Sachiel and Simeon almost dragged their legs to walk the moment they finished their training. It’s been four years in Celestial Realm since they started their training and the more they trained, the more the tasks got heavier.
“I sometimes thought if I did the right decision to train as a Guardian Angel,” Simeon muttered. “I should’ve trained in the Archangels Program.”
Sachiel looked at him and scoffed a laugh. “You almost complained about our training as Guardian Angels because it gets heavier and heavier and now you wanted to train as an archangel? Imagine the training there.”
“Now that you’ve mentioned, right. I shouldn’t complain.”
Luciel just shook his head and looked at Serenity who was smiling ear to ear, skipping and hopping as they walk. “You really looked so happy, huh?”
She turned her head at him and grinned. “Yep! The four of us topped the training and they could absolutely send us for the final training and we’ll gonna be guardian angels! I’m so excited about it!”
“Calm down, calm down, Serenity,” Luciel said as he tapped her head. “We can’t count the chicks if the eggs haven’t hatched completely. I know you’ve been anticipating being a guardian angel and interacting with your future human but calm yourself first, okay? Hmm? Let’s just focus first on our training and do our best so we could be efficient guardian angels for the human realm.”
Serenity nodded like an obedient, enthusiastic child. “Okay. I’ll do my best to be a good—no, to be the best guardian angel!”
Luciel chuckled as he kept on patting Serenity’s head. The four of them continued to walk as they talked about their experiences in their training.
Suddenly, something exploded from the distance which made them stop in their tracks.
“Eh? What was that?”
They heard trumpets and horns from the other building and they saw the archangels, the principalities, the dominions, the virtues, the powers, and other angels rushing their way out of their buildings holding their weapons.
“What’s happening?!” Serenity asked, panicking as she held Luciel’s arm.
“Students! You should go back to your buildings!”
They immediately turned their heads to Archangel Jophiel who’s also holding her weapon.
“What is happening?” Sachiel asked.
Jophiel looked at the soldiers who were now flying somewhere before looking back at Sachiel. “The demons are attacking in the borderline. They’re trying to attack the Celestial Realm so we’re trying to stop them. Most of them were fallen angels who got banished years ago.”
“No way…” the four of them muttered in utter shock.
“You better go back to the building. We’ll handle this,” with that, Jophiel flew her way to the borderline as the four of them stared at her until she faded in their sight.
Luciel and Sachiel could feel Serenity holding their arms tight. They’re sure that she’s worried about what’s happening right now.
The two of them looked at each other before holding Serenity’s hands. The latter looked at them and saw their smiles towards her. “It’s going to be fine.”
They thought that everything was going to be fine.
Not until that sudden attack went into a huge Celestial War. It passed for almost half a year in the Celestial Realm.
Their training went to a halt because of it that even the human realm was also affected because the guardian angels that were sent there were also fighting the demons as they tried to invade both realms.
Everyone was affected and most of the Celestial soldiers were outnumbered in the said war. Even the angels that are still kids got affected as well.
Luciel sighed as he clasped both hands together as he sat on the couch. Sachiel, on the other hand, was also looking at the window, looking at the smokes from the distance, from the borderline. Like him, he looked so antsy and worried as well. Most of their friends were sent to the frontline and most of them vanished which made them so sad. (vanished—other term for died)
Who would think that they just passed their four years in training as guardian angels and suddenly, the Celestial War happened? Even he, himself, never expected and thought about that.
“When will this going to end?” Sachiel asked that Luciel looked at him. “I can’t really stand watching like this, waiting for this chaos to end. I badly want to help. We need to help them!”
“I want to,” Luciel told him. “I badly want to help as much as you want to help as well but as you see, with our skills like this, it’ll be such a huge risk for us to help. We’ll be their burden if that will happen. We’re not yet trained enough. We can’t just go to the battlefield knowing that we’ll be going to risk each other’s lives and be everyone’s burden. At least we could to help them is to tend and support them.”
“That’s not what I want, Luciel!” Sachiel exclaimed. “We’re already outnumbered because of this war. Sooner we’ll be going to choose if we’ll go in front or not and if that will happen, I will surely go in front and fight!”
“Sachiel, you don’t understand what I meant—”
“Luciel! Sachiel!” the twins looked at Simeon who just opened the door and panting in front of them. “This is bad!”
Luciel stood up and spoke. “Simeon, what happened?”
“Serenity…” Simeon panted as he spoke. “Serenity volunteered herself to join the army of angels and she’s going to fight in the front right now!”
“What?!” Sachiel exclaimed in shock.
Without a word, Luciel immediately went out of the room to go to Serenity. Simeon and Sachiel follow suit but Luciel is already ahead of them as he flew towards Serenity’s location.
As soon as he arrived, Luciel went to Serenity’s room and entered without even knocking. There, he saw Serenity wearing armor. The latter looked at him and she was a bit shocked when he saw Luciel.
“Luciel.”
Luciel walked towards her and hold her arm. “Serenity, why? Why are you doing this?”
“I wanted to help, Luciel. Everyone wants to fight to end this war and so do I. I don’t want to just sit, watch them and do nothing,” Serenity responded.
“It’s dangerous out there! You can’t, Serenity!” Luciel cried and held both Serenity’s hands. “Please, Serenity. Don’t do this.”
Serenity stared at him for a couple of seconds then she smiled. “Don’t worry about me, Luciel. I’m strong. Stronger than anyone else in our squad trainees. I can do this.”
“Serenity…” he muttered. The two of them heard the horns and trumpets which made Luciel hold Serenity’s hand tighter.
“Please don’t go.”
Serenity just smiled at him and caressed his left cheek and spoke. “I have to go.”
“Serenity no—” before he could even finish what he’s trying to say, Serenity unclasped his hand onto hers and went out of her room. Luciel followed me and tried to stop her one last time but Serenity had already flown her way out with her white feathers glittering on the Celestial Realm’s heavenly blue sky. Luciel stared at her, hoping she’ll look at him back.
But she didn’t. She flew away like that.
Without looking back at Luciel one last time.
