Thirty-two

ACHILLE I sat in the back of the meeting, inconspicuously watching Jesse address the volunteers. There were seven we kept, hoping they would provide us the key. I was glad to have Jesse, not only was he an excellent medical scientist, he was also a good friend (for a human) and had something I could only dream of - the gift of the gab! I watched him as he easily explained why only those few were left, and what the next stage would be, without raising the slightest bit of suspicion. Once he was done, he dismissed them, giving them the rest of the day to relax. From tomorrow all of them would have bloods and routine observations in the morning, and a stress test in the afternoon. We did not want to miss a thing. "Right, now thats all sorted, shall we take the afternoon off as well?" Jesse asked me, an excited twinkle in his eye. "You know I cannot go out during the day," I sighed! How many times did we have to go over this. "Yeah yeah, sunlight equals death," he said in a mocking voice! "I didn't mean going out! Lets grab a few drinks and play some pool, indoors". "I do not know why you like being beat so much at that game, but sure! Ill just grab Amia and I will meet you there" "Ugh, why do we have to do everything with her! I looked forward to growing up so I didn't have to spend so much time with her." He teased. "If you did not want me to fall in love with her, you should not have introduced me to her" I laughed! "Hey, I never expected you to fall for my little sister!" He punched my arm and headed off.
