Susie’s P.O.V

I looked around the bedroom at everything that I would be leaving behind and there really wasn’t that much in here. My bed, a dresser and a few clothes, but apart from that there was nothing here that was really mine. I grabbed the money that Alpha Billy had promised me and I instantly cringed at it. This money wasn’t p*****t for the meal I had cooked, it was p*****t for after the meal was finished and they would come to me, but it wouldn’t matter if I refused or not. I stuffed the envelope of money into my pocket and then went over to the window, opening it up and climbing out of it. I jumped down from there and then rushed towards the woods. I was searching everywhere and there were many fallen trees, but there was no one there waiting for me, so I kept running. I must have run for about thirty minutes when I saw something long and covered in scales sticking out behind a tree. I ran over to it and there was the most beautiful dragon I had ever seen, well the only dragon I had ever seen to be more precise. She was an emerald green, with light blue scales and her wings were huge with pink on the edge of them. Her talons were long and sharp and I bet they would shred someone in half in the blink of an eye. She must have sensed me or smelled me or something because the dragon began to turn, but she did it so slowly, probably so that she wouldn’t scare me, but how could I ever be scared of such a magnificent creature? The dragon lowered her head and I looked at her slightly confused, but soon figured out that she wanted me to climb on her. I climbed up and once I was sat down and stead I grabbed hold of one of the horns on her head and clung to it. The dragon took flight and after the initial shock of flying through the sky on a dragon's head wore off, I opened my eyes. I was in awe of how clean and soft the clouds looked, they were like big fluffy pillows, but when I tried to touch one it just fell apart. We flew for what felt like a few hours, but I bet it was only a few minutes and then we landed in the middle of a huge courtyard. The dragon lowered her head so that I would be able to climb down, but I was frozen still as I saw how many people were around us. Everyone was staring at us, watching my every move, which as of right now I was too scared to make one. The man who came to the pack house and gave me the bottle, Honda, came running over to me and stopped just next to the dragon's head. He held his hand out for me and I hesitated for a second before taking it. He helped me down off the dragon's head, but instead of letting me go he pulled me close. He held me in his arms and sparks danced all over my skin from where he held me, making me gasp at the sudden and pleasurable feeling.

“I’m sorry I didn’t mean to scare you, but I had to do what needed to be done.” He said, pulling away slightly so that he was looking down at me.

“I was scared when you first came to the pack house and did what you did, which is why I called the dragon king and spoke to him. He explained a few things to me, including the fact that you are my mate.” I replied and Honda smiled, but then he looked really uncertain. Was he going to reject me?

“You are…you do…you…I….” I started to say, wanting to ask him if he was going to reject me or if he wanted me, but the words wouldn’t form right in my mouth and I started stuttering.

“I what? No, oh Goddess no, you’re my mate, there is no way in hell that I would ever reject you. Please don’t ever think like that, I just thought that you might reject me or hate me for not taking you with me when I left.” Honda replied and I shook my head as I rested it on his chest.

“No, I won’t reject you, but I thought that you didn’t want me with how you looked just.” I said and felt him tense up as he held me.

“No, you’re my mate, mine and only mine, I could and would never reject you as long as I have breath left in my body. I have waited a long time for this and I am so happy that it is happening now, but we have lots to talk about, as well as getting to know each other.” Honda replied and I lifted my head and smiled up at him. I was so lost in my mates eyes that I didn’t see someone standing next to us.

“You did well, Susie, why don’t you go get your rest, I’m sure you and your mate have a lot to talk about and yes, before you ask the liquid will work once it kicks in.” The man said and from his voice I knew that he was the dragon king.

“Thank you, Dragon king.” I replied, but he held his hand up. Oh crap, have I done something wrong?

“Please, call me Adonis or King Adonis if you prefer formalities.” The dragon king said and I nodded.

“Thank you, King Adonis.” I said, smiling and bowing my head. I prefered to call him by his title, it was only right after all, he is a king and should be treated and respected as such. Honda took my hand and led me to where I could only assume was his room, or rather our room now.

Cali’s P.O.V

I was surprised when Liv asked me to be her female Beta, especially after everything I had done and how I had tried to hurt her, but it just showed how kind and forgiving she was. I had refused at first, thinking she was just doing it out of pity because of what Adam had done to me, but then she explained that it was because I had taken the bottle back and hadn’t gone through with it. I must admit I liked it a lot better than trying to sabotage her, but the weird thing was that since I had accepted the title Adonis’s Beta, Tech kept stealing glances at me whenever I looked at him. Neither of us made a move towards each other and a small reason on my part for that was because he was also Adam’s cousin. Although I had rejected Adam and he was now dead, he would always be my first mate, no matter how much I hated him for what he did to me. I decided to go out and train with the others, so I changed into black shorts, a red top and put my hair up in a tight ponytail, then put my workout shoes on. When I got outside I saw that they were right in the middle of forming a line, so I quickly ran up and joined them.

“Nice of you to join us, Cali. Right, as I have already told the others, we’re doing sixty laps today and then we will be teaching you hand to hand combat. I’m sure you need to build up strength in your legs and arms. We need all the power we can get because they’re coming and we need to protect our kind.” Polly said, looking over at me and I nodded. The line started moving and we began running the sixty laps, but the whole time I felt like I was being watched. I felt a little off and then suddenly a scent hit me and I knew who they were. I ran out of the line and went straight to Polly, Nicole and Rachel, who were looking confused as to what I was doing.

“Dragon hunters, they have been watching us. We need to let the others know not to shift and we must tell the king and queen straight away.” I whispered to them and they all quickly nodded. Their eyes glazed over and to keep up our cover I carried on talking, but kept an eye open to see if anyone was watching us.

Polly’s P.O.V

“Adonis, tell everyone not to shift and sound the alert. There are dragon hunters out here watching us. As far as anyone on the outside can tell we are only working out, training or exercising, but you need to tell mom and dad not to shift.” I said, mind-linking my brother and then I heard him growl. I knew that he was trying to keep his dragon at bay, but I also knew that it was hard to do that when his people were under threat.

“Polly, let our sisters know and the rest of the group, but carry on doing what you are doing, just don’t do any hand to hand combat today. They are watching so leave them up to me. Is that clear? There can’t just be some of them, there has to be a group, so stay calm and keep doing what you’re doing, I’ll lead them away.” Adonis said, mind-linking me back and I could feel how tense he was.

“Nicole and Rachel are here with me, they are already letting the others in our group know and Cali is still talking while we are mind-linking so as not to draw attention, but you need to let Liv know as well.” I replied and ended the link so that I could help with warning the others. This was one hell of a time for us to have dragon hunters here, but why now?
