Chapter 3: Impossible!

1003 Words
"They are three police vans behind us and another one coming from the west." Mabel muttered typing away on her phone in a relaxed manner. Elsa grinned. She whizzed past different cars giving a lot of citizens a great scare. The sound of police vehicles was already being heard. Raising her eyes, Mabel kindly reminded: "we're three minutes from being late and it's a ten minutes drive from here to school" Elsa's glistening eyes finally returned to normal. Impatiently turning her head to look at Mabel, she asked; "You won't die if you miss school today right?" Mabel lowered back her eyes to her phone. "I would." With a defeated expression, Elsa lost the police and drove straight to school. The car came to a halt in front of the school. Mabel glanced at her time, they were two minutes late. Turning to glare at Elsa, she opened the car's door and stepped down. As the two walked into the quiet hallway, Mabel recalled something. "I heard they'd be an activity today. More like a qualification sport game." Elsa who had her eyes lowered and was mentally preparing herself for sleep, raised her head and asked: "What kind of sport? Would stuffs happen? Like hitting people and the likes of that?" Mabel didn't bother to glance at the girl beside her. She grew up with the girl and knew she was an i***t who only loved the sight of blood and violence. "Why do I think you're compatible with Alpha Damien?" Mabel asked with a teasing smile. The question made Mabel's heart skip a little. Shrugging away the upcoming thoughts which were making its way to her head at a fast pace, she retorted: "We both know that's impossible. I heard he has mate" "She's dead." "Oh, heard he has a kind of madness that moves him to kill. Why would the moon goddess even assign her a mate?!" Elsa sighed. She was really troubled. Four years ago after she heard the man had strangled his mate by mistake, she felt a cold chill run down her spine. They were mates, did that mean he felt no pain when he strangled her? It was simply.... "Snap out of your miserable thoughts!" Mabel said flicking Elsa's forehead, pointing at the classroom which they were about to enter, she continued: "You should be racking your brains on how to plead with Miss Mark!" "Do I need to? How about I just walk in without acknowledging her and turn a blind eye to her?" Elsa suggested with a grin. Mabel narrowed her eyes, then lightly knocked on the other party's forehead. "You can't do that because you're with me! I'm a well behaved student, who gets at least four A's and the rest of B's. Why would you try to spoil my good record?" Mabel reprimanded lowly. Moving away from her grip, Elsa directly pushed the door open and walked in. The class which was going on, was involuntarily put on hold. Instantly forgetting her discussion outside with Mabel, Elsa walked straight up to her seat situated at the back row. Mabel who walked in after her couldn't help twitching her lips awkwardly. Unlike the other students who their jotters and textbooks down on their desks, Elsa actually spread a short blanket on her desk and rested her head on it. It was unknown if she had fallen asleep but everyone got the obvious meaning behind her actions. "I'm sorry Miss Mark, Elsa and I were both held back by traffic and she's also in a bad mood" Mabel hurriedly apologized. Eva who had gotten to school earlier, and was currently In the same class, who had a serious expression on her face, muttered: "She's always in a bad mood" No one knew if she did it on purpose but her voice was loud enough for the whole class to hear. The teachers who had stayed for so long in the school, including the students who had grown up with Elsa, knew Eva was being sarcastic and was directly countering Mabel. What Elsa did upon arriving was the same thing she did all the time! Even when she arrived early for school, she would have her head lowered or an earpiece tucked into her ears while she either gazed out of the window or sketched something on her notepad. Mabel wasn't bothered by Eva's speech. She totally ignored it and walked towards the back row too, taking her seat beside Elsa's. The lesson continued and throughout the lesson, Elsa had her head placed on her desk. Elsa stretched three seconds after Miss Mark left the class. "She left an assignment" Mabel who was scribbling on her notepad muttered seeing her lazy cousin wake up. "Direct me to the page" Elsa yawned. Mabel said nothing for a few seconds, then dropped her and took out her textbook. She turned to a page and passed it to Elsa. "I marked the exercise with a red pen" Elsa unzipped her bag and searched for the particular textbook. Sighting it, she carefully took it out and opened to the page. Taking out a pen, Mabel watched as the pen danced on the textbook. After ten minutes of complete silence from Elsa, she finally stopped writing, carefully placed the pen carefully into her back and rested her head back on her desk. Out of curiosity, Mabel reached over and took the textbook. What she expected to see were a bunch of rubbish but she never expected to see...some sort of long equations. Hurriedly glancing at the whiteboard where Miss Mark had left the answer for the exercise, her eyes widened seeing it was exactly the same. If she hadn't watched Elsa the whole time she would have doubted if really the method she used was taken from the earth or something. For a moment, her eyes darted towards Eva who seemed to be struggling with whatever she was writing. Something flashed into her head and her eyes widened. Could it be...?
