CHAPTER THIRTEEN It was after nine by the time Stella and Roth arrived at the luxury apartments where the previous owners of the Logans’ home now lived. The imposing building was close enough to the ocean for her to hear, as well as smell, the sea. Roth signed in with the doorman, who directed them across the plushly carpeted lobby to one of the three elevators. “We’re interviewing Mr. and Mrs. Gallagher, who employed Maylin, the previous cleaner. I have no idea what to expect. My office just said they were prepared to speak to us urgently,” Roth said, as the elevator made a hushed, speedy ascent to the tenth floor, where the doors opened smoothly.
