Brandon frowned deeply as he didn’t like his statement. He cast an unpleasant look at the man and said sternly “She is only 18 and you are of my age. How can you think something like this towards a girl who is younger than your son?”
The man started laughing loudly as though he heard a funny joke and said shamelessly “Brandon, my friend, arrange this girl for me. If you do this then I will sign the contract with you.”
Brandon’s eyes flickered and his eyebrows furrowed. He invited this man basically to talk about this contract. It was a million dollars contract and if he got this then his construction business would boom overnight. Initially, this man was hesitating to give this contract to him but now he was offering him freely on his own. He didn’t want to lose this golden chance though his heart was aching a little. But he couldn’t get weak because of his illegitimate daughter whom he didn’t raise at all. It was good for her too to get married to such a successful businessman even though he was much older than her. Thinking like this, Brandon nodded and said “OK. Prepare the contract.” The corner of his lips curled up wickedly while the man started laughing loudly again.
Mollie waited for Brandon in the study room for more than three hours. She could hear their loud laughter coming from downstairs from time to time and was feeling very agitated. Many times she wished to go down and talk to him straightly but she held her back thinking that this type of action might anger him. She came to request him not to pick a fight. She endured her irritation and waited there, sitting quietly on the sofa.
Another half an hour later, the door of the study pushed open and Brandon came inside carrying an imposing aura. He looked at her coldly and walked to his desk. Sitting down on the chair, he looked at her and asked “What is the matter? Why are you here all of a sudden?”
Mollie stood up and walked to the desk, saying “I need your help.”
Brandon chuckled and he sneered, leaning back on the chair, “Didn’t you say that you don’t need any help from me? Then what happened now?”
She closed her eyes and clenched and unclenched her fists for a few times, inhaling deeply to suppress the annoyance. She opened her eyes and looked at him sternly. Then she disclosed “Mamma needs surgery. Can you please lend me money? I promise I will pay you back with interest.”
Brandon laughed and exclaimed “You really come here to ask for money! Did you forget that you are the one who declined to take financial support from me? Now, give me one reason to help you.”
Mollie was stunned to hear his mockery. Yes, she had refused to take his help, once she came to know about him. Since childhood, her mother had been lying to her that her father had died when she was very young, but one day she caught her mother to take money from this man. Brandon used to help Marina financially so that she could take care of Mollie but he never acknowledged her as his daughter.
Mollie was 16 years old when she finally came to know about the existence of her father and she was very angry with him. She rejected his offer for help and threatened her mother, if she took money from him then she would leave the house. Marina got scared and didn’t take any financial help from him from then on. But Mollie didn’t know at that time that one day such a situation would arrive in which she would have to ask him for help. She sneered at her bad luck in her mind. Nodding, she said looking straight at his eyes “Mr. Carter, I heard that you have donated in many charity funds, but I am not asking to donate money to us. I am asking you to lend me money. You can do this for the woman once you liked.”
Brandon’s face darkened when he heard her. He never liked Marina. She got pregnant because of his mistake and he was regretting that night every day. He slammed his fist on the table and snapped “I have never liked her. It was a mistake and I have paid for that for the f**king sixteen years. I was ready to pay for the…”
“Mistake?” She caught this word and repeated it. “Do you have any idea what a disaster your so-called mistake has brought in my life? I hate myself for being a daughter of yours. If you can’t control your heat then you could have just ejaculated on the wall.”
Mollie completely lost her temper and snapped back at him. She turned around and left but before she could reach the door she heard him “Wait… I have not finished yet. Don’t you need money for your mother’s surgery?” After a few moments of pause, he continued speaking again “I will give you money but you have to do something for me.”
Mollie ceased her steps and turned to look at him. There was an unusual smirk on his face. She felt a chill on her back as an unknown fear emerged in her mind and stared at him skeptically. Then she heard him saying the most disgusting thing she ever heard “Mr. Robinson likes you at first sight and he wants to marry you. Say ‘yes’ and I am ready to bear all the medical expenses of your mother.”
Mollie was startled and muttered the name “Mr. Robinson”. Who didn’t know about him in the entire country ‘A’? He was the king in the construction business, but he was a middle-aged man. She felt nauseated thinking that Brandon actually asked her to marry a man who was of his age. She felt like she came there to trade herself for money. Anger seeped through her body and realized that he had a certain motive for asking her to get married to that old man. She wanted to know the reason, so she asked “What benefit are you getting from this?” She was angry but from the surface, she looked tranquil.
Brandon was taken aback for a while to see her calmness as he didn’t expect this from her. He thought she might get angry and shout at him. There was not even a single trace of uneasiness on her face. She was really stubborn. He chuckled and said “You are a smart girl. As you are so straight forward then I will tell you the reason behind this proposal. If you agree to this marriage then I will get a million dollars contract and it will benefit you too. If you marry him then you will never be in short of money. You can fulfill all your dreams and people will respect you as Mrs. Robinson. This is a win-win situation. You will be benefited from this and so do I.”
Mollie stared at him in disbelief. She felt disgusted thinking that she was nothing but a tool of business trade for him. This person was her biological father. Her hatred towards him intensified many folds. “Then I have to disappoint you. I will never accept your offer.”
Gnashing her teeth, she squeezed out those words from her mouth and turned around to leave. But Brandon stood up and snapped “You stupid… How can you let go of such a golden opportunity? Don’t you care about your mother also?”
“Humph.” She sneered “Golden opportunity!” She turned around and looked at him in contempt while saying “For me or for you? Mr. Brandon Carter, I don’t need your help with my mother’s treatment. This is the biggest mistake that I have come here to ask for help. I thought that you have some humanity left, but thank you for letting me know that you are no one to me.” Just as she turned to leave she heard his angry voice “How dare to call your father by name?”
“You are not my father.”
She shouted back at him in frustration and stormed out of the study room. When she came down, she saw Alysia and her mother Amber Carter, coming inside, holding many shopping bags. Their smile froze to see Mollie, coming down from the study. Alysia lost her composer and throwing down the bags on the couch, she approached her asking “What are you doing here? How do you come inside?”
Mollie was too lazy to argue with her. Without paying attention, she dashed out of the villa.
“You…” Alysia was about to chase her after but Amber held her hand and said “Calm down. Don’t bother about those lowly people.”
Clenching her fists, she looked up at the study while Alysia glared at the retreating back of Mollie.
Until now, Mollie was holding her tears but the moment she came out of the villa, she couldn’t stop her tears to roll down from her eyes. There was a ray of faint hope in her heart when she came there but right now she felt nothing but despair.
