Liv’s P.O.V
I kept dreaming all night long, but I felt safer knowing that Adonis was holding me close to him. I still didn’t trust him, but I felt safe and then I woke up in the morning feeling a little more refreshed.
“Morning, come on, get dressed. I am taking you somewhere nice.” Adonis said, being mysterious and I nodded as I got out of the bed. I got dressed in a pair of jeans and t-shirt with my sandals and then went back into the bedroom to find Adonis was dressed and ready to go. We left the castle and got in his car, but I still didn’t know where we were going and that bothered me. Adonis pulled over, parking the car and when I looked I saw that we were by a meadow and I was in awe of how beautiful it was. We got out of the car and walked towards it, but I still didn’t know why we were here. This place was so beautiful and the grass was so green, there were flowers everywhere and it was breathtaking. There were huge oak trees that had squirrels running and jumping from branch to branch, there were even pine and cypress trees here. This place was amazing. Adonis started walking and then stopped in the middle of the meadow, confusing me.
“Liv, I’m going to show you something and I don’t want you to be scared, okay?” Adonis asked and although I was confused when I looked up into his eyes I saw that there was nothing but care in them. He said that he would never hurt me and after last night I was trying hard to believe him, to possibly trust him and although it was really hard I was curious.
“What are you going to show me?” I asked and he just smiled.
“Just stand right there, okay. Whatever happens please don’t…just don’t run away. I promise that everything will be alright, nothing will happen to you, just don’t run away.” Adonis replied and I nodded.
“Hmm, alright, whatever you say, but if I’m going to get hurt I promise that I will defend myself and I will fight back.” I said and he started laughing.
“Liv, I’m not going to hurt you, just stand right there and whatever happens to me, let it happen. I promise I’m not hurting or in pain.” Adonis replied, confusing me even more. I watched as he walked away from me to the other end of the meadow and then stood there, smiling and waving at me. What the hell has he got planned? I thought and then he did something that made me quickly turn away. He stripped off all his clothes until he was completely naked and I was blushing a beet red, which I’m pretty sure he could see even at the distance he was away from me. Is this what he wanted to show me? This is crazy I thought, but then I suddenly heard the unmistakable sounds of bones crunching and breaking. I quickly turned around and looked to see what was happening, but when I did I was shocked. I had seen many wolves shifting and when they did they always fell to the ground in pain, but Adonis didn’t fall to the ground, instead with each sound of a bone breaking he grew. He grew bigger, his face bulged out and it was a really weird sight to see because his head was bigger than his body at first, but then the rest of his body began to grow as well. He grew even bigger and the more he grew the more what looked like scales formed on his body. They looked like specks of diamonds, shimmering all over him. When he was done shifting I was amazed to see that he was a very huge dragon. He was black with a hint of indigo blue and then he spread his wings out. They were beautiful and the same colour as the rest of him, but they had just a hint of a little green on the edges. His claws looked like they were diamonds shimmering under the light and you could tell that with one strike from them you would be sliced apart. His eyes were a blue indigo colour that shined just a little. I looked at him and I knew that I should be scared, but I wasn’t scared at all. I was drawn to him. I slowly walked over to him and as he looked at me he moved his wings a little, allowing me to get closer to him. I kept looking at his claws, picturing them slicing someone up and then I saw his teeth. I bet that he didn’t even have to bite into someone, that he could just swallow them whole. I stopped when I was standing in front of him and I couldn’t help reaching out and touching him. The scales that covered his body were actually soft and his head came down to me, gently nudging me and making me laugh a little. I soon figured out that he wanted me to climb onto him and that’s what I did. I grabbed onto the horn on his head that he offered and jumped up, swinging round so that my legs were either side of his neck. I slid down until I was on his back and grabbed onto some of the scales that came up like spikes, but not so hard that it would rip them out or hurt him. Adonis flapped his large beautiful wings a few times and we were soon up in the sky above the clouds. Adonis opened his mouth and blew out a red blur of fire, but the cool thing was when he blew again he blew out ice and froze the fire. That was completely awesome and it made me wonder what else he could do. We flew for a few hours and as I laid on him I felt so at peace up here, like nothing in the world could ever bother me. When we got back above the meadow he circled it and then softly landed on the ground, dipping his head down and I quickly figured out what was going on. I hopped down from him, disappointed that the flight was over and he started shifting back to his human form. When he was done he got dressed and it was then I realised he had landed exactly in the same place that we had taken off from.
