Fallow

*Cali POV* Fallow is humongous, prestigious and everything I heard it to be. I take in the fresh air as soon as the car stops and the driver opens the door for me. It might be my imagination but I swear I can smell unlimited knowledge here. I will get as much as I can and work as hard to be the best engineer I can ever be. The endless opportunities and possibilities are just imaginable. No nameless slave or Omega and very few Gamma’s ever got to study here. I will never take this for granted. “This way, Ma’am.” My trail of thought is disturbed by my driver. He is carrying my bags and walking towards the four floored building with a golden Ruber city pack emblem mounted at the entrance. This must be the pack house. I let out a sigh as I embrace myself for what awaits me inside. “Welcome to the pack house, Miss Taylor. I am Dovy the house steward,” a middle aged man with a Beta title greets kindly. He reminds me a lot of Nora and I immediately take liking to him. Usually, the Beta’s either give me the fake creepy smiles or the suspicious ’you don’t belong here’ look but all I see in him is genuine kindness. “Nice to meet you, Dovy. Please call me Cali.” He flashes me a smile. “Your room is right corner on the fourth floor.” “Thank you,” I respond and follow my driver to the elevator. My eyes scan around as I walk. There is a lot of activity on this floor. The open plan allows me to see the whole floor. On the right of the elevators is what looks like a lounge area. The section on the left must be entertainment area. There are pool and table tennis tables, a DJ stand and an infinity swimming pool taking the whole left side of the elevators. Amazing! This looks more like a five star hotel than a university residence. The elevator takes us to the fourth floor. My jaw drops when I see my room. My bedroom in Marcus mansion was breathtaking, but this is exquisite! I thank the driver and dismiss him before exploring my massive in suite bedroom. “Marcus,” I shake my head when I notice that although this bed is bigger than the one at home, the linen is exactly the same. The curtains and side lamps too. He knew that I was a bit nervous about coming here. A bit of home makes me feel at ease. Only he would have thought of something like this. I take out my phone and call him. “There yet?” “Yes and thank you.” “You sound happy. No longer nervous?” “I am, but the linen and curtains are.. it feels like home. You are the best!” “Linen and curtains?” He sounds surprised, probably pulling my leg. “Don’t do that. I know it was you.” “I honestly have no idea what you are talking about.” “So you did not give Leroy the exact linen and curtains I have in my room at home?” He does not respond and my heart starts hammering. I know that silence. “Tell me about your room,”he asks after a few moments of silence. I walk through the massive suite, telling him everything I see and his response sends chills down my spine. “You are in the Alpha’s suite.” “No.. wait.. what?” “Pack houses are generally designed the same way, Cali. The top floor is reserved for the Alpha and his family. Third is for the Beta’s. The second will be for the gamma’s who will be cleaning, cooking and maintaining the house. The lower floor is the kitchen, dining and entertainment areas.” “The pack stuart pointed me to this room. Maybe he made a mistake,” I try to reason, already heading towards the door. This means Leroy is on this floor. The sooner I move my bags out of here the better. “I don’t think so. The linen is yours. That means he wants you there.” I stop on my tracks. I told Leroy to place me as far away from him as possible and he did the exact opposite. How is he even going to justify putting me here when all other Beta’s are on the third floor? “It’s probably your punishment for refusing to travel with him,” Marcus suggests, amused. I told Leroy a week ago that I had no intentions of traveling with him. The prom dance was enough, there was no way I was going to sit next to him for four hours. That’s how long it takes to get here from Ruber city. Nora told me that he was not very pleased this morning when he came to pick me up and I was not there. I had intentionally planned to do my last minute shopping for toiletries but it was mainly a way to avoid him. “Well, I am not staying in this floor.” Marcus laughs. “I am so glad I am not there to see you two fight.” I head back to the ground floor after ending my call with Marcus and meet Dovy who flashes me a smile. “My room is on the Alpha’s floor.” “Yes, Ma’am.” “Cali,” I correct. “I want to move to the Beta’s floor.” “I am afraid that will be the Alpha’s call.” “But..” “I follow my Alpha’s orders. I hope you understand,” he explains. It’s clear that he had strict orders about this. I have no choice but speak to Leroy. “Okay. Where is he?” He points me towards the swimming pool and I head there. I am a feet away from the pool when I see him. I immediately turn around and head back to the fourth floor. Sky can never see me blushing and that’s what would have happened had I stayed by that pool. He would feel the need to seduce me, to get his pup. I honestly don’t know how much resistance I can manage when he looks like that. I will talk to Leroy when he is fully dressed. It’s not even five minutes since I walked in and my door swings open. Shit! He must have seen me. Only with his speedo on, his muscles bulging in all the right places and everything else completely exposed. The towel he is casually holding is not doing much to assist me in blocking him. Perfect athletic sculptured body. I can’t help but think of a Greek god but he would have nothing on this man. How can a person look this sexy? I instinctively bite my lip before our eyes meet. Damn it! Snap out of it, Cali! “Like what you see?” he smirks and wraps his arms around my waist while my cheeks start burning. He caught me ogling! “Leroy,” I warn and turn away my head to avoid his lips when his head drops down to kiss me. “I felt you by that pool side way before you ran off. I felt your heart pounding and your core yearning for me. You can’t deny this, Cali.” I frantically shake my head and try to untangle myself from this arms. “I don’t have to deny anything. You have a mate and I want to move to the Beta’s floor.” He chuckles and pulls me even closer. “All the rooms are taken on the third floor. Everyone got here early and chose their rooms. You should have come with me.” “We both know that is not true.” He raises his eyebrows with a mischievous smile on his face. “We, as in you and I?” “Leroy.” He is intentionally misinterpreting my words. “You are Marcus’s sister and he is my best friend. I have to look after you here.” “Seriously?” “Yes.” “Is seducing me and trying to get me knocked up a part of you looking out for your best friend’s sister?” He does not respond but buries his head on my neck, kissing it hard. My heart flutters, butterflies spreading in my tummy and my underwear instantly getting wet. I gasp, right before he lifts his head and covers my lips with his. My mind becomes completely blank, knees wobbly as his tongue parts my lips, his hands roaming over my body, pulling me closer.
