LOTTIE’S POV
I woke up with a start, my heart pounding in my chest as I glanced around the unfamiliar room. It was lavish, opulent, and adorned with exquisite furnishings. A room like this was beyond anything I had ever dreamed of—it was fit for royalty, not someone like me, a mere maid.
The soft glow of the crystal chandelier cast shimmering patterns on the walls, while rich velvet drapes adorned the large windows, allowing glimpses of the moon’s silvery light filtering in. A grand canopy bed, draped in sumptuous silk, dominated the center of the room, and intricately woven rugs adorned the polished hardwood floor.
For a moment, I couldn’t comprehend how I had ended up in this luxurious chamber. My mind felt hazy, my memories fragmented like pieces of a puzzle waiting to be put together.
And then, like a floodgate opening, the memories rushed back—my frantic escape, the chase, and the guards catching up to me. I had struggled and fought to avoid them, but in the end, they had managed to overpower me, and darkness had claimed my senses.
Fear clawed at my chest, and I sat up in the bed, rubbing my temples as I tried to make sense of my current situation. Why had they brought me here? And what was going to happen now?
My heart pounded in my chest as I made up my mind to escape again. I couldn’t stay in this opulent room, surrounded by the alpha brothers and their enigmatic intentions. With determination in my stride, I took a step towards the door, ready to face whatever awaited me outside.
But before I could reach the door, it burst open, and there they stood—the three brothers, their expressions a mix of concern and determination. I froze in my tracks, my eyes wide as I stared at them, feeling trapped and cornered.
“Leave me alone!” I yelled, my voice trembling with anger and fear. “I don’t want anything to do with you!”
Jax took a step forward, his green eyes searching mine. “Lottie, please, just listen to us,” he implored, his voice soft but earnest. “We don’t want to fight with you. We want to talk.”
My body tensed, and I took a step back, trying to put distance between us. “Talk? What’s there to talk about?” I spat, my anger bubbling over. “You forced this mate bond on me. I never asked for any of this!”
Rocco stepped forward, his expression sincere. “We never forced this bond on you,” he said, calmly. “But we want to make things right, to find a way to make this mate bond work—for all of us.”
I scoffed, my anger still burning strong. “Make it work? You think this is something we can just fix with a few words?” I retorted. “You can’t change the fact that I’m just a maid and you’re the alphas. There’s no place for me here.”
Calix’s voice was gentle as he spoke, “You do not hold that status anymore, Lottie.”
Tears welled up in my eyes, my emotions in turmoil. “I didn’t ask for any of this,” I whispered, my voice cracking. “I never wanted to be mated to anyone, let alone all three of you,” I whispered.
Jax’s eyes softened, and he reached out a hand towards me, but I flinched away.
“Just leave me be!” I yelled at them at the top of my lungs. “I do not want to see your faces.”
“Lottie, we understand your anger and fear,” Rocco chirped. “But we need you to understand that we are mated to you now, so seeing us is inevitable.”
I frowned as I opened my mouth to yell again, but I was cut short when Jax turned to the door.
He signalled for a someone to enter the room. A young woman, adorned in a maid outfit, came in with a kind smile, and Jax spoke to her gently. “Please, help Lottie get ready for the day,” he said.
I watched in surprise as the brothers left me with the maid, feeling a mix of emotions swirling within me. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but the maid’s warmth and genuine kindness put me at ease.
The maid guided me to a luxurious ensuite bathroom, where a steaming bathtub awaited. The room was filled with the sweet aroma of fragrant oils and bath salts, making the atmosphere feel like a spa retreat.
She motioned for me to step into the bath, and I hesitated for a moment, still unaccustomed to such pampering. But the maid’s reassuring smile encouraged me, and I finally submerged myself into the warm water, letting its soothing embrace wash away some of the tension from the events of the day.
As I relaxed in the bath, the maid gently washed my hair, massaging my scalp with delicate fingers. It was a level of care and attention that I had never experienced before. The water felt like a cocoon, protecting me from the outside world, even if only for a little while.
Once the bath was done, the maid helped me out and wrapped me in a plush towel. She led me to a vanity table adorned with various cosmetics and perfumes, treating me like a princess preparing for a grand event.
