Chapter 11: Saving Marivic

1225 Words
“What does that apparition do?” After playing with some of Romina’s stuffed toys, Luciel went to her bed to sit and put his chin over his bent finger. “Hmm. It’s not that harmless apparition as I’ve said earlier. That apparition usually goes from one host to another just to suck energy from them. Usually, they last in one host for one or two days and they’ll be out to seek another host. They’re like bees, hopping from one host to another. That’s how they work. It’s just that, I find it weird that that apparition stayed for almost a week on your best friend’s body and it’s also growing rapidly.” Romina slightly moved closer to Luciel and asked. “What will happen if they stayed longer on their host instead of the usual dynamics that they do?” “It’ll be a huge bothersome and a trouble, to be real honest,” Luciel responded. “As I said, once we’ll let it stay with Marivic, that will obviously give us trouble. That apparition will grow bigger and your best friend will go weaker as well. Technically, that apparition is sucking Marivic’s life force and energy so if that apparition will grow bigger sucking your best friend’s energy, it’ll end up sucking her soul as well.” “No way!” Romina exclaimed, standing up in front of Luciel who’s now raising his head up to look at her. “No way! I won’t allow that! We have to save Marivic!” “Nah, you don’t have to worry about that, you know? She has her guardian. Her guardian could obviously work about it. No sweat. Don’t stress yourself,” he said, slightly leaning on Romina’s bed. “But Marivic hasn’t summoned her guardian angel yet.” That made Luciel pause. A pregnant silence filled the whole room after Romina said it. Romina slightly frowned when she noticed how silent Luciel was. “Hey, Luciel, what now?” “That’s... that’s one hell of a trouble, indeed.” “So, when are you going to, you know, remove that apparition on Marivic’s body?” Luciel looked at Romina who’s now walking side by side with her. They went a bit early to school so they could meet Marivic and have the chance to remove the apparition in Marivic’s body. “We should wait for the right timing, We couldn’t just remove it from her body knowing that it grew bigger as of now. It will harm Marivic and besides, you said, I couldn’t reveal myself to anyone, right?” he responded. “Right, right,” Romina muttered as she sighed. “I just don’t want Marivic to get harmed especially now that an apparition is leeching on her and she didn’t have any guardian to summon.” “I really don’t understand you, humans.” She looked at him with a confused face. “What?” “You can just mind your own businesses, you know? I know she’s your best friend but it’s not your problem anymore, it’s her life so she should deal with it,” Luciel told her. “That’s what a selfish person will think,” Romina pointed to herself. “But I’m not. She’s my best friend and I don’t want to see her suffer like this. Since I could visibly see this apparition leeching and worst, harming my best friend, the only thing I could do is saving her. She can’t summon her guardian right now so I will be the one to be her guardian right now. And besides, you’re also there to help me, right? Since you’re my guardian too.” Luciel stared at her for long seconds. “Now, let’s go! We have to be a bit early before Marivic could even enter the room so we could figure out how to remove that apparition from her. Now, let’s go!” Romina walked ahead of him, running even. Luciel’s gaze just followed her then he scoffed a smirk while staring at the human he’s guarding. “Humans have soft, fragile, and weak bodies... and so do their hearts.” The classroom’s door opened and Romina immediately turned her head towards Marivic. Their classmates were actually weirded out on why Marivic almost got late in class when she’s obviously the one who went much earlier in school. If only they knew. Marivic walked towards her seat. Romina could really see how her best friend looked so tired and pale at the same time. But even though she’s worried about her best friend’s condition, she still managed to greet her best friend enthusiastically. “Good morning, Marivic my bestyyyyy~” Marivic looked tired that she just smiled at the former. “Good morning.” And that’s it, she’s just too tired to talk to anyone anymore that she just sit on her seat and looked at their teacher who just went in to start their class. Worriedly, Romina turned her head to Luciel. “Luciel...” Luciel knew what she’ll be going to say. “The apparition... it’s getting bigger like an adult cat size already.” “So here, we could use these tools when it comes to combining mixtures...” Marivic suddenly raised her hand. Since she was sitting at the back, Romina could see how her best friend’s hand tremble while the apparition was busy sucking something on her neck that it started to grow bigger and Marivic started to get pale and weaker as well. “Ma’am, can I go to the clinic? I’m really not feeling well...” Marivic said weakly. “Oh. Okay, Marivic. You may go. You could stay in the nurse’s office for a while.” “Thank you so much, ma’am,” Marivic stood up and walked towards the door. She even held the door for a moment before she totally went out. Romina and Luciel looked at each other and by Romina’s signal, Luciel raised his hand. “Excuse me, ma’am, may I go to the restroom?” Marivic is getting weaker. She didn’t know why. She’s getting weaker to the point that she couldn’t understand anything in the lesson unlike before. She even didn’t stay up at night and even managed to sleep at exactly seven in the evening but it’s no use. She’s getting more tired than usual. Even her parents noticed how she was getting weaker. She’s easily getting tired as well. Right now, she felt like walking towards the nurse’s office will drain her energy more so she decided to pause for a moment. She even panted, trying to catch her breath even if she was just walking. Suddenly, she felt someone hold her arm so she turned her head and realized it was Luciel. “Luciel? What are you...?” Before she could say more, Luciel suddenly grabbed the back of her neck and before she could even speak, her sight went blackout. “Luciel!” he heard Romina calling him so he turned his head towards her. She’s now walking closer to him, her eyes settled on the unconscious Marivic in his arms. “What happened?” “This is more troublesome than we expected,” he looked at the unconscious Marivic in his arms. “The apparition escaped, and it grew larger than what we saw earlier.”
