Chapter 12 Leahs war path

DANIELS POV

I woke up to find Mia still asleep cuddled up to me, she looks so cute while asleep.

I wrap my arm around Mia enjoying the feeling of waking up to having her in my arms cuddled up to me.

I wish morning didn't come so soon. She is so beautiful and looks so peaceful. I feel Mia is starting to stir so I quickly shut my eyes and pretend to be asleep. I suddenly wanted to know what Mia's reaction would be to waking up like this cuddled up to me.

I feel Mia's head lift slightly and she trys to move a little but with no luck since I have my arm tightly around her waist, keeping her close to me. She places a hand near my shoulder and says "Daniel are you asleep?"

Then a few seconds later I hear

"Daniel it's time to wake up" she says. I still pretend to sleep.

Then I feel Mia lay her head back down on my chest I can tell she isn't looking at me so I slightly open my eyes and take a quick peek, Mia seems to be in deep thought. I quickly close my eyes again to keep the pretence up. And I feel Mia is starting to wiggle trying to slide down little by little. I then decide its time to stop messing around.

Keeping my eyes closed I say

"Do you always fidgit this much in the mornings?" I say

"Your awake?" She asks sounding surpised.

"Yes did you sleep well?" I ask opening my eyes I can see Mia is looking up at me, she has stopped fidgeting now and just layed with her hand on my chest so she has slightly got her head up resting on her hand to look me in the face.

"I slept well thanks, I didn't crush you though did I?" She asks

"Your as light as a feather how could you crush me" I say while smiling.

"Okay well I need to use the bathroom would you like a coffee afterwards?" She asks smiling back at me.

"It's okay you go use the bathroom and I will have drinks made for when you come back out" I say as I loosen my grip allowing Mia to move.

Once Mia is sat up I get up to go put the kettle on and I see its 8:20am

I decided I wanted a fry up for breakfast so I started to get the bits out to cook that to.

Mia soon came back out and I handed her the coffee. "There you go" I say.

"Sorry about falling asleep on you last night" say Mia.

"It'd fine" I say smiling

"You must think it's silly not wanting to go to bed without background noise" she says looking embrassed.

"No don't be sorry, I understand and I really didn't mind. Just because you have had the funeral and are back doesn't mean you are suddenly fine, it's going to take time and if you ever need a shoulder to cry or even hug I will happily lend you mine" I say.

Mia just smiles at me.

"Alright I'm having a fry up for breakfast do you want some as well?" I ask.

"Okay, I'd love one please" she says.

We enjoyed breakfast with Leah getting up to the smell of bacon in time to join us.

MIA'S POV

The rest of the weekend went by really fast. I spent Saturday morning with Leah and Daniel before Leah drove me home on her way home, taking one of Daniels cars.

Saturday evening I did a big food shop while grabbing a few bits for the lady next door to me.

Sunday I had a lazy morning before meeting sue for lunch we had a good chat and she insisted we have meet up again for lunch on my birthday. So I insisted for paying for lunch and I actually won that arguement very easily.

Now I'm walking into work as Daniel rung me last night saying he had to get to the office a hour early for a video call meeting. I press the lift to go up to my floor I still have 15 minutes before work starts so I'm eager for the lift to hurry up so I can get a coffee first.

"Morning Mia" says Michelle

"Hi Michelle how are you?" I ask as she approaches behind me and the lift door opens.

"I'm good" I say as we get into the lift.

"How come your early this morning?" Michelle asks

"I want to grab a coffee first would you like me to make you a drink?" I say.

"Oh I'd love a tea if you don't mind" Michelle says looking shocked I offered.

"No it's no problem I will bring it out when I'm done" I say as we head out the lift.

"Okay thanks see you in a minute" she says walking towards her office.

I walk into the staff room and Claire is sat at the table

"Hi Claire how are you?" I ask.

"Oh no side kick this morning" she asks?

"What side kick?" I ask

"Don't act stupid you gold digging w***e!" She snaps.

"Excuse me who do you think your talking to?" I snap back.

"Oh I'm sorry I didn't realise you are actually stupid as well" she says.

"What is your problem?" I demand.

"You your sick and twisted using your mother's death to f**k the boss" she says.

"No i didn't you clearly have your wires crossed so how about getting your facts right before assuming stuff" I near enough shout but instead say loudly through gritted teeth.

