hands each of them a cellphone while Jennie and Andrei talks.

"Don't show it to mommy yet. It is our secret. My number is there, so if you or your mommy ever need my help, you can call me,' Dante says, and he shows the kids how it works. Andrei and Jennie are talking for the first time in years, and he tells her how sorry he is for mistreating her. He should have been there for her, and he should have been there when she was alone in this world with only her babies.

"It will take time to rebuild our relationship, but you are here for us now, and that counts a lot," Jennie says to Andrei, and for the first time, Mabel looks at Andrei and sees the gentle guy he is. Tristan is talking to Angelica and has been around her all day. Tristan likes the quiet Angelica and her soft laugh. Mabel is a bit jealous as she has wanted Tristan. Since Mabel was small, she liked him. Mabel is beautiful, but she is too famous for him, and it scares him as he does not want to be in the spotlight. So he took over his father's business in Paris. Tristan never really knew Jennie. He only saw her when she came to visit him and his parents, and he does not have a bond with her like Andrei does, but he is proud of his stepsister and how she handled being a single mother and becoming a successful partner in a wealthy firm.

"Don't worry about it, Jennie. We all have our moments. I am sure Carl will apologise to you tomorrow. So don't worry about him apologising to us," Tristan says.

"Yeah, he was a bit drunk, so do not hold it against him," Angelica says, and she sees her brother frowning. So her brother is jealous of Carl? Is Dante in love with Jennie? Well, he has been looking for her for a long time. Everyone assures Jennie they do not hold it against Carl or Jennie and Jennie feels a bit better. She is still angry with Carl, though. Tomorrow they will talk.

The twin hit their new cellphones in their backpacks. They love it, but they know if their mommy finds it, she will make them give it back to their father. They feel safe knowing their daddy is just a phone call away. It is time for everyone to go home, and Dante picks the twins up and carries them downstairs. He loads them into his SUV, and Jennie has no other option to get into the passenger side. She glares at Dante as he takes advantage of the situation.

"I still need to go and buy the children some things for school so that you can drop us at the mall, and we will take a uber home," Jennie says. She left her car at home when she, Logan, Jennifer and the twins explored Houston. Dante does not answer her and drives straight to the mall. He gets out with them, and Jayda walks between them, grabbing their hands.

"You don't have to come with us," Jennie says, hoping Dante will get the hint, but he ignores her and starts chatting with the twins. While Jennie is buying the books and other stuff, the twins will need for their new school. Dante and the twins walk behind her. Dante can not take his eyes off her sexy bum in tight jeans every time Jennie bends over. Once Jennie looks around, she blushes as she catches him looking at her bum. Dante only smiles and says nothing. Jennie does not want to fight with Dante in front of her children anymore, which is the only reason he is here. Dante Hudson, as the public knows him, never goes to a shop. He hardly goes out, and it is a rare occasion to see Dante Hudson from nearby. The two beautiful twins have become and sensation on t****k as people on the plane posted videos of the adorable twins. So when some people see them with Dante Hudson and their mother, they start talking videos in the shopping mall. Neither Jennie nor Dante realises it, and people share the videos all over social media. Everyone speculates about the twins being Dante's and their beautiful mother. Is that why Dante Hudson does not date? Is he secretly married? As they walk out, Dante pulls Jennie closer to him.

"You lied to me. You do not sleep with the Englishman," Dante says while holding her close to him so the twins can not hear.

"Well, my life has nothing to do with you," Jennie whispers back. But, to the people taking the videos, it looks like a couple in love whispering sweet nothings into each other's ears.

"We will see, sweetheart. I do not give up that easily," Dante says.

"You are wasting your time. I am not going to make the same mistake twice," Jennie says.

"Daddy, are you going to kiss, mommy?" Jayda asks.

"Maybe later, honey," Dante says.

"Oh, because I think all these people with the cellphones taking photos of videos are waiting for you to kiss her," Jayden says. Dante looks around and realises that a lot of people are recording them. Jennie tries to get away from him when she sees the naughty smile on his face.

"Dante Casella, don't you dare!" She whispers to him. Dante pulls her closer to him.

