Chapter 11 Getting closer

DANIELS POV

I loved watching how in love Mia was in love with the skytop restaurant, I knew she would love it after the helicopter ride we had. Seeing how much she didnt want to leave, I will have to take Mia again to. I made sure to make a mental note of that.

I've left Mia and Leah to shop for dresses, leaving one of my cards with them. While I've gone to find myself a new suit, I didn't need a new one but wanted to be with Mia a little longer, therefore I opted for shopping as well. Once we have brought our new outfits we will be meeting back up again. I decided to buy a black tuxedo, with a black bow tie that fits my body perfectly. I also had a nice white shirt.

I then went to the jewellery shop and brought myself some cufflinks as well as well as some gold diamond earrings for Mia's birthday. They have real little diamonds in and are beautiful just like Mia is. Then i was all done so rang Leah

"Hey are you done?" I ask as the phone is answered.

"Nearly, we are at the check out" Leah says

"Okay, I will come meet you outside the shop since I'm all done." I say

"Okay well we are in the shop next to where you left us we needed shoes" she say.

"Okay I'm on my way" I say

"See you soon" she replys.

With that I hung up and headed to meet them.

As i existed the lift I see Mia and Leah stood outside the shoe shop loaded down with bags.

"Did you have fun?" I asked them.

"I did try to just get a dress, but Leah insisted on the a bag and shoes to match the dress we picked to, I had no choice" says Mia.

"I'm not worried about that, you could of brought out the whole shop and my bank balance wouldn't of even noticed." I say.

"Still the dress was alot of money though" says Mia

"Well it's good to be treated" says Leah

"Okay well how about dinner?" I ask Mia and Leah

"What are you thinking about for dinner?" says Leah

"Well I thought I could cook us something and have a movie night at mine" I say.

"Okay I'm up for that" says Leah.

"I dunno, I don't fancy going home in the dark on a Friday night" says Mia

"Well my clothes are still at Daniels from the other week, I'm sure Daniel won't mind us crashing in his spare room" says Leah before Mia says.

"Well I'm fine with that! I'd love the company, however I'd never let you go home alone in the dark. I'd either take you or get you a taxi" I say.

"Well I'm not taking no for a answer! I missed you while you were back home" says leah trying to sway Mia's decison.

"Okay! Okay! You both win" says Mia laughing at us.

We arrived back at my penthouse just before 4pm. I switch the kettle on, while Leah and Mia go to put there bags in the guest room.

"Hey Cliff" I say answering the phone

"What are you up to tonight?" He asks.

"About to cook dinner for Leah and Mia why?" I ask

"Hmm, the same Mia you can't stop talking about, are you sure your not dating her!" He says.

No, not yet anyway" I say

"I knew it you like her alot don't you?" he says.

"This isn't the time for this conversation Cliff" I say.

"Well I was going to say do you want to go for a drink, Chloe is away with her mates on holiday but now I think I should come to yours for dinner instead" he says.

"Cliff so help me god if you show up and annoy me I will make your stag do full of male strippers" I say laughing.

Wrong guy that's more Ben's type of stag do "he says laughing as well.

" Excaulty so if you want the women you better be on your best behaviour, if you come along for dinner at mine tonight" I say.

"Alright alright I will scout's honour" he says.

"You were not even in the" . Beeep, Did he just hang up on me? the fucker I think looking at my phone and seeing he indeed did cut me off.

I finish making the drinks. Then get the ingredients out to make spag bowl.

I hear Mia and Leah are coming back towards the lounge laughing

"Hey you two your drinks are ready, and oh Cliff is coming over now to" I say.

"Why is Cliff coming over?" asks Leah

"He said Chloe is away and wanted a beer but when he heard my plans he just invited himself, even hung up on me so I couldn't argue it out" I say.

"Once cliff makes his mind up there's no changing it" laughs Leah

"Mia you will be meeting one of my good friends" I say to her.

"Okay then" she says smiling at me.

"Alright go drink your drinks I will start cooking dinner" I say

"Actually I'm just going to ring my dad if that's okay" Mia asks.