"f**k off! since you been back you have been attached to his side even skived off Friday! What couldn't keep your legs closed long enough and to think he didn't look at you until your mum died! Then you used your mother's death to worm into his bed" she says.

I pick up a cup and throw it against the door.

"I suggest you shut the f**k up before the next cup hits your disgusting mouth" I scream

Claire stands up and slaps me across the face, "sick w***e! your mother would be ashamed of you" she says

I grab her hair and throw her to the floor.

"Be glad my mother raised me right otherwise you wouldn't be breathing your next breath" I say storming out the room. I run into Michelle

"Wow Where's the fire?" she says and I start to cry.

"Okay come on" she says hugging me.

"I can't stay here, I need to go" I say

"No no stop" she say holding my arm

"Who hit you?" she asks seeing the slap mark on my face.

But I shake my head indicating I don't want to say here since I'm crying

"Okay come with me" she says and take me to her office.

Once sat in Michelle's office she tells me to stay there she will be back with a ice pack.

DANIELS POV

After I finished the conference call which ended 10 minutes earlier than planned I decided to go grab a coffee. As I walked back towards my office Jenny said "Michelle was on the phone and needed to speak to me urgently."

"Okay pass the phone" I say

"Hi Michelle what's the matter" I ask?

"Mr Wicks I have Mia in my office crying she has been hit and says she can't stay here. I managed to get her into my office and I said I'd grab a ice pack for her face" she says.

"You what I shout! Who hit her? What happened?" I demand.

"Sir I don't know she won't talk to me she is just very upset. I don't know what to do she went to get us drinks but came out in a state" she says

I didn't even respond I threw the phone to the desk and ran down the stairs to the advertising department.. I went straight to Michelles office who was handing Mia the ice pack when I entered.

"Mia what happened?" I ask

She was crying still.

"Michelle go find out what the hell happened" I say

"Okay I will" Michelle says.

Michelle left and I took the chair next to Mia's

"Mia who hit you?" I ask while taking her hand in mine.

Mia carmed herself down then said

"It doesnt matter I resign"

"What do you mean you resign?" I say.

"I'm not staying in this company anymore that's what I mean" she says.

"Why? I need to know why Mia" I say.

"Because apparently I'm a sick w***e who used my mother's death to get into your bed according to them out there" she says nodding her head in the direction of the department.

"But you haven't we know that" I say.

"It doesn't matter, that's what they all think. Telling me my mother would be ashamed of me" Mia says before she breaks down in tears again.

"Come on" I say standing up with her hand in mine still.

"Where are we going?" She asks.

"To my office your not going anywhere upset, you should know I wouldn't allow that at least" I say.

"Okay" she says still crying.

I put my arm around Mias shoulder and lead her out of the department up to my office. Once there I make sure Mia stops crying." Mia I'm going to get us a coffee each I will be back soon okay?" I ask

"Okay stick a vodka in it to" she says.

Once I leave the office I get Jenny to make our coffees.

RING RING RING RING RIN

"Good morning Daniel" I hear my sister say.

"Leah someone has hit Mia she won't tell me who though" I say.

"What the hell? Why?" She shouts down the phone.

"Someone is accusing her of using her mums death to get into my bed. Calling her a w***e, saying her mum should be ashamed ect" I inform her of what I know.

"You what" Leah rages

"Leah she wants to quit as well" I say.

"Like hell is she. Keep her there I'm coming!." Leah says before hanging up on me.

LEAHS POV

I arrive to the advertising department and I walk in fuming!

"Alright you lot! You have 5 minutes to tell me who the hell hit Mia," I demand.

Everyone looks at me but doesn't say anything.

"What no one got anything to say?" I ask.

"Who hell do you lot think you are? Every day and night Mia has been with Daniel she has been with me also! They are not in a relationship. I didn't see any of you useless t***s stepping up to look after Mia when her mum died! no you all carried on with ya damn life's. Mia has no family or friends here, well she didn't until me and Daniel came along. And hell if my brother wants to date Mia I'd be happy to have her a sister in law over you horrid people. She has more heart and kindness than the lot of you put together. And then to go and insult her and use her mums death against her is disgusting" I say while looking around at everyone.

Everyone is looking sheepish though, good so they should be I think to myself.

