chapter 9: Cold and distant

1659 Words
Sabrina’s pov I could feel people keep touching me, it was annoying, but I couldn’t open my eyes because of the damn sedative. I could feel sparks now and again, but sparks? What if I am burning and I don’t even know it? But I felt oddly at peace despite the annoying heat I kept getting. I could feel the sedative wearing off, I slowly opened my eyes and tried to adjust to the light in the room. “She is awake.” I heard a voice, it sounded a little familiar, but this voice was a little too deep to be the one I knew. “Mate!” I could feel my wolf say, she didn’t sound excited but annoyed by the idea that we had found our mate. You see when your wolf’s eyes change colour and so do their emotions, the more you kill, the more your wolf becomes a soulless monster just like you. And believe me, I have killed a lot, so my wolf doesn’t care about anything really, she cares about what I care about, and the only thing I care about is revenge. I could finally see clearly, and I caught a scent, I looked at the owner and froze when my eyes landed on Bryan. He looked much older now, more mature and even more handsome than I remembered him. Definitely taller and fitter, wait Bryan? I closed my eyes again just to process what I just saw. Bryan, I mean pretty sure that the person I saw was Bryan, but then the scent was coming from his. The mate scent was coming from Bryan which means that he is my mate, so Drake wasn’t lying when he said this. I opened them again and this time looked around the room so I can tell where the hell I was. I looked around the room and I couldn’t even believe my eyes, the people were looking at me with smiles on their faces. I knew all of them except the annoying girl who was busy clinging to my brother, I guess it was his mate. I looked around and found Mel and Dylan holding on to each other too, I saw the mark on her neck, and she smelled like him. So, Mel and Dylan really are mates, again Drake was right. I looked at Queen Luna and her husband. She came to my side with a bright smile on her face, “Brina.” she said and hugged me before I could even process it. The heat from her body made me feel odd, it was uncomfortable but its like she felt it and moved away. “I am sorry, I was just so excited that I could stop myself.” she said with tears in her eyes. I didn’t feel sorry when I saw her crying. All I just wanted was for her to stop crying, that’s when I realized that I didn’t care about her. I didn’t care about any of them and looking at them I felt nothing, it was like I was looking at strangers I had never met in my entire life. All I saw when I looked at them were enemies, someone here had betrayed my parents and taken away my childhood. I slowly sat up, Bryan quickly came to my side and tried to help me up, but before he could even touch me, I stopped him. All I did was raise my hand and he froze in place, I sat up by myself and looked at the wall that was full of maps. Bryan followed my gaze, “I spent 4 years looking for you, and I found you. I finally found you.” he said with tears in his eyes. He is my mate, and he seems sad, I can tell that he is sad, but I couldn’t care less what he was feeling. Nobody tried to touch me again because they could tell that I didn’t like being touched. “Brina, my little sister.” said Zac. I looked at him and he had tears in his eyes, everyone in the room looked like they were crying except for my brother’s mate. She didn’t have to cry because she didn’t know me. I looked around and I almost smiled at the sight. Someone here, the same person who has tears in their eyes betrayed my parents. To me, they were all crying fake tears. “You are hungry, I will make you some food. You look so skinny, you need homemade food.” Queen Luna broke the silence. “I will help you, mother.” Mel said, those two are cowards, they are leaving the room because they can't stand the silence. I could tell that they had so much they wanted to say or do, but they seemed hesitant to do it. It's like they were walking on eggshells they were scared of saying one wrong word. Bryan’s pov I looked at Sabrina, she was so quiet, but that didn’t bother me much. I understand that maybe she went through a lot, and she probably doesn’t want to talk about it, or she doesn’t know what to say. Hell, I don’t even know what to say myself. I looked at Zac, Dylan, my parents and Mel and they all didn’t know what to say. What I still can't get out of my head was how she reacted when my mother touched her, it was the same reaction she gave when we slightly touched her. It was like she hated every minute of it, and when I tried to help her up the way, she stopped me. Her hand was so fast that I didn’t even see it for a second there, maybe it was all in my head but the movement of her hand. It was too fast for even me to see, I only saw it when she had raised it, but how it got there, I would be lying if I said I saw it. Now that she was awake I could feel the aura strongly now, I felt it when she was asleep, but it wasn’t this strong. She had this power, dominance and strength surrounding her, my father as the Alpha King has one too, but her was surpassing his. I mean there is no way that Sabrina is stronger than my father, which would mean that she is stronger than me. Again, maybe this is all in my head. When my mother and Mel left, I sat down on the bed. I made sure that I kept my distance, we don’t know what she has been through and maybe that is why she doesn’t like people touching her. “How are you feeling? Are you thirsty or hungry?” I asked her and she shook her head. “I missed you Brina, you don’t know how happy I am to have found you.” Zac said looking at his little sister with so much love. I was taken aback by the fact that she didn’t seem to be affected, hell she hadn’t even reacted to the fact that we were mates. “How did you find me?” was the first question she asked us, her voice had changed so much. I actually thought that maybe I didn’t hear it correctly, her voice was so cold, it was monotone, and it was somewhat distant. It was like she was talking to complete strangers. “Well, we found you at an abounded road, we got a tip that you would be there, and we followed it just like we have been following tips for the last 4 years.” I said to her. She looked at me and smirked, It was not a smile but a smirk that sent a cold shiver down my spine. “This Is the second time you are mentioning the fact that you have been looking for me for 4 years. Do you want a price?” she asked me. I looked around the room and I could tell that everyone else was just as shocked as I was that she said that. It's not only the words, but her smirk, it was so dark and dare I say evil, I looked at her and the I realized something. This is not the old Sabrina, this one had so much hate in her eyes, there was no light or hope in those eyes. She looked tormented, but she also looked like a demon of a kind. “No, I don’t want a price. I am just happy that I finally found my mate.” I said. She rolled her eyes and looked outside, she looked like she had something on her mind and then she looked at us again. “Can I be left alone please?” she said, but the way she said it, it was like she was telling us and the please was just a formality. “Of course, Sabrina, it’s great to see you alive and well child.” my father said, he then left with a shocked Dylan behind him. He hasn’t said a word to her, maybe he is still a little surprised or shocked or he still feels guilty because he didn’t come with us. Zac looked at his sister one more time and smiled, “I will see you later, Brina.” he said and then looked at me. They then left the room, but I just sat there, and she turned around and looked at me. “What are you still doing here?” she asked me in that same cold and distant tone she has been using ever since she opened her pretty mouth. “Well, I am not going anywhere.” I said, and she didn’t say anything but lay on her back and closed her eyes. What happened to you, Sabrina? Why are you so cold and distant?
