Two Months Later
ETNA
Id been here for quite a while now, and I'd learnt quite a bit. There were two guys behind all this. One was a medical scientist, who I'd spoken to several times. His name was Jesse, he was actually a really lovely guy who had a lot of drive and passion, though I was yet to figure out why.
I'd caught him on several occasions talking to a man with a deep voice, but I was yet to see him or figure out who he was. They seemed close though. There was more than just a business partnership there, they were obviously friends too.
From the bits of conversation I'd heard, testing was on going, and they didn't seem much closer to an answer, but were hopeful.
They had also started what they were calling 'clinical trials'. From what I could gather, they were injecting humans with a cocktail of Vampire Blood and different chemicals and hormones to see what happened. The results varied but one thing was certain, it didn't change them into Vampires.
That was when I realised the end goal was to figure out if you could change a human into a Vampire. I didn't know why yet, but I did know the man with the deep voice kept worrying about the time frame, and Jesse kept reassuring him that if there was an answer to be found, they would find it in time.
With less people around, it was easier to sneak about. As long as I turned up to every test, no one bothered checking what I was doing in between.
Then the change hit.
I wasn't even twenty years yet, so I wasn't expecting it. Jesse was though. I was in the middle of a stress test, when I realised I'd gone a lot faster than I'd ever gone before. Speeds a human shouldn't be able to reach. Once I got off the treadmill I started to go dizzy, and suddenly Jesse was behind me, steading me.
"Sorry about this, but we need to do a lot more tests on you straight away, and well, this is just easier" he said.
And for the second time in my life, all I remember was silence.