"Well come on you better tell me right now who the hell hit Mia or your all fired!" I shout.

"It was Claire" said some middle aged women.

"Shut up" said some other girl.

"You told me you did it" said the middle aged women.

"Oh so your Claire. Well you no longer work here! Michelle get this scum escorted out of this building by security. Make them aware she isn't allowed back in this building ever again. I want her and her belongings gone within 30 minutes understood" I say.

"Yes I will sort it" says Michelle.

"Let this be a warning to anyone else that wants to hurt my friend, you won't survive here if you so much as breath wrongly in Mias direction understand?" I say while emphasising the word understand. I hear alot of "yes's and understood" as responses.

With that I walk out of the department and head up to Daniels office.

As I walk in I see Mia is sitting on the sofa drinking a coffee. And Daniel is next to her talking.

"Well that's that waste of space fired" I say going to sit in Daniels office chair.

"Who was it?" asks Daniel

"Claire" I simply replied.

"How did you find out?" asks Mia

"It wasn't hard I went and gave them all a piece of my mind and then demanded to be told or there all fired. Some women Claire bragged to gave her up. so now she is fired and banned from the building, she is lucky I didn't slap her face a few times for hitting you" I say.

"I did throw a cup at her" says Mia

"Well you should of thrown it at her face" I say.

"Little sister, I called you to come take care of Mia so I could handle things but you took the Job away from me" daniel says looking stunned.

"Don't worry I said enough for both of us. They all know they ain't worthy of being my sister in law, I told them however I'd accept Mia if you so wished to date Mia" I say

Mia choked on her coffee

"You said WHAT?" said Mia

"Well it's true id rather someone like you or even you if you wanted to date Daniel as my sister in law, over some stuck up cow that's horrible like that Claire" I say.

"Well I wouldn't date someone who is shallow and spiteful like Claire anyway" says Daniel

DANIELS POV

"Mia you don't have to work today but please don't quit" I say with pleading eye and a pleading tone to my voice.

"I don't think I can face them anytime soon, even with Claire gone though" Mia says.

"Then you can stay and do your work in Daniels office" says Leah

I actually like the sound of that I think to myself.

"I couldn't impose in your brothers office" Mia says

"Yes you can, we had fun Friday morning and it was nice to have company. You can stay with me in the office until your ready to go back to the department, but don't leave the company" I say.

"Okay" says Mia giving in.

"Right well I'm taking you with me today, come on we are going for a spa day" Leah says.

"That's a brilliant idea and I'm paying since you got assault in my company, its the least I can do to make it up to you" I say feeling terrible about what happened.

"You don't have to do that" says Mia

"No arguing" I say handing my card to Leah.

"Leah make sure you both have fun and treat yourself to everything you want today" I say.

"Thanks brother" she says kissing my cheek.

Once Leah left with Mia I headed down to the advertisement department myself.

"Mr Wicks what can I do for you?" asks Michelle upon seeing me enter..

" Your see" I say

"Right everybody I want all of your attention for minute please" I say addressing the whole department.

I wait until everyone is looking at me.

"Today an employee was assault wrongly, first of all my private life is no one's business! Secondly I do not tolerate bullying and violence within my company!" I look around at everyone as I tell everybody what I need to say.

"Thirdly I now have someone who has become a good friend of mine distraught!

I've been appearing with Mia as she was worried everyone would think she was crazy for breaking down when her mum died. Now I'm pretty sure anyone who loses someone they love that is dear to them would react the same way. Mia had moved here for this company meaning she didn't have anyone to support her. So my sister and myself even my mum took Mia under our wing while she was alone grieving for her mum. And now she is distraught while still grieving for her mum because people want to spread rumours! Hell she is one kind hearted women and all of you would gain a treasure of a friend if you opened your eyes. But instead now she is scared to come back to this department! Wants to quit the company all together. Me and Leah have taken ages talking her into not quitting but she will be working alongside me until you all can get your acts together. And when she does come back to the department play nicely because like I said I don't like bully's and neither does my sister" I say.

With that I turned around and walked back up to my floor not wanting to hear what anyone has to say.

"Jenny I need a laptop in my office from tomorrow onwards for Mia, also make sure anything else she may require is set up to please" I ask as I walk past her desk to my office.

"Of course" Jenny replys.
