CHAPTER 12: Saving Marivic, Part 2

WIPING MARIVIC'S SWEATY FOREHEAD, Romina looked at her best friend worriedly. She gently stroked her best friend’s hair, trying to give her comfort. “Marivic...” she couldn’t help but mutter her best friend’s name. She heard the school clinic’s window open so she turned her head towards it and saw Luciel in his demon form flapping his black wings before hiding it and transforming back to human. His demon form was a bit terrifying for her but she’s still trying her best to get used to it. She immediately stood up and walked towards Luciel. “How was it, Luciel? Did you-did you find that apparition?” “That bastard of an apparition is sneaky as f**k,” Luciel responded. “But I could definitely sense it in Marivic’s house, especially in Marivic’s room.” “So, you mean, it’s still planning to stay with Marivic than hopping to another host?” she asked. “Yes,” he responded then glanced at Marivic who’s sleeping peacefully on the clinic’s bed. “So I was planning that we’ll bring Marivic somewhere, in a much safer place for the apparition not to touch her or even get her.” “Get her?” Romina asked, frowning at him. “What do you mean about that?” “I’ll tell you later. First, I’ll take her to a safer place where we could actually watch over her. We’ll bring her to your house. It’s much safer there since we could watch over her,” Luciel told her as he gently carried the sleeping Marivic out of the bed. “Let’s go.” “Wait, wait! Hold the phone,” she stopped Luciel from coming out of the window. “We can’t sneak out like this. We should at least ask permission from the teacher.” “Why are you bothering doing such a thing? This is an emergency, right? Your best friend is in a dilemma so we shouldn’t get bothered or something like that.” “I know, I know. I wanted to save my best friend so much but we couldn’t leave like this. Don’t worry, it’ll be quick,” she told him. Before he could even utter a word, Romina immediately went out of the school clinic. Luciel sighed. “This is why humans are so bothersome.” In a snap, Luciel managed to open Romina’s window and entered. Romina managed to go down from Luciel’s back and the latter managed to gently put the unconscious Marivic on the bed. “Good thing Mama is not yet home or else I’ll gonna prepare my script explaining why went home at two in the afternoon.” “Seriously, Romina. Stop worrying too much. It’ll be fine. Our main concern here is how to get rid of that apparition.” “I really hope she’s safe here in my place,” Romina muttered as she gently put a blanket on Marivic. “As long as we’re here to watch over her, she’ll be safe. For now, I’ll wait for that—” Luciel silently gasped and Romina immediately looked at him. “What happened, Luciel?” He looked at her and spoke. “Watch over Marivic. It’s near.” “Wait—” Luciel immediately went out of the window and he didn’t even listen to what Romina is trying to tell him. Hopefully, he could get rid of that apparition, Romina looked at Marivic and held her hand. And save Marivic from it. Luciel definitely took so much time, Romina realized. She already saw how Luciel works with regard to apparitions and how to get rid of them. He could only do that in a nanosecond. No doubt of that, especially when she knew how powerful of a demon Luciel is. And this is the first time Luciel really took almost an hour because of an apparition. “I wonder if he’s okay...” she muttered. She just couldn’t help but feel a little bit concerned about him. She heard a knock downstairs. She knew her mom don’t usually knock because the latter already have a spare key with her. “I wonder who it is...” she muttered. “Could it be Luciel? But it’s not his habit to enter on the front door since he’s more comfortable entering on my window...” I wonder who it is. She looked at Marivic first before she cautiously walked out of her room and walk downstairs. “Could it be Mama’s order from Shopee?” Right, maybe I should just check it out. She went to the door and before she could open it, it got slammed open which made her scream and fall on the floor. “Hehehehe it smells good kekekeke…” she heard a creepy voice speaking. “Good. It smells good hehehehe,” she looked up and saw a black, huge hairy figure in front of her with red eyes, claws, and everything that made her feel terrified on what she was seeing. A monster. A FREAKING MONSTER. The voice became more eerie and creepy that Romina actually felt chills down her spine. She gasped as the monster’s hand went up and suddenly showed its b****y claws and her eyes widened, felt so terrified that she couldn’t describe anymore how scary the situation was right now. “LET ME HAVE YOUR SOUL!!!” the monster suddenly screamed. It was really terrifying that Romina didn’t actually have a chance to run and just covered her head to protect herself. “LUCIEL, COME AND SAVE ME!!!” “Finally, you already knew how to summon me verbally.” “AAACK!!!” Romina looked up and saw Luciel, in his demon form once again, appeared before her eyes and in a nanosecond, she saw how the apparition struggled on Luciel’s hold even if the apparition or the monster is much taller than him. Luciel’s hold is too firm that his black claws dug onto the monster’s neck, squeezing it like a stress ball once again and making it burst like a balloon. It dissolved into black smoke until it was completely gone. “Sorry, I was late for a second,” Luciel said as he helped Romina to stand up. “Are you okay?” Romina nodded. “Y-Yeah, I’m okay. Don’t worry about me. But… is that the apparition who’s after Marivic?” Luciel was about to answer her but he slightly flinched and he sharply glared at Romina’s door upstairs. “f**k!” “What’s wrong?” He immediately flew upstairs and Romina just went on calling him as she ran upstairs as well, following him. As soon as they finally arrived in Romina’s room, the two of them looked at the two figures in front of them. “Shit.” One is the apparition that has the shape of a ten-year-old child and it was holding Marivic. “Marivic!” Romina called her best friend, panicking. “I thought you already killed that apparition!” “That damn apparition. It is trying to take Marivic’s soul and overtake her body.” Romina’s eyes widen after she heard what Luciel was talking about. “WHAT?!”