"Of course it is" says Leah

MIA POV

"Hey dad how are you?" I ask the second he answers the phone.

"Mia its good to hear your voice" my dad says sounding down.

"What's wrong dad?" I ask concerned.

"Nothing it's always good to hear from my little girl" he says

"I spoke to you last night, Dad what's wrong? You don't sound so happy tonight" I ask.

"Im just missing your mum more today that's all" he says

"I miss mum to" I say trying not to cry

"Now tell me what have you been up to today?" My dad asks changing the topic.

"Oh me I saved Daniel from some crazy women at work which we laughed about, then had lunch with Mia and Daniel before we went shopping. Now I'm at Daniels with Mia about to have some dinner" I say.

"Then why are you ringing me? You should be enjoying your evening with your friends young lady" he says.

"Because I wanted to see what you have been up to, did you see anyone today?" I ask.

"No i just spent the afternoon gardening and about to order take out" he says.

"Dad you can't keep staying hidden away see your friends to" I say.

"I will Mia next week though, I just want a few days that's all" he says.

"Okay dad well I will ring you tomorrow night. Okay?" I ask.

"Mia you don't have to ring everyday, I'm okay honestly stop worrying about me" he says.

"I know but I want to, plus it helps me feel better being so far away" I say.

"Alright love now go enjoy your evening" he says.

"Okay dad, I love you have a good night's rest" I say.

"I love you to sweetie" my dad says.

Once I'm of the phone, Leah asks me "if everything is alright."

"I don't know, I'm worried about my dad he doesn't seem to go out" I say.

"Just give him time" she says hugging me.

"I know" I say

"Come on let's go pick a movie before Cliff arrives, as his taste in movies is shocking" says Leah smiling at me.

"I'm going to tell Cliff you said that" says Daniel.

"Don't you dare" she shouts, Making me laugh secretly at there petty sibling arguingment.

10 minutes later me and Leah have already put on the film Joker and now Cliff is arriving.

"About time, dinner is ready to be dished up" Daniel says grumbling to his friend.

"Sorry I stopped by the shop for some beer's" cliff says to Daniel.

"Hey Cliff" says Leah

"Aww it's my adopted little sister how are you sweet pea" cliff says.

"Aww good till you called me sweet pea, do I look like a pea" asks Leah

"Alright alright" he says laughing

"Cliff you obivously know me and Leah and this here is Mia" says Daniel pointing in my direction.

"Hi Mia" I'm Cliff

"Hi Cliff" I say

Cliff seems to be around 6ft 4 I'd guess, has blonde hair very blonde with fair skin. He also has dark blue eyes that stand out through his black framed glasses. And he is slim not as muscular built as Daniel in my opinion. And he is wearing black Jeans, white trainers with a white t-shirt

"So how do you know Daniel here?" asks Cliff

"Well he is my boss so that's how i know Daniel" I say

"Hmm mmm" he mumbles.

"Alright Cliff since we were waiting on you, you can come help serve the dinners" says Daniel.

"Alright" he says

After they finish serving the dinners,

Daniel comes hands me my plate and Leah the other one in his hand. And then Daniel takes a plate from cliff while sitting next to me. I have Leah on the other side of me and cliff decides to sit next to Daniel.

Daniel and Cliff start to talk business, but Leah then scolds them saying "Oi we are watching a film here! Work stays at work if you want to talk business then go back to your company's offices."

I couldn't help but laugh

"What's so funny?" Cliff asks

"Well Leahs just said what I thought, there's a good film on and you want to talk about work like boring old men!" I say.

"Haha your both old men!" chimes in Leah

"We ain't old" says Daniel with a sulking face

"Aww that face doesn't suit your macho look you usually aim for" I say

"Mia I like you! It's official anyone willing to say something like that to there boss without fear of being fired is my kinda friend" cliff says.

"Aww I know I won't get fired, Daniel here needs my protection from the crazy lady at work" I say laughing.

"What crazy lady?" asks Leah

"I don't know her name but she is so into your brother and doesn't know boundaries. I've had to save him twice this week" I say laughing.

