“Could it be… Romina’s psyche was a rebirth from a strong being?”
That made Luciel pause and turned at Romina who’s now sleeping soundly in silence.
Could it be…
“You don’t remember anything?”
Romina nodded as she walked side by side with Luciel as they go to school. “Yeah. I only remember that the dementor was about to attack me and Maya and then I saw a bright light and that’s it. I gained my consciousness when you’re holding me and you already defeated the dementor.”
No… I didn’t do that.
“So you didn’t remember…”
Romina slightly frowned in confusion. “What is it that I forgot?”
Luciel looked at her and shook his head. “It’s not that important. It’s okay if you forget about it.”
She slowly nodded, convinced. “Okay, if you say so…”
Luciel gave her a tiny smile as he walked side by side with her.
“Luciel, I forgot to tell you something.”
“What is it?”
Romina looked at him and grinned. “Thank you for saving me and Maya.”
No… I didn’t do that.
“And thank you for helping her to meet her mom and pass the afterlife.”
That made Luciel pat her head. “Let’s go.”
Like an obedient, excited child, Romina nodded as they walked to their school building.
As they passed through their empty music room, Romina noticed a girl in white dress singing. She may hear it in a brief moment but Romina could tell that the girl’s voice is really beautiful.
But she wondered why the girl is singing about something painful and traumatic.
“Hey, have you heard about the rumors?”
Romina and Marivic looked at their classmates as they passed. They were about to enter their classroom but their classmates were having their chitchat in front of the door and of course, since Marivic low-key interested in listening to rumors, they both stopped. Luciel, on the other hand, was talking to some random dudes who wants to recruit him to their basketball team.
“What rumors?” Romina couldn’t help but ask.
“Let me guess, it’s another paranormal rumor around our school again,” Fred said in an unamused face.
Their classmate named Selena grinned. “Bingo!”
“Ikaw talaga, Selena. Tigilan mo na kaka-drugs mo,” Ronnie joined the conversation. “You actually kept on telling us about paranormal rumors in our school. Let me tell you this again. Ghosts are not real.”
Not until you see one, though. Romina couldn’t help but comment inside her mind.
“Hey! Just listen to me first because most of our schoolmates and even our school guards experienced it and saw it with their own eyes!” Selena said, motioning her fingers on her both eyes.
“What’s that rumor all about?” Marivic couldn’t help but ask. Romina turned her head to her because, of course, this is the first time that she saw Marivic being interested in this kind of conversation.
“So there’s this rumor spreading around that during five or six in the evening, there’s this girl wearing in a white dress standing inside our music room. Everyone that would pass through our music room will think that she’s just a student doing something inside the room during that time. One of our school guards saw this girl and he even managed to talk to this girl. He told her to go home because no one was around that time and all of the students had already gone home. And this girl turned to him and you have no idea what she looked like…”
“What does she look like?” Fred couldn’t help but ask.
“She’s so pale and half of her face, which is the jaw part is all rotten with her skin and muscle and bones. She looked like she was about to say something but the school guard was so terrified about it that he just ran away and was unable to talk for days,” Selena said. “People thought that the school guard was insane but it was proven that’s it true since some of our schoolmates saw that ghost in their own eyes.”
“Wow, that’s indeed… creepy,” Ronnie commented. “But nah, I still don’t believe in ghosts. You shouldn’t be afraid of them. As I said, you should be afraid of the bad people living in this world for they might and they’re able to harm you in many ways.”
“You’re watching too many crime, mystery/thriller movies, Ronnie,” Marivic commented as she chuckled.
“I have a point, though!”
“Yeah, right.”
A girl in a white dress? Could it be… Romina turned her head at Luciel who also met her gaze and tilted his head.
“Huh, a girl haunting our music room this time, huh?” Luciel asked as he kept on playing one of Romina’s cat plushies on her mini couch while Romina was writing something on her study table.
She turned to him and responded. “Yes. They said that there’s this girl wearing a white dress standing inside our music room. She’s looked so pale and half of her face, which is the jaw part is all rotten with her skin and muscle and bones. The school guard and even our schoolmates saw that man which proves that this man really haunts the school garden,” she responded. “She actually reminds me of The Corpse Bride by how they describe her.”
“I also heard about that rumor since our nosy classmates kept on talking about it since one of our classmates actually saw that ghost yesterday. Good thing, she didn’t approach it because she thought it’s just a student who was doing an after-school practice in the music room.”
“I wonder what made her haunt the music room. I wonder if she, also, couldn’t pass the afterlife.”
Luciel turned his head at her then went back to play her cat plushy. “You want to help her?”
Romina looked at him in utter surprise. “Did you just… did you just ask me if I want to help her?”
“It’s quite obvious by the look on your face and the way you speak about this girl. There’s no point of stopping you since you’ll do it again since you’re such a hard-headed brat,” Luciel looked at her. “If you want to communicate or help this ghost to stop her from haunting our music room and scaring the s**t out of everyone in the school then I’ll help you on that but as I said, don’t meddle yourself too much with the dead. Apparitions are not the same as Trisha the poltergeist, Romeo from the school garden or Maya that you can easily deal with without having yourself caught in danger or trouble. That soul eater and the dementor were not just the only apparitions that you might encounter. We’ll try to communicate to that ghost and stop her from haunting but as I said, this will be the last time that we’re going to meddle with the ghosts.”
That made Romina smile widely in happiness. She couldn’t help but stand up from her seat and jump on Luciel for a hug. “Thank you, Luciel! Thank you!!!”
“Ugh, I can’t breathe. Calm down,” Luciel sighed and patted Romina’s head as the latter gave him a bone-crushing hug. She slightly let go of him from the hug to see his face and grinned. “You nosy kiddo…” Luciel gently flicked her forehead which made her flinch a little before cupping her right cheek.
Could it be… you?
Are you… really her?
