I knew something was wrong with Hunter; I could feel it in my soul. I had no idea how I knew, but I just did, and it spiked fear and concern inside me. I could barely breathe because I felt so overwhelmed and tense.
Maddox didn't believe me at first, but after calling the king and hearing the chaos in the background, he knew something wasn't right, too.
It was his turn to pace around the cabin's kitchen, trying to decide what to do while I drove myself crazy with thoughts of the worst-case scenario.
He was hesitant to do anything because of me, and that bothered me the most. What if Hunter was in trouble and Maddox could have helped him, but he was stuck here babysitting me instead?
