Flapping his huge white wings, Luciel looked around the Celestial Realm looking for someone. He was also got greeted by the angels and cherubs below him which he responded with smiles, waves and nods but since he was so focused on looking for a certain someone, he almost ignored most of the greetings.
His eyes went on the waterfall visible above because of the huge rainbow below it and when he saw something, he immediately went to it. As he finally descended near the waterfall, he sighed in relief.
“There you are, Serenity.”
The angel with her long, shiny, yellow wavy hair looked at him with a smile on her face as she let go of the rabbits she’s holding. The two deers around her bumped their noses on her cheek as if they’re saying goodbye to her before they left her. “Luciel! How did you find me?”
Scoffing a smile, Luciel responded. “Of course I could find you. There’s no place here in the Celestial Realm that you usually hang out but this waterfall.”
“Right,” Serenity grinned at him. “Luciel will always find me.”
“Right,” Luciel nodded in response as he walked towards her and sat down. He, then, gently touched the huge white and pink roses on Serenity’s head, just below her shiny golden halo.
Serenity’s bluish jewel-like eyes looked at Luciel and she slightly touched the rose crown on her head. “Is it pretty?”
Luciel nodded. “Yeah. It is. It suited you.”
Serenity grinned at him. “The cherubs did this for me. They said I looked pretty with it.” (*Cherubs or Cherubim sent to guard the gates of Eden. Originally they were depicted as the bearers of God’s Throne, as the charioteers, and as powerful beings with four wings and four faces. However, in modern times, Cherubim have evolved into chubby babies with wings.)
That made Luciel smile. “It’s true, though,” he side-eyed on something before looking back at Serenity. “You used the crystal again.”
Serenity’s grin became awkward. “How… did you know?”
Luciel sighed and shook his head. “Last time, you descended to the human world with the guardian angels which almost got you punished because you went there without permission—if Michael is not really nice enough then you just got your punishment because of it—and now you used a crystal to watch the humans. Seriously, Serenity. I don’t know what to do with you anymore.”
Fidgeting, Serenity spoke. “I’m sorry if I made you worry again, Luciel. I know both Sachiel and Simeon were worried about me too. Even Michael and the others. But, I just couldn’t help it. I always listened to the stories about the humans and the human realm from my friends who are all guardian angels that’s why I couldn’t help but get curious about that realm, especially about humans. The moment I descended to the human world, I just felt this euphoric feeling and the feeling of astonishment of how wonderful the human realm was… especially the humans.”
Luciel stared at her for a second or two before he spoke. “Do you really like humans that much?”
Serenity looked at him and smiled. “I do. I really do. That’s why when we finally finished our training, I want to be a guardian angel.”
He raised his hand and gently patted her head and that made her grin like a kid.
Luciel silently walked out of Archangel Michael’s office and as soon as he closed the door, he sighed.
“Brother…” he turned his head to Sachiel, his blonde-haired twin who’s now walking towards him. “How was it? Did Michael tell you about it?”
“Yeah,” Luciel responded with a nod. “I turned it down.”
“Oh,” Sachiel muttered and he slowly nodded. “You too.”
“I didn’t know Serenity got offered as well. It’s very rare for women to be archangels.”
“She’s strong. Stronger than us, that’s why,” Sachiel said as he walked side by side with Luciel.
“Yes. And I felt proud about that,” Luciel couldn’t help but smile.
“It’s actually a shame that she also turned down the offer because she wanted to be a guardian angel for humans,” Sachiel told him. The former, then, turned his head at Luciel. “You got the same reason, right?”
Luciel looked at his twin. “I kinda admit that the reason why I also wanted to train as a guardian angel is because I could also watch over Serenity. You know that little sister of ours is so fond of humans. These past few days, she’s been doing reckless things just to see humans and interact with them.”
Sachiel couldn’t help but smile and patted Luciel. “You worry too much, Luciel. You have to calm down. Serenity can handle herself.”
“I know. She was just too reckless sometimes.”
“You just worry too much.”
“You did turn down the offer as well.”
“Uh, I actually don’t want to be left out, you know? I wanna be an archangel but I don’t want you, Serenity and Simeon left behind so I want to train with you all.”
“You’re hopeless, just like Serenity.”
Sachiel’s eyes settled on someone standing in the middle of the hallway. “Speaking of which…”
Luciel’s eyes settled at Serenity who was pacing back and forth nervously while Simeon kept on telling her to calm down. When she felt their presence, she immediately turned her head towards the twins and ran towards them. Simeon shook his head as he followed suit.
“Luciel!” she called and stopped in front of him, “H-How was it?”
Luciel stared at her for a couple of seconds before his hand went on her head to pat her.
“What?”
Luciel and Sachiel looked at each other and with a smile, they looked at Serenity who looked so confused at them.
“Welcome, angels. I am Jophiel and I am your supervisor for your training to become full-fledged guardian angels for the human realm.”
Lining up in their own lines, Luciel and Serenity looked at each other and smiled.
“We finally made it. We’re going to train together as guardian angels!” Serenity said, grinning and almost squealing in her place. “You, me, Sachiel and Simeon!”
Luciel just smiled at her and nodded. “Yes, we are.”
Everything went smoothly on their first day in training as guardian angels. They’re looking forward to their next step of becoming one, especially Serenity. Everything was just according to the plan, everything just went so smoothly.
Or so, they thought.
