“ARE THEY REALLY SURE SHE’S HERE?”
“Why are you peeking like you’re some kind of a stalker?”
“Ack!” Romina flinched and immediately turned her head at Luciel who’s also peeking with her as well. It’s already six in the evening and the two of them were still in school, peeking on the Music Room’s window.
Romina frowned at him and Luciel just smirked, teasing her. “A ghost’s stalker. That’s new.”
“What the? Don’t startle me like that, Luciel! And wait, where did you go earlier?”
“Simeon just kept on bugging me to accompany him to the library. At first, I declined but since he’s becoming annoying as f**k so I did.”
“Huh. So you’re buddies now huh? Two best friends~?” Romina asked him, obviously teasing him as well.
“What the f**k? No way in our both realms.”
Romina just stared at him with an unamused face. Why are you so defensive?
“I’m not defensive! I am telling the truth,” Luciel told her, begrudgingly.
“Stop reading my thoughts!”
“I’m not reading your thoughts. They’re just too loud that I could hear it.”
“Anyway!” Romina immediately turned her head towards the window. “I’ve been here for almost an hour and she’s not yet appearing. Are they really sure she’s here?”
“Are you really sure they’re telling you the truth that she’s here?” Luciel asked.
That made Romina pause for a moment.
Right… now that he mentioned it…
“Hey, you’re a demon, right? And as one of the powerful creatures in your realm, you can feel her presence, right? So, is she here?” she asked.
Luciel looked at her. “You really want to know?”
“Of course, I really want to know because you’re the only one who can sense ghosts and apparitions between the two of us,” Romina responded.
“She’s not here,” he responded.
“She’s not here? Really? Are you serious?”
He looked at her. “Yeah.”
“So you mean… my classmates are just making up rumors about her?” Romina asked, obviously disappointed.
“About that, they’re not lying either,” Luciel responded. “What they said is true. There is a ghost who lurks around here but as of now, she’s not here.”
“Eh? Really? Do you think she went somewhere else?”
Luciel shrugged. “Maybe. Maybe not.”
“Who’s there??? Are you students??? Why are you still here at this hour???” from the distance, they could hear the school guard on patrol shouting at them.
“We better go Romina before we’ll get into trouble,” Luciel didn’t wait for Romina to tell him something and he just abruptly carried her like a princess and flapped his wings out, and flew away.
“What was that?” the school guard squinted when he finally arrived in front of the music room. He tried to point the flashlight but he couldn’t see the figure anymore. “Is that a bird?”

The school guard immediately turned his head to the music room and peeked on one of the open windows. There, he saw a girl dressed in school uniform singing. From how he heard her, he could tell that she was crying while singing.
“Hey, kid. It’s getting dark. You should go home now. Your parents will look for you.”
The girl immediately stopped but she just stood in her position in silence. Of course, the school guard waited for the girl to move but she didn’t so he called her again. “Hey, kid. Go home now. I’ll be closing the school gate. Hey kid?”
Slowly, the girl turned her head towards him and he didn’t expect what he sees. The girl looked so pale and half of her face, which is the jaw part is all rotten with her skin and muscle and bones.
“Aaa-aaah-aaaah,” the girl walked towards the school guard but as soon as she went near him, the school guard screamed in utter fright, dropping his flashlight and running away as fast as he could.
“Ack!” Romina immediately sat up in her seat as soon as she finally woke up. She didn’t even realize that she took a nap on one of the library’s tables. Luciel, on the other hand, was tapping her head with a ballpoint pen.
“Oh, finally. You woke up.”
Bewildered, Romina looked at him. “Did you just let me sleep in the middle of making our project?”
“More like researching for our project,” Luciel corrected her and shrugged. “You stayed up all night thinking about that girl in the music room so I just let you take a nap. It’s not that bad though.”
Romina’s eyes settled on Luciel’s notebook and she already saw a very long paragraph written in his notebook. “Are you done already? Seriously?”
“Course. I’m awesome though.”
“Wow, sana all,” she couldn’t help but matter. (Sana all is a famous Filipino catchphrase for “hoping everyone could experience/have a certain thing or event or luck.)
Luciel shrugged in a boastful manner and Romina couldn’t help but roll her eyes at that.
“Ugh, this is just so annoying,” Romina sighed as she continued writing something in her notebook. “So frustrating.”
“Frustrating about your project or frustrated that you haven’t seen that ghost in the music room for days?” he asked as he played with one of Romina’s ballpens.
The latter looked at him in a sulky expression. “Both.”
“Wow, we really did finish at six in the evening.”
Romina glared at Luciel who was obviously teasing her at the moment. They’re currently walking in their building’s silent lobby after their librarian asked them to go home already.
“I just didn’t notice that I’ll take too long in writing my report, okay? I just want to make sure on that so I could deliver my report and no one will ever question me about it, okay? Sheez.”
“I offered my help earlier so you could finish quicker but you declined.”
“I have to work these simple things on my own, you know? I don’t want to depend on your power always. It’s not good,” she said.
A tiny smile flaunted on Luciel’s face as he patted her head. “That’s my girl.”
“What did you just say?”
“I said, you’re a slowpoke.”
“What the—hey, I’m not!”

Both Romina and Luciel immediately turned their heads to the music room and Romina immediately peeked on one of the open windows. There, she saw a girl dressed in school uniform singing. From how he heard her, he could tell that she’s crying while singing.
“Oh, it’s her.”
“Ack!” Romina shrieked in shock when Luciel suddenly appeared behind her. “Stop startling me, Luciel! I kept reprimanding you on that!”
“Why don’t you stop drinking too much coffee instead?”
“That’s not an issue here!”
The girl immediately stopped but she just stood in her position in silence. Slowly, the girl turned her head towards them. As expected from the rumors that Romina heard from her classmates, the girl looked so pale and half of her face, which is the jaw part is all rotten with her skin and muscle and bones.
“Aaa-aaah-aaaah.”
“I told you, it was her.”
“The ghost we’re looking for.”
“H-Help… help me…”
