Kingdom of Wessex
“King Abacus, the King of Wex!” the Herald of Wessex announced as King Abacus makes his way to the throne hall. Immediately, the King of Wessex stood to his feet to welcome him. “My friend,” said King Skull of Wessex as he greeted King Abacus with a hug. King Skull is well known for his plunder and his defense against the Viking raiders. He is a bearded old king but still looking strong and blood-thirsty for battle. His left eye has been badly damaged that he only sees, with one eye. This is because a Viking raider stroked him in the left eye with his sword.
“I got your message and I came as soon as I could,” said King Abacus. “I wanted to see you in person and talk about it rather than talking about it with a messenger,” King Skull replied. “Tonight, we shall feast and then talk,” he added putting up smiles. “Very well my friend,” King Abacus replied patting King Skull on his palm.
Kingdom of Maxis
“My Lord,” Gerald echoed from the entrance of the palace as he makes his way to the king who was about climbing the stairs. On hearing Gerald’s call, he waited for him to approach. “What’s the matter?” he asked with his eyes fixed on Gerald.
“The envoys have been attacked,” Gerald replied placing his hand on his sword belt. On hearing this, King Afa knows this could only mean one thing. He became speechless as he leans backward resting his arse on the rails of the stairs.
“Any survivor?” King Afa asked sternly after moments of silence. “No survivor,” Gerald replied. “This must not go unpunished,” said the King. “Find out who is behind the attack,” King Afa instructed. “Of course my Lord,” Gerald replied.
As he turned to leave, Adrian walked in from the main entrance of the palace, “Greetings your highness,” he greeted the king with a bow. Feeling lost and confused, the king glanced at Gerald, “I thought you said the envoys were attacked?” he asked with curiosity. “Forgive me, my king, I forgot to mention it was the envoys sent to the kingdom of Kez and the kingdom of Wessex,” Gerald replied.
“How was your journey?” King Afa asked fixing his eyes on Adrian. “It was successful and the queen says her treaty with your father still stands and you will have her support anytime any day,” Adrian replied. “That’s good news,” King Afa said. “I heard your wife has given birth to a son. Go and be with your family,” King Afa added. “Thank you, my king,” Adrian replied with a bow as he turned to leave.
King Afa approached Gerald and held him by the shoulder, “Make sure you find out who attacked my envoys,” he whispered. “Of course my king, I will do that,” Gerald replied. “Very well then, you may take your leave now,” said the king.
Kingdom of Kez
As Adux approaches the entrance leading to the throne hall of King Adam of Kez, the Herald announced him in a loud voice saying, “Lord Adux, the General of Wex!” “Your highness,” Adux slightly bowed before the king who is seated on his throne with two guards standing by his sides bearing shields and spears.
King Adam has been the king over the kingdom of Kez for five years now since the death of his late brother who had no son to succeed him. King Adam came into power by bribing the late king’s cabinet and nobles when they proposed the late king’s wife to take over the throne. This action led to a deadly rivalry that took the queen’s life.
King Adam often wears a golden crown that exposes his bald head. He always looks moody and very means when it comes to anything that will not favor him. “I am here on my king's order!” Adux said standing before him. “Why does king Abacus wants to make war on Maxis?” King Adam asked sternly. “It will be best King Abacus is not ignored with his offer, your highness,” Adux replied. “What offer does he make?” King Adam asked with curiosity as he adjusted on his throne.
Kingdom Maxis
“Brother, I heard what happened to the envoys,” said Ada as she walks in on the king who was seated on his throne. “We can’t ignore this,” Ada said. “I know sister,” King Afa replied with a gaze. “If we didn’t act now, they will see us as a weak kingdom,” Ada said. “Of course, but first we need to find out who attacked the envoys and then we take it from there,” King Afa replied.
“My Lord,” said Eva as she takes a bow before the king. “I spoke with the healer and he said he has a way to send you back to the land of the dead but it’s dangerous,” Eva said. “What are you talking about?” Ada cuts in staring at Eva. “Sister, I have to find out what father has to say about who killed him,” King Afa said as he stands from his throne.
“No, I will not let you risk your life,” Ada said. Turning to face Eva, “Did you advise him to do this?” “I did not my Princess, he just suggested that to me,” Eva replied. “Your work is to advise the king wisely. Will I remember that for you? Why didn’t you talk him out of it?” Ada yelled at Eva.
“You don’t have to blame her for that, she is under my oath to do what I commanded,” said King Afa. “Brother, I will not let you do such a thing. I will not be a part of this,” Ada replied. Her countenances change that her face turned moody. She slowly looks away from the king. She folded her arms and started tapping her right foot on the floor. “My mind is made up sister, the healer is already on his way to the palace, and I forbid you to tell anyone,” said the king.
