Chapter 24

Rykers POV I was running along the pack border when I felt a frantic link forcing through to me. It was Asher who was bringing more forces to where I was located. "Alpha something is wrong. Annabelle tried to link me but was cut short, I'm shifting and racing back to the packhouse. Hurry." I stopped running and everyone stopped to look at me. My eyes glazed over they knew I was linking with someone "I am 3 hours run out I will be there as fast as I can. Get teams together and make it fast! Every second counts!" I cut the link and a growling roar rippled through my entire being. My pack winced and whined. I howled and linked everyone that could hear the link "Luna Annabelle is in trouble, she was attacked." As soon as I cut the link the men with me howled and growled and we all rushed back to the pack house together. I had no choice, I had the best tracker and second best warrior with me. It was a long exhausting run back. I broke through several trees, not caring about the pain I was inflicting on myself. I had cuts and gashes from running through the woods. My wolf was angry and my blood was pumping. After making it back in record time Asher ran out to me. We stormed through the doors and into our office. "Someone better start f*****g talking right f*****g now!" I boomed. "Who was with her and watching her?!" "Anthony was with her, but he is missing also. There was a lot of blood at the back entrance, some hers. We have two dead wolves." Ashers head hung low and my heart dropped. "Send them to the pack hospital and have Kerry update the family, they need to know." I sat back and my heart was breaking. My hands went to my face and I ran them back and through my hair. I stood and started pacing "How is the third wolf holding up?" "He is in pretty bad shape, he's in a medical induced coma. Lots of broken bones and he lost a lot of blood. His heartbeat was faint when they found him." Asher stood, anger across his face and he looked like he was ready to kill just as I was. "C'mon, I don't want to brief the pack just yet. Let's get Kingston back here ASAP He will need to stand in our place when we leave. Let us go to her last known place." We rushed down the hall and stairs quickly. I seen that food was still strown and my nose filled with my mates blood that was splattered along the ground. I walked around where there were droplets of blood. I could smell her scent as it went right into the forest and suddenly it vanished where the blood droplets stopped. My wolf howled in pain of his missing mate. I let a tear fall down my cheek as I fell to my knees. How could this have happened? Two dead, two missing, and one who may not make it. I stood as anger rippled through me. I turned and looked at Asher, "Get ready we leave in five." My voice was gruff and deep sounding, anger seething out of every word that I spoke. He nodded as his eyes glazed over letting certain memebers and warriors know we were leaving. He looked at me and nodded "It is done but everyone is gathered for a statement." I growled and stomped back inside, wasting my precious time to find her, they already have a three hour window. I slung open the doors, walking down the aisle of the crowd. Everyone side stepped me and my anger and the hostility was seeping off of me in a thick cloud. I stood at the front, clearing my throat. Complete silence, a pin could drop and everyone would have heard it no matter where they stood in the room. "We were attacked. Two have died, one is in the pack hospital and he may not make it." I looked as shocks and gasps were heard throughout the room before continuing, "Annabelle and Anthony are both missing and her scent ends where her blood trail has stopped. Your Luna is in danger and I have a team ready to go so please excuse me as I go find my Mate." I stepped away and everyone began speaking amongst themselves. I had several request to join our forces and help in the search and rescue of their Luna. I allowed many to join ranks but gave other the task of protecting the rest of the pack. We left in a hurry and moved through the woods at lightning speed. I was pulling far ahead and came to a cliffs edge and over looked as everyone caught up. They had to of went around the gorge. We took a small break and let the wolves catch their breath. I was running on pure adrenaline and paced down the cliff line looking for cues. Thats when I seen a small patch of fur and ran to it sniffing. "This way!" I linked to the pack and we were off again. My wolf growled as we all took off sprinting. Her blood was mixed into that patch of fur and my wolf had completely took over. I let him, I sat back and watched him growl and push forward. We were running faster, as we crossed the gorge and back up the other side. When we reached the top I paused to look around. I had a pack of thirty wolves ready to kill for my mate, their Luna. Looking at the vast area ahead I felt lost. I allowed my head tracker time to sniff and find a trace of anything that didn't belong. He roamed with four other tracking wolves for two hours before returning. "Alpha! I found tracks and drag marks about 20 miles out." I nodded and linked the rest of my members "Lets gather back we found tracks, twenty miles from our location, hurry back so we can go. The sun will be setting soon and we need to push as far as we can." I used my alpha voice. I shifted back to my wolf form and paced waiting for all my men to return. I was determined to find her by sun up, kill everyone who kidnapped her or had anything to do with the entire situation. My men were all together and we followed the tracker in the right direction. Coming along the prints I could see there were several different sized prints and the dragging marks appeared to be almost sled like. Asher was by my side "This is probably how they ended up transporting her." "Agreed. We have to get to her Asher." my wolf looked at him and I knew he could tell how I was struggling inside. "We will find her, don't you worry. You can still feel her, which means she is alive. She won't go down without a fight. She's strong." He looked ahead as we walked onward following the drag marks that left the smallest indentions into the ground.
