Kana’s POV
“What did I miss?” Jace says coming into the dining hall
“Lunch.” Kaden says to Jace
Man that kid and his mouth.
“Sorry, Uncle Jace got stuck in some business that I could not pass.” he says to Kaden
“Again?” says Kaden who looks annoyed
How awkward again is this dinning hall.
“Well I am glad you came for Lunch Kana and Kaden. As you see we made your favorite and Kaden’s too.” Jace says to me
I am still upset about them keeping secrets from me, but for some reason I just feel something eerie and wrong in here. Something just doesn’t feel right.
“Thanks. “ I say back to Jace
As I watch the side conversations I see Sophia eyeing my amulet. What is her deal? And why is she here again?
“Lunch was great!” Dad says to all of us
“Yeah.” We all agree and say to each other.
“Mom I want to go over a few things with grandpa can I?” Kaden asks
“Sure son go.” I say to him as they walk out and dad gives me a kiss on the cheek
“Kaden is very mature for his age already, don’t you think?” Asks Julius
“Yes he is.” I say back to him
“Matter of fact, when he was looking at a few books with me he caught an error in an old text he was looking at. Do you want to know what was strange about it?” Julius says to me
“What?” I ask
“It was in a different language.” he says to me
“What language? He’s only 3 how would he know another language?” I ask him
“You tell me! Your child is very knowledgeable for his age. With his grandparents background and yours you never know.” he says back to me
We look over and see Sophia trying to sit in between Jace and John.
“She’s a bit needy don’t you think?” Julius asks me
“What’s her deal? Does she not know?” I ask him
“Let’s go for a walk.” he says to me and we get up and excuse ourselves
“Mind if I join you guys?” Jace asks
“No. We have a few things to discuss privately.” I say back to Jace
He sits down and looks a bit hurt while everyone snickers
“You just crush his heart every time, Kana.” Julius says laughing
“What? He can’t stay in there and always has to be in my business every single time?” I ask him
“You know that’s Jace.” he says back to me
“I guess. Anyways, how are things? I know you didn’t take me out of there just for your own benefit.” I say to him
“Very complicated.” he says back to me
“How so?” I ask
“I will tell you now since your mate just found out as well.” he says to me
“He found out now?” I ask him
“Yes. Allister was talking to Jace this morning. A few months back when they found you, we went back to the location to figure out why they took you and who. They destroyed most of everything, but they left unforgotten evidence.” he says back to me
“How so?” I ask
“Underground we found a bunker in the sewers. It was a few miles out but in there we found almost a whole pack worth of wolves starving. It was as if they were left for dead.” he says to me
Left for dead? Why does that sound so familiar to me?
“And of those wolves did they all survive?” I ask
“Some. Some of them did not.” he says back to me
“Oh no. I must go back home and see if Allister is okay.” I tell him
“Most of them have been relocated, and some have stayed here.” he says to me
“Why would they stay here?” I ask him
“It’s hard with them to deal with not having their wolves.” he says back to me
“What happened to their wolves?” I ask him
“They were separated from their souls.” he says back to me
What is going on?
King’s Stefan POV
“Kaden how are things at home?” I ask him
“Good. Mom is adjusting to things and so am I.” he says back to me
“That’s good. Now what did you want to talk about?” I ask him
“Well I can tell that mom is not feeling so well lately and she hasn’t said anything.” he says back to me
“How so?” I ask him
“At night she has been having terrible dreams. Sometimes she will wake up screaming.” he says back to me
“Does your father know?” I ask him
“This happens when he is not with her and on patrol. She calms down when he comes back but only when he comes back.” he says to me
“Interesting. Does your mom know that you know about this?” I ask
“No. Of course not. I won ‘t stress her more. She is already going through her memory loss. I hope it all comes back soon to her.” he says back to me
“You are doing a great job taking care of your mother, but sometimes it’s okay to be a child.” I say back to him
“I know I am grandfather thank you, but I have better things to think of then to not think of my mother.” he says to me
“What does that mean?” I ask when the door is open
“Ah hello King Stefan, I apologize if I interrupted something important.” Amber says to me
“No no of course not. Amber this is my grandson Kaden, Kaden this is Amber.” I say back to him
“Hello.” says Amber to Kaden.
“Hello. You are a wolf?” he asks her
“And you are as well?” she asks him
“Yes, but I don’t sense your wolf. Where is she?” he asks
“Kaden this is something sensitive.” I say back to him
“No it’s fine. I must come to terms with this. My wolf was taken away. I am a survivor of the Hunter’s Beach facility.” she says to Kaden
I hope this conversation goes well. I know how hard most of them are taking this. The wolves that stayed there the longest have come to terms but the others not so yet.
“The place that burnt down?” he asks
“Yes.” she says back to him
“Why are you here then?” he asks Amber
Damn and there Kaden goes. This grandson of mine always just gets to the bottom of things. A true leader.
