Chapter 24: Discussion with a Demon
Jessie’s POV
I pressed my forehead to Jamie’s as I held her tightly against me. She felt so small and frail in my arms. I could not handle losing her again.
“Don’t ever leave me again!” I whispered fiercely, shutting my eyes tightly.
“I won’t, Jessie, I’m doing this so I can be with you,” she said softly, catching me by surprise.
I opened my eyes and scrutinised her expression. She was sincere.
“Once I’m Mother I will be able to marry you,” she reminded me. “I’m not permitted to marry while I’m Maiden of my Coven. Win or lose it’ll be behind me. I’ll no longer be the Maiden. I really don’t want to lose though.”