I watched in awe as she applied gentle touches of makeup, accentuating my features without overpowering them. The reflection staring back at me seemed almost unrecognizable, like a transformed version of myself.
The maid then presented a selection of exquisite dresses, each one more elegant than the last. She helped me choose a stunning gown made from the softest silk, its color complementing my eyes.
As she fastened the dress around me, I couldn’t help but feel like a stranger to my own reflection. This lavish treatment was something I had only seen in my dreams, and I wondered why they were going to such lengths for me.
Once I was dressed, the maid handed me a pair of delicate shoes that felt like they were made to fit my feet perfectly. She then arranged my hair, sweeping it up into an intricate yet effortless style adorned with delicate flowers.
The whole process was like a fairy tale, and I couldn’t stop the surprise and gratitude that washed over me. I had never imagined I would be treated with such care and respect.
As the maid put the finishing touches, she smiled at me kindly. “You look absolutely breathtaking,” she said, her genuine admiration warming my heart.
I felt like a different person, as if the transformation on the outside had somehow seeped into my soul. This attention, this care, I deserved none of it.
The maid gave me a small nod, before making her way out of the room.
After the maid left, the room felt eerily quiet, and soon enough, the brothers entered. I saw Calix holding a tray of food, a hopeful look in his eyes. Rocco spoke up with a suggestion, “Why don’t we have breakfast together?”
“No! I want nothing to do with any of you!” I screamed, my voice trembling with anger and frustration. The emotions that had been simmering inside me finally boiled over, and I couldn’t contain my turmoil any longer.
Calix’s hopeful expression wavered, and he gently placed the tray of food on the table. I grabbed the tray in a fit of rage and threw it away, watching as the food scattered across the floor.
Jax’s voice was surprisingly calm as he said, “Alright, Lottie. We’ll leave you to calm down.” The brothers turned to leave the room, giving me the space I had demanded.
Alone in the lavish room, the rage slowly subsided, leaving me feeling drained and hollow. I crawled into bed and lay there for what felt like hours, my mind a whirlwind of conflicting emotions.
Abs slowly, the sun dipped into the horizon, and the moon began to rise into the dark, thick clouds.
Evening descended upon the pack house, and my stomach grumbled loudly, a reminder of the long day and the food I had missed. Despite my emotional turmoil, hunger couldn’t be ignored. Determined to find sustenance, I decided to sneak out of the room, hoping to avoid any encounters with the alpha brothers.
Navigating the hallways of the vast pack house was no easy task. I moved cautiously, trying to stay out of sight, my heart pounding with every creaking floorboard under my feet. In the dimly lit corridors, the shadows seemed to play tricks on my mind, making me hyper-aware of every sound.
As I walked, I couldn’t shake the feeling that I was being followed. A sense of unease washed over me, and I turned my head subtly, catching a glimpse of a guard trailing behind me. I quickly deduced that he must have been assigned by the brothers to keep an eye on me.
Feeling both irritated and uneasy, I continued on my quest for food, following the tantalizing scent that led me to the kitchen. The aroma of freshly cooked meals filled the air, making my stomach grumble even louder.
As I stepped into the kitchen, I saw Rocco there, standing by the counter. My instinct was to turn and leave, avoiding any further encounters with the brothers. But before I could slip away, Rocco spoke up.
“Lottie, wait,” he said, his voice surprisingly gentle. “You don’t have to run away from me. I know you’re hungry, you haven’t eaten anything today.”
My stomach grumbled again, betraying my intentions to escape. I turned to face him, my emotions still a tangled mess. “You’re wrong,” I grumbled.
Rocco motioned to the spread of food on the counter. “Come on, join me,” he said, gesturing for me to take a seat.
I hesitated, torn between my hunger and my conflicted feelings. “I appreciate it,” I said, “but I’m fine on my own.”
As my stomach continued to protest, Rocco gave me a knowing look. He grabbed my wrist, warranting a gasp from my lips. Rocco pulled me into his lap and wrapped his hands around my waist.
“What are you doing?!” I yelled as I struggled within his tight grip.
Rocco grinned, “Making sure you don’t escape.”
He signalled for a maid and she appeared right in front of us.
“Alpha,” the maid bowed.
Her eyes met with mine and the words she spoke, left me stunned.
“Luna,” she said as she bowed to me.