“Thank you for showing me your dragon, he is beautiful and I loved flying high in the clouds. I know what you did, thank you, I feel better and it's like all the stress I had is gone for now.” I said, turning to face him when he was fully dressed.
“Well, you’re welcome. Are you hungry? I know I dragged you out of the castle before you ate, but I wanted to do this before I changed my mind.” Adonis replied, just as my stomach rumbled.
“Yeah, I could eat. I’m glad you didn’t change your mind, I enjoyed it.” I said as he took my hand and we began walking back to the car. When we got back to the castle Adonis made us sandwiches and we sat in the family room eating them and talking for a while.
“So what else can you do? Can you do anything else besides shifting into your beautiful dragon?” I asked and he nodded.
“Yeah, I can do a few things. I can astral project from myself for up to fifty hours, but after those fifty hours I have to get back. It takes a lot of energy to do it. I can become invisible to anyone and if I don’t want them to see me, trust me they won’t. I can also hide my scent from anyone, a lot of people have to use a spray, but I don’t have to, which is pretty cool to use when you don’t want someone to know you are around.” Adonis replied and I sat there listening and eating my food. I thought that what he was saying was a bunch of bull, so I decided to call him out on it.
“So just say you didn’t want me to see you, you would just become invisible?” I asked and he nodded, smirking at me and then he began to slowly fade away until he was completely gone. I looked around the room, stunned by what had just happened and then I felt a poke on my arm and I smiled.
“Okay, I believe you, now come back.” I said and he appeared right in front of me, laughing.
“I knew you thought I was lying, so I had to prove it to you. I don’t lie, Liv, I promise.” Adonis said and I nodded as I sat back on the couch. I had to admit that Adonis hadn’t lied to me once since I had met him, which made me feel bad for doubting him, so I decided to take a big step and tell him my story, but I didn’t want to do it out here in the open where everyone could hear me and use it against me. I still didn’t trust many here.
“Listen, let's go upstairs to the bedroom, there's a few things I want to discuss with you. I know I have only been here three days, but I think I can trust you enough to tell you my story and what happened to me.” I said and Adonis quickly nodded.
“Come on, let's go. I know of a place where no one will hear anything at all.” Adonis said as we got up and walked over to the elevator. We got in and went right up to the top floor, then went into Adonis’s bedroom, but instead of stopping there he carried on walking over to the wall and pulled a candle stick down. Suddenly the wall moved and a door appeared. Adonis held my hand as we went inside and then the door shut by itself. We were in a room that was lit with candles and there was a bed, a couch and in the corner was a computer, which was strange.
“This is my second office for when I tell people I’m going out of town, instead I come here. It's when I have to do business and when I have to have important work video chats. No one knows about this room, except for you.” Adonis said, leading us over to sit on the couch. At first we both just sat there, neither one of us saying a thing, but I wanted to tell him, so I took a deep breath and then sighed. This was it.
“When I was fifteen years old my old Alpha and Luna told me that I wasn’t like them and that they had actually found an egg by the edge of their territory one day and brought it home. They knew there was something inside, but they didn’t know what it was until one day it hatched and I was born. I kept asking them year after year to tell me what I was, but they just told me that it didn’t matter that I was home and that I was safe. When I turned eighteen not more than a week went by and we got attacked by rogues. They killed my Alpha and Luna, but then Alpha Ozzy took control. He had it out for me from the very start for some reason, but I had no idea why and then he attacked me in the hallway one day. He had his way with me and when he was finished he told me to shower, then carry on with my work which was cleaning and cooking. He tried it again when I was in the kitchen and I stabbed his hand with a knife, but then he hit me. We often fought hand to hand, but it was the only way for me to keep him off me and then Alpha Billy came for a visit. He told me I was his mate and without a wolf or whatever I was, I didn’t know any different. Alpha Ozzy sold me to him and that’s….that's when….” I said, but had to stop when suddenly the dam of tears inside me broke and I could no longer hold them back.
