CHAPTER FOURTEEN Roth pulled up outside the hotel at exactly eight a.m. and Stella climbed into the back, stashing her carrier bag under the seat. She thought Roth looked disheveled, as if he were a few hours short on sleep. In contrast, Maxwell, in the passenger seat, looked fresh, bright-eyed, and well rested.