"It is just a kiss, and they have obviously been waiting for it for so long. How can we disappoint them?" Dante teases Jennie, who blushes. Then he let go of her as he does not want to piss Jennie off even more. He picks up the twins, and they walk to the SUV. Dante wonders how long these people have been following them and taking videos. He hopes long enough to piss Carl off the following day. Dante hopes Jennie will see Carl as he truly is. Dante has summed up Carl, and from the first time he saw him, he got nasty vibes from that guy. Carl is using Jennie to enrich himself, and he will not let her go as she is the goose that lays his golden eggs. They drive to Jennie's house, and Dante first helps to unload the things they bought before he leaves to go home. As he walks out, Jen follows him to the door to lock it as soon as he leaves. Dante grabs her and pulls her closer to him, and before she knows it, his lips are on hers, and he is kissing her passionately. Jennie wants to push him away, but she does not have the strength as her heart and body betrays her. She feels her mouth open to his, and she kisses him back. Then she realises what she is doing, pushes Dante away, and slaps him. Dante laughs softly.

"You liked that kiss and kissed me back. You are not as immune to me as you think you are, honey. Don't slap me again, though, darling, or you will regret it," Dante says.

"Regret it? What are you going to do, Don Casella? Feed me to the fishes?" Jennie asks.

"No, I will make you scream my name all night long," Dante says and walks out the door.

"In your dreams," Jennie says as she slams the door shut behind him. Dante still laughs as he walks to his car and drives away. Jennie is so pissed off at herself for kissing him back. She needs to take control and keep away from Dante.

The following morning Jennie and the twins get up early, and she takes them to their new school. It is a private school, and only she and her security manager have the right to pick them up after school. Jennie drives to work, and as she walks in, she can see some of the staff talking as she steps into her new office, filled with yellow roses. She looks at the flowers and smiles. Carl knows how to soften her heart. He is her best friend and always stands with her no matter what. So how can she be mad at him? He made a mistake yesterday, but he is willing to ask her for her forgiveness. Carl is always a gentleman, and maybe he was a bit jealous yesterday. She takes the car from her desk and reads it.

"I acted like a fool yesterday. Can you forgive me, my darling? Love Carl," The card reads. Of course, she will forgive him. Jennie has known Carl for a long time, but she also knows she does not love him as he loves her. He is safe, and she wants safety and security in her life. Carl is always the same, unlike Dante, who is a wild card and someone she better avoid, as he is dangerous. Finally, Carl comes walking into her office with a single white rose.

"Am I forgiven?" Carl asks. Jennie looks at him and smile. Why does he look so dull today? Jennie knows she has to take control of her life and feelings again. She can not let Dante walk back into her life and destroy the walls she builds around her heart. Carl walks to Jennie and wants to take her into his arms to kiss her, but she pushes him away softly.

"Not at work, Carl," Jennie says as she does not want to kiss Carl. But, it will just not be the same again.

"You never had a problem kissing me at work before, Jennie. Is it because you and the twins spent the afternoon with Dante yesterday? You know it is all over social media?" Carl asks, feeling a bit down and jealous.

"We were fighting most of the time, and he tricked me into it," Jennie says as she sits down in front of her PC, getting ready to work.

"It did not look like it. You looked like a couple in love," Carl says.

"Don't start with me, Carl. I am not in the mood, and please do me a favour and never mention that man's name again," Jennie says.

"Okay, but he will want to see the twins now, and he will not stop until he has you back. I can feel he is in love with you, and I do not like it," Carl says. He is still upset that Jennie did not stand up for him yesterday.

"That is enough, Carl. I am not his type, and he only wants to get to know the children, not me. So please leave it alone and get to work. We only have a few weeks left before the release of our new game. We still need to send out the demos and see if there are any hiccups. I do not have time for personal messes in my life right now, and you know I do not work overtime as my children always come first," Jennie says as she starts working, ignoring Carl. Carl walks to his office. He feels unhappy and afraid to lose Jennie. She is not only the woman he wants to marry, but most importantly, she is the one this company's future depends upon.
