Susie’s P.O.V

I shook my head and looked in the direction the man had disappeared in, then back down at the bottle in my hands. Did he really just say that he would come back for me and he and I would be the new Alpha and Luna of this pack? I seriously doubt it, but I’ll play along and see what happens, I thought to myself, but just then Alpha Billy came into the kitchen and sniffed the air. His eyes went wide and I was certain that I was as good as dead, especially if he smelled the strange man's scent. This was it, this was how I was going to die.

“Susie, you made my favourite, lets just hope that Alpha Ozzy will like this as well. He will be here in ten minutes, so hurry and set everything up.” Alpha Billy said, then he left and I let out the breath I was holding in. Thank the Moon Goddess. I hurried and put everything in its place, then I brought out the food. I placed the raw and cooked oysters on each table and made sure that each person would have fifteen oysters each because I found some more that were bagged up in the freezer, so there should be enough for everyone. Just as I set the last thing down, the pack members started coming into the dining hall for dinner and I knew that I had to hurry to place the Alpha’s plates down. I rushed towards the kitchen and made their plates, then took the small bottle from my pocket and poured it over the fish and shrimp, but the whole time I was praying to the Goddess that they wouldn’t be able to taste anything but the food. I hurried back into the dining hall just as the two Alpha’s were sitting down and I quickly placed their plates in front of them, with their drinks and beer. I had also put two huge plates of cooked and raw oysters for both of them as well. I bowed my head down in submission and waited for Alpha Billy to excuse me or give me further instructions.

“Susie, you may go and if there's anything left in the kitchen you may eat it. Your reward will be in your bedroom when you get there, just make sure the kitchen is clean and then come back down in a few hours to clean up.” Alpha Billy said and I nodded, then hurried out of the dining hall. I really wasn’t sure how much of that stuff to give them, so I put it on their food and in their drinks, but I’m sure that if they went out and got anywhere near close to a dragon, the dragons would know for sure that they are there. I felt odd about the whole situation and I didn’t trust the man that gave me the bottle. I mean what happens if all this was some sort of trick? I hurried to clean the kitchen and there was plenty of food and drink left, so I hurried to eat and then cleaned the rest up before rushing home. There was one number I needed to find, but how I got it was a little odd and to this day it still baffles me.

Flashback….

It was a beautiful day, not too hot, but not too cold either, it was just right, so I went out into the woods for a walk. I had gone further than I had previously, but it was worth it because when I reached the peak of the hill I saw this huge castle in the distance. It looked so magical and I wondered what it would be like to live there. I stood there looking at it for a while and turned around and came back down the hill, but then I came across a strange woman I had never seen before. Her scent was different to other wolve’s scents and I couldn’t figure out why. I watched her closely and then she suddenly turned around and walked over to me, but the whole time she kept her hands up to show she wasn’t a threat. I had no idea who this woman was, but I didn’t feel like I needed to protect myself from her, if anything I felt like I wanted to go wherever it was she was going.

“I know you are not happy here, are you? I have watched this pack for so long that I can see the people here are broken and it's the Alpha that has broken them.” The strange woman whispered, taking my hands in hers. I felt comforted by this action for some reason, but then she let go of my hands and ran away from me. I opened my hands to see what she had secretly given me and saw a piece of paper, so I unfolded it and there was just a name and a phone number. I must have stared at the number for a good few minutes before realising that this must have been some sort of joke or trick, either way there was no way that this was the dragon kings number. It was impossible I thought to myself and put the paper in my pocket. I carried on walking around and then I headed back home to start dinner, forgetting all about the piece of paper until I got home and stripped out of my clothes.

Flashback Ends…..

I hadn’t seen that woman since that day, but for some reason I kept the phone number. I don’t know why but I felt like I shouldn’t throw it away because I will need it one day, which is just plain nuts if you ask me. Who knew that I would need it now? I thought to myself as I searched my room and found the piece of paper I had kept hidden all these years. I closed my bedroom door so that no one would overhear my conversation and took my old flip phone out. These were the only phones we were allowed to have here, but it was still better than nothing, I thought as I dialled the number on the paper. I listened to it ringing and the whole time I was still sceptical that this really was the phone number for the Dragon King, but hell, it was worth a shot.

“Hello, who is this?” The man said and his voice was so powerful, so much that I could tell he had a strong aura about him.

“Hello, Dragon King, my name is Susie and someone gave me your number years ago and I didn’t know why, but here I am using it. Someone came to me today and gave me a small bottle of liquid, he told me to put it on Alpha Billy’s and Alpha Ozzy’s food because it would make their odour so strong that only dragons would be able to smell it. He said that they couldn’t get the queen and since dragons would smell the odour stronger I put two and two together and thought it meant your queen. I’m not sure if any of this is true, but I put the stuff on the food and also in their drinks as well because I wasn’t sure how much to give them, so I hope this works.” I replied, feeling nervous and the silence on the other end of the phone wasn’t making me feel any better. I decided to break the silence and carried on talking, describing the man who had come to me and given me the bottle. I was doing anything I could to fill the silence.

Adonis’s P.O.V

I sat there silently listening to the nervous she-wolf and I knew exactly what she was talking about because I was the one who sent the man to the pack to talk to her. His name was Honda, he had come to my territory with Connor and the other rogues and now he was a pack member. I had spoken to each of the new wolves and learned about them a little, but Honda had been the one to approach me to ask for my help. He had told me that he used to belong to Liv’s old pack and that his mate was there, but she didn’t know they were mates. Honda told me that once Alpha Billy was gone he was going to take over as Alpha and would make the pack better. I wanted to tell the she-wolf all of this, but I also feared that it would scare the poor girl, so I decided to just go along with it. I stayed silent for a few minutes after she had finished talking, but then she started talking again, describing Honda to me. I hated lying to her about this, in fact it was against the rules of my kingdom, you lie and you will be sent to the cells until you tell the truth. This was a rule I was very strict about, but this was what I was doing right now. I was lying and I hated it, so I decided to tell the truth.

“Susie, I need you to listen and listen carefully, I know that this is going to be a lot for you to take in, but I need you to listen very carefully to everything I have to say without interrupting me. I am the one that sent him. The man who came to you told me that he was once a member of your pack, but he left because he didn’t agree with what Alpha Billy was doing. He is your mate and his name is Honda, but once this is all over you will both be taking over the pack as the new Alpha and Luna and will also be renaming it. If you want to come here until all of this is over then you are more than welcome to. There will be a woman waiting by a fallen tree in the clearing in the middle of the forest, she is my mother and I think she is the one who gave you my number. She will fly you here, but please don’t be scared when you see her, as she may already be in her dragon form.” I said and then listened for a reply.

Susie’s P.O.V

I sat down on the edge of my bed, listening to what he had to say and I was not only scared, I was shocked, confused and every other emotion I could think of, but I knew what had to be done. I had a mate and he was here with me, he was right in front of me and I didn’t know.

“Dragon King, thank you, but they will be expecting me to come back to the dining hall to clean everything up. What should I do?” I asked and heard him sigh on the other end of the phone.

“I know this is a lot, but leave now. Leave everything behind. We have everything here for you, I promise.” The Dragon King replied and my mind went blank. Can I do this? Can I really just leave everything behind and start fresh? What if they catch me escaping? I have to.

“I am on my way now, sir. Can you let your mother know I will be there in ten minutes.” I said, knowing I was doing the right thing.

“Good, good, I’ll let her know.” The Dragon king replied and then hung up the phone. This was real, this was really happening, I was getting out of here, I thought to myself as I sat in silence for a few seconds. None of this seemed real to me, but in a way it also seemed right.