"It's true I'm seriously thinking about changing Mia's job description to my own personal body guard" says Daniel

"Unfortunately I declined I don't like the uniform" I say

Cliff and Leah are in stitches laughing

"I never thought I'd see the day my brother needed protecting from a women" says Leah.

"Seriously she is rude and horrid you would hate her" I say.

"Mia are you single?" asks Cliff

"Yes I am" I say

"You are a taken man" says Daniel

"No not me I know a few single mates that would love to date a women like Mia here" he says

"Oh there's no need to try setting me up on blind dates" I say

"Leave her alone" says Leah

"What's wrong with blind dates?" ask Cliff

"There so much hassle that I just can't be dealing with right now" I say.

"Okay so if it were someone you knew and liked would you date someone?" asks Cliff

"Probably" I say

"Interesting" says Cliff

"Alright who wants pudding?" says Daniel

DANIELS POV

The girls opted ice cream while Cliff opted just for a beer, so I dragged Cliff with me.

"What are you doing?" I whispered

"Getting my mate a date" he says.

"Right now isn't the time, Mia just came back this week from burying her mum" I whisper.

"Alright I will back off for now" he says.

We go back with the ice cream and drinks.

"Cliff did you get a invite to the charity ball next week?" asks Leah

"Yeah me and Chloe will be attending are you going?" he asks back.

"Yeah I am so is Daniel and Mia" leah says

"Sorry its Rosie" says Mia as she answers the phone and takes it to the balcony.

"Oh you defiently like Mia alot I can see it now" says Cliff

"I said the same thing" says Leah

"Alright shh don't be speaking to loud Mia just got back from burying her mum. I can't just ask her out on a date straight away can I?" I say running my hands over my face willing there to be some will with these two right now.

"Well don't leave it to long before someone else snaps her up" cliff says.

"I don't think she will be interested in trying to date anyone else atm" says Leah "plus she hardly knows anyone here. So I reckon Daniel stands a good chance" Leah adds.

"Oh by the way Leah do you realise it's Mia's birthday the day after the charity ball?" I say changing the subject

"Oh no i forgot, well she ain't spending it alone then" says Leah

Then we hear the door open

"How's Rosie and the baby?" shout Leah indicating a change of subject is definitely happening thankfully.

"Yeah good, Rosie wanted to check in see how I am but then Bella woke so she had to go" Mia says.

"That's good then" says Leah.

We finished watching the film and then Cliff said his goodbyes. After cliff left we decided to watch Titanic but half way through Leah fell asleep. I know she is a deep sleeper so I carried her into my room. Then I went back to join Mia.

"How about enougher beer?" I ask before sitting down.

"Sure the night is still young yet" she replys.

We sat watching the rest of the film in silence. I thought about striking up some conversation but decided I was actually content just watching a film with Mia next to me.

When the film ended Mia turned to look at me and said "Daniel are you tired yet?"

"Not overly tired but will probably be soon why did you want to watch enougher film?" I ask.

"It's not that, but lately I find it hard to sleep as I find myself laying awake thinking about my mum. If I don't have background noise to fall asleep to I end up getting emotional and crying myself to sleep. There's no TV in your spare room" she says while playing with her fingers.

"Hmm how about I grab the quilt cover and we can watch NCIS in here? I can keep you company?" I suggest.

"Okay I think I'd prefer that" she says.

I go grab a quilt which is king size then I go back to find Mia has already put NCIS on, its just starting. I throw the quilt over Mia's head which made her laugh. Before sitting next to Mia. She then took me by surprise and threw the quilt over my head while laughing.

"Okay if you don't want any quilt I will keep it all myself" I say while hugging it all for dear life.

"Okay I won't throw it over you anymore" says Mia

"Come on share it" she says diving for the quilt. So I decide to place it all over the both of us, while mia rest her head against my arm.

"Come on" I say as I move my arm to wrap it around her body instead.

"This is way more comfortable" i say.

Mia then snuggles closer into me while placing a hand on my chest. Within 10 minutes she is sleeping like a baby. I'd happily cuddle up with Mia every night if it means she sleeps better I think to myself before falling asleep myself.
