Saving Amber

Jace’s POV
“Has everyone been relocated?” I ask Allister
“Yes and how about the ones who have decided to stay?” he asks me
“They have decided to stay in our coven or near it.” I say back to him
“The fact that you kept this away from me is unforgivable. You know I have been trying to figure this out for Kana as well.” He says to me
“I am sorry. I needed to check on a few more things as well since I felt something was suspicious.” I say back to him
“Suspicious?” he asks
“Yes. I think you have someone in there who is working with them.” I say to him
“What makes you think that?” he asks me
“Haven’t you thought how easy it was for them to get in and out of your castle? And then they were able to take Kana from your castle. If I were you I would look into your head security or who you really trust. This was too easy and the timing was known easy too fast for them to know when to get her.” I say back to him
I hear silence and then a growl.
“You okay over there?” I ask him
“I don’t like what you said, but I am not 100% sure that is correct too. Wolves, when they submit to an Alpha it’s very hard to betray one. And if they do they have left the pack.” he says concerned
“So they must not be in the pack anymore?” I ask
“Either not in the pack or was never in it.” he says back to me
“I am not sure what you mean by that.” I say to him
“That means whoever was here who is not from my pack allowed it. I know that Rose had something to do with this so I need to check a few more things in our log.” he says back to me
“Yes or who worked there that day or who is new.” I say back to him
“We have checked that already. I must find something or look for something out of the ordinary.” he says back to me
“Let me know of any update. I will help as much as possible.” I say back to him
“Will you? You didn’t this last time.” he says back to me
“And you now know why.” I say back to him confident as he hangs up
Still the same rude jerk as always
“Jace, sorry if I interrupted you.” Amber says to me
“Hey no it’s fine. Just finishing up a call. How are you?” I ask her
“I am fine, just getting a bit acquainted with the area and new surroundings. Your castle is beautiful.” she says to me
“Thank you. It is a big castle. I hope you guys like it til we find better boarding areas around the castle for you.” I tell her
If you think about it Amber has been quite helpful since we rescued them in the sewage area by Hunter’s Beach. She has been a great asset and helps around as much as she can here with cleaning, cooking and helping with the children and the landscape. She even helped fumigate the water and plants so that we can preserve water and recycle water at the same time. Pretty darn smart women.
“Jace, besides you and your brothers and your father, can anyone else live here?” she asks me
“We keep things very secure in the castle only for our family and guests in the castle which is usually just the castle, but I also have a sister.” I say to her
“A sister?” she asks
“Yes. She was adopted into our family. She is actually the queen of vampires now.” I say to her confident
“Queen of vampires? So she is a vampire?” she asks me
“No she is half demon and half angel.” I say back to her
“How is that possible?” she asks me
“Well only the King can appoint the queen. When he decides to have a queen the king will make her his queen.” I say to her
“I don’t understand. Wouldn’t you just have a lover there instead of your sister?” she asks
“Yes of course, but as of now I don’t have a lover so the next in line will be the next female which is my sister.” I say back to her
“Oh I see. Sounds a bit complicated but I understand. Jace I was wondering if maybe I can get a job here or somewhere within the company. I am not complaining about being a volunteer, but I would like to have my own income to live off of.” she says to me
“Okay of course. You do very well here on the estate by the way. Let me see what we have and then maybe I can find something suitable for you.” I say to her
“Actually that’s what I wanted to talk to you about. I was thinking of maybe trying to be a personal assistant for you. See I can help with things that you need help on with now. I already know your schedule and what you eat. I am familiar with your home and the people around you and I also want to know why and what they were doing in that lab. Could you consider it for me?” she asks me
That’s not a bad idea. She is right about most things but I need to see if I can trust her.
“Amber please meet my brother Jeremiah.” I say to her while he walks in
“As you know I am Jace’s younger brother Jeremiah. Nice to meet you.” he says to her while shaking her hand
He looks at me and nods. Sounds like she is genuine.
“Jeremiah helps me with making decisions on business affairs.” I say to Amber
“Let's do a quick interview outside first Amber and then we can figure out where to place you.” Jeremiah says as he leads her out
“Wait. Jace I just want you guys to know how much we appreciate you guys saving us. We would’ve been forgotten if it weren’t for you.” she says to me
“You’re welcome. I am glad that you guys are here with us now.” I say back to her
Looks like she will be joining me as a personal assistance. I’m glad.
