CHAPTER 43: Guilty

“NO… NO… ACK!” The person sat up on the bed and put both hands on the head as soon as the person woke up. The person was shaking furiously that the person couldn’t help but mutter. That girl's face. He could still see it. Clearly. He trembled once again as his sweat ran down from his forehead to his cheeks. “Please stop… please stop. Stop coming at me!” “Do you already have leads?” Luciel shook his head as he finally sat beside Romina. They’re currently sitting on the school bench looking at their classmates who were enjoying their time messing and playing around. Of course, there are some apparitions joining them without them knowing as well. Romina sighed. Maybe she’ll get used to this. “The reapers are all tight-lipped. They won’t tell me how Caroline Singson died and who killed her. I can’t even sneak peek at their book of death even that reaper who obviously took Caroline before she kept on haunting the music room because of unfinished business.” Huh, even demons experienced this kind of difficulty, huh? “I know what you’re thinking. It’s not that difficult. It’s just that the reapers are very tight-lipped when it comes to this. They just don’t want to help since after all, it’s none of our business so cut that crap. Forget about the reapers. We’ll do it my way.” “How about we’ll ask Simeon? He could definitely help us,” Romina told him. “I will never, ever ask for an angel’s help. Especially a help from that annoying angel. As I said, we’ll do it my way. I’ll find the killer by myself,” Luciel stood up and walked ahead of Romina. Uh, did I just hurt his pride or something? I was just saying my thoughts. Now, I felt guilty. Romina immediately stood up and followed Luciel. “Luciel—! Ack!” Her eyes immediately settled on the man in front of her whom she actually bumped. Surprised, she immediately bowed to apologize. “I’m sorry, I’m so sorry Sir Santillan.” It was their teacher in Science, Mr. Frederick Santillan. “It’s okay, Romina. It’s no big deal,” Mr. Frederick said as he slightly waved his hand to assure her. “Why are you such in a hurry?” “Ah, I was just following my cousin, sir, since we’re going back to the classroom. I’m very sorry for bumping you, Sir,” Romina said, apologizing to him once again. Mr. Frederick nodded. “Hmm. It’s okay.” “I have to go now, sir,” Romina immediately walked towards Luciel who was staring at the teacher intently. “Luciel,” she held his arm. “Hey, Luciel?” “That guy…” Luciel trailed off. “That guy reeks.” “Eh? Does he reek? I haven’t smelled anything on him.” “Of course, you can’t,” his gaze followed the teacher once again. His soul is the one that reeks. “In the name of the f*****g hell, what the f**k are you here with us?” Romina sighed and shook her head. She could really hear Luciel growling at Simeon who’s just smiling at him. “Damn, go away, you angel!” “Why would I? Romina asked for my assistance so here I am, assisting you two of this case of this lonesome ghost who couldn’t pass the afterlife,” Simeon grinned at him. Luciel immediately looked at Romina and she could see how he felt so betrayed. “Don’t you trust me that much?” Romina immediately cupped Luciel’s face because the latter kept on growling and sulking while L was actually making fun of Luciel’s face while he was resting on Romina’s shoulder. “I trust you, of course, I do. But you see, I thought that Simeon might help us with regards to Caroline’s death and he could communicate with the reapers without sneaking. We should have our teamwork here. Okay?” Luciel sighed and he glared at Simeon once again. “I’ll let you accompany us because Romina said so but don’t act like we’re buddies here. Don’t get your hopes up.” “That’s good to hear!” Simeon grinned and he immediately pulled Luciel’s arm. Surprised, Luciel tried to pull his arm from Simeon’s hold but the latter didn’t budge. “Let us go! I sense some reapers from the distance.” “Hey! f**k! Don’t touch me! Let me go!” “We have to go, Romina. It’s a full moon tomorrow and the path to the afterlife is wide open at that time. We should be faster,” Simeon said. “Hey! What the f**k?! Let me go!” Romina nodded. “I understand. Take care, you two.” Simeon nodded and the two of them immediately transformed into their angel and demon form and they both flew something. Romina’s gaze followed them until they were out of her sight. She walked towards the music room to visit Caroline and inform her about the case but to her surprise, Mr. Frederick was there, peeking onto something. She couldn’t help but frown. The teacher is from the junior high department, so what is he doing in the senior high department? “Sir?” she could see how the teacher flinched and looked at her in surprise. “O-Oh, Oh, Romina. Fancy seeing you here. What are you doing here?” Mr. Frederick asked her. I should be the one to ask you that, sir. Wait, right… he’s been my homeroom teacher in 8th grade. He knew that I don’t actually go to the music room since I’m not into music so he might find it weird why I am here. Might as well make some alibi or something. Romina commented on her mind before she spoke. “Ah, I’m actually here to wait for my cousin and my friends. My other friend wants us to accompany her while doing her singing rehearsal.” “Singing rehearsal?” Mr. Frederick asked. “Mind telling me who is this student?” “Caroline…” “Ca-Caroline?” Mr. Frederick repeated. “Yes, sir. Her name is Caroline,” Romina mentioned subconsciously. “Thank you so much, William,” the reaper bowed at him then he turned his head to Luciel who’s tapping his foot impatiently. “Here it is,” Simeon said as the two of them opened the book of death of one of the reapers they talked to who, fortunately, was the one who saw Caroline from his list. Luciel looked at the list and read it. He even saw Caroline’s photo on one of the pages. “Name: Caroline Singson; Birthday: October 17, xxxx; Died: November 16, xxxx. Cause of death: Brain hemorrhage caused by a baseball bat and strangulation; the one who murdered her was…” “…that person!”
