Stella thought that Roth looked stressed as he climbed into the back of the car. His next words confirmed it.
“We’re under the g*n here. We’re being pressured by the Fairfield town council. They don’t want the national media getting hold of this case. With this type of murder, and the level of violence involved, it will be hugely detrimental to property values and tourism in the area. They need it solved as soon as possible. They’ve pleaded for us to stay on it, keep assisting the police, and get it wrapped up fast.”
“Hopefully the next interviews will give us something. Plus, there’s still the drugs angle to consider, possibly with the previous cleaner’s involvement,” Maxwell observed. “From my experience in other cases, I think that could play a role.”
