CHAPTER 66: The Celestial War (Part II)

“You worry too much, Luciel. You have to calm down. Serenity can handle herself.”

“I know. She was just too reckless sometimes.”

“You just worry too much.”

Luciel was just staring at her back the moment Sachiel and Simeon arrived.

“Luciel, Serenity is…”

Luciel hissed as he immediately went to the building of the archangels and went to the room where they usually kept their weapons and armors. Since the building was emptied because most of the archangels went to war, Luciel managed to access the room. Sachiel and Simeon immediately followed him and they already saw them wearing armor and holding two swords. Compared to the four of them, Luciel was the only one who can wield two swords.

“Luciel, what are you doing?!” Sachiel asked him.

“I don’t want Serenity to fight alone like that,” Luciel said and turned his head at Sachiel and Simeon. “We should fight with them, with her.”

Sachiel and Simeon looked at each other and both their gazes went on Luciel once again. With such determination written on their faces, they nodded and immediately got some armor and weapons for them to wear and use.

“We’re ready.”

Luciel nodded at them and they immediately flew out of the building and went straight to the borderline where they could see the three realms. They immediately saw Serenity with the other armored angels and in front of them were the archangels, the dominions, the virtues, and the powers and they were facing the hideous demons and fallen angels that converted into evil demons.

“Serenity.”

She turned her head at Luciel who’s now behind her. Albeit he looked tough, she could still tell that the latter was worried about her but he still managed to join the forces. She looked at Sachiel and Simeon who were nodding at her, telling her that they were also willing to fight. Her eyes settled back at Luciel and she nodded with a smile and they faced the demons.

“PROTECT THE CELESTIAL AND HUMAN REALM!”

As soon as the archangels yelled and raised their swords, signaling them to fight, they immediately yelled and raised their weapons as well as they immediately counter-attacked the demons’ attacks.

For trainees at their young age in the Celestial Realm, the four of them were really tough to bring down so many demons like that, especially Luciel and Serenity. They both brought down the demons around them in one or three slashes of their weapons at a time. Serenity was good at using spears and can defeat her enemies in just a few wields of her spear. Luciel was good at wielding two holy swords at a time. Simeon was good at using a huge sword that can s***h five or more enemies at a time and Sachiel was really good at bow and arrow that he could shoot more enemies and shot five arrows at the same time. They’re really exceptional as trainees.

Luciel already defeated five of the demons in front of him when Serenity suddenly shouted “behind you!” at him. He was about to get stabbed by one of the demons but five arrows were already pierced on the demon’s body. He turned his head at Sachiel who shouted “I got you covered!” at him.

“Thank you, brother!” he shouted and the four of them kept on fighting the demons around them.

Of course, both Luciel and Serenity, being partners on the battlefield, got their backs covered together as well.

“Ack!” Luciel flinched when an arrow suddenly buried on his arm which made him unable to wield his right sword and almost lose his balance which made him move back towards the dead-end of the clouds that they’re standing. Because of the injury, he wasn’t able to kill the demon behind him. Serenity managed to kill the huge demon behind Luciel when the latter got injured, confident that she killed the demons around them.

Or so, she thought.

The moment she got preoccupied with covering Luciel up, she didn’t notice the demon behind her slashing her back, making her look at Luciel with her mouth coughing blood.

“Serenity!”

“Luciel—urk!”

Three arrows immediately pierced Serenity’s body and four arrows pierced her wings which made her lose her balance and fell from the cloud-like cliff—the dead-end of the borderline.

“Serenity! Serenity! Hold on tight! Please! Serenity!” Luciel managed to catch Serenity on time but because he was injured as well, he couldn’t lift Serenity up and he wasn’t able to fight another demon behind him who was about to stab him with a huge sword.

“I can’t lose you, Serenity! Please!” Luciel was already a crying mess as he gave all his power in lifting Serenity up, totally enduring his injuries.

Using her remaining strength, Serenity managed to wield her spear, and the moment she managed to stab the demon behind Luciel, killing it in the process, she also lose all her remaining strength which made her lose her hold on Luciel’s hand and making herself fall.

It felt like the time moved slowly as she saw how Luciel desperately wanted to grab her but he couldn’t and Serenity was just lifting her b****y hand up, trying to reach Luciel and couldn’t.

“Do you really like humans that much?”

“I do. I really do. That’s why when we finally finished our training, I want to be a guardian angel.”

“We finally made it. We’re going to train together as guardian angels! You, me, Sachiel and Simeon!”

“Yes, we are.”

“Don’t worry about me, Luciel. I’m strong. Stronger than anyone else in our squad trainees. I can do this.”

“Serenity, please don’t go…”

“I’m sorry, Luciel.”

With her last breath that moment, she could only see Luciel crying and felt herself falling as her tears ran down her cheek before totally closing her eyes.

“Serenity!”
