It took Kennedy several seconds to realize that she was awake at six in the morning because her phone was ringing.
She picked it up. “Dad?”
“Hi, Princess. You awake? Good. There’s news about Ian.”
She sat up in bed. “There is? What?”
“Good news, we hope. They’re sending Hamilton to Pyongyang.” He waited as if he expected Kennedy to start squealing and jumping up and down.
“Who?”
“You’ve got to pay more attention to the news. I’m talking about Barbara Hamilton. The Secretary of State. Apparently, the trip’s been planned for quite some time now, but the media’s just confirmed that Ian’s case is going to be one of the major points of discussion.”
