Chapter 22

Liv’s P.O.V

I was outside training with Polly, Nicole, Rachel and Allison, then Aquilla came over to us just as we had finished running laps. We all carried on training and this session was going even better than the others. I felt stronger, quicker and a lot more focused because I had my dragon. I saw Cali out of the corner of my eye come outside and then stand on the side lines, just watching us for a few minutes and then she walked over to us.

“Hey, can we talk, Liv?” She asked and I rolled my eyes. I was right in the middle of training when she decided to speak to me, which pissed me off, but it also made me wonder what the hell she could possibly want to talk to me about? I looked over at the girls and they all looked just as suspicious as me.

“I’ll be right back.” I said and they each nodded, but I saw as Aquilla tensed up. I turned and walked a few feet away from the others, then looked at Cali.

“Okay, you have a few minutes, I want to get back to training, so what do you want?” I asked, but she shook her head.

“I wanted to say how sorry I am for how I provoked you the other day. I know it's hard on you, but I was jealous because Adonis and I, well, we had our fun, but then he found you and I was in a way dismissed by him. I was jealous, but I’m over it now and I hope we can become friends.” Cali replied, but I didn’t buy it one bit. She was up to something, planning something, but I had no idea what it was, so for now I would play along. I decided that I would play along because I have been through this before, with Alpha Billy’s mate, Luna Ally. She would always play nice with me and then out of the blue she would beat me, so yeah, I knew exactly what she was doing and I wanted to see where this was going.

“Yeah, sure, why not, but if you ever try that s**t with me again then be prepared because I will beat your ass and I will have your head in my hands on a silver platter. Adonis is my man, my mate, so don’t you ever forget it.” I said and I watched as Cali gave me the sweetest smile ever, but it ended up looking more like a grimace with how she was doing it.

“I agree I will leave him alone, he’s all yours.” Cali said, but the glint in her eye told me something else. I could see that she was trying her hardest not to roll her eyes, but she was failing miserably and I quickly noticed it, but I didn’t say anything.

“She’s thinking that it's just a matter of time and she is calling you a b***h. Do you want her arrested and dealt with?” Rachel asked, mind-linking me.

“No, I want to see what she has planned and how far she will go with it.” I replied, mind-linking her back. I had made sure to keep close enough to the group so that Rachel could still listen in on her thoughts, but not so close that Cali would get suspicious.

Adonis’s P.O.V

I was sitting in my office, trying to get things done as I had a hell of a lot of paperwork to do, when suddenly there was a knock on my door. I knew it wasn’t Liv because she had grown so used to me now that she would just walk inside, but then I smelled the air and sighed.

“Come in, Cali and make it fast. I have paperwork to do, eggs have hatched and I need to add it to our records.” I said and she walked inside my office, but she didn’t close the door behind her, which was weird, but it also seemed like it was part of a plan or something.

“Adonis, do you need any help? After all, you know that I know most of it and don’t worry, before you ask I’m not after you anymore. I’ve already spoken to Liv and cleared the air between us, so hopefully she and I can be friends.” Cali said, walking over and sitting down in a chair. She crossed her legs and then made sure her legs were covered by her dress, which only made me roll my eyes. I knew that she wasn’t going to give up just like that, that would be way to easy for her and I wasn’t stupid either, so I decided to play along.

“Alright Cali, you could be a big help and go get Liv for me, I need her here to discuss some business and while doing that could you also go get Beta Tech for me, he needs to be a part of this as well.” I replied and watched as her eyes started twitching with how hard she was trying not to roll them.

“Alright, fine, I’ll have them come to you.” Cali said and I nodded. I waited a few seconds after she left my office and then began chuckling. She’s got another thing coming if she thinks she’s going to try stealing Liv’s crown. A few minutes later Beta Tech and Liv walked into my office, followed by Cali, who was trying her hardest to look all innocent as she stood behind them.

“Take a seat everyone, but Liv, can you please come over here?” I asked and she nodded. Liv walked over to me and I pulled her onto my lap as Beta Tech took his seat in front of my desk.

“Cali, you may stay, but do not say a single word, keep your mouth shut.” I said and she quickly nodded.

Cali’s P.O.V

You had better be lucky that I want you as my mate and king or I would have killed you already, asshole, I thought to myself as I took my seat. I was trying so hard not to gag and roll my eyes when Liv sat on his lap, when the only thing I wanted to do was grab her by the hair and rip her away from him. I sat next to Beta Tech, Adam’s cousin and listened patiently for Adonis to begin, but the whole time my eyes were glued to the hand he had now placed on Liv’s thigh.

“Alright guys, tomorrow we are having a meeting with a complete asshole of a dragon called James. He wants more territory since his pack has grown, but he always wants more than he actually needs. His Luna is also a little on the dumb side and prefers her looks over using her brains. They have both been here before and she has tried many times to get me to bed her, so Liv, I leave her in your beautiful and capable hands.” Adonis said, kissing the palm of Liv’s hand and I had to cough to cover the gagging noise I made.

“Now, as for James, he has tried over and over again to overthrow me, but he has failed each time. I know that him coming here is just an excuse because I know that he doesn’t need more land, since half of his people have left his territory because they were sick and tired of him. He states that he is the almighty Alpha of dragons, but he has gotten his ass beaten a few times, so tomorrow they will be here and I want everyone on guard around them. Liv, I need you tomorrow to just stand beside me and let them know that you are my queen. I need you to make decisions around the castle and in meetings, make it known that you won’t put up with being disrespected and stand strong with your head held high, like we talked about before. You are stronger now and the training you have been doing with my sisters is incredible, I am so proud to have you as my mate, my Luna and my queen.” Adonis said, cooing all over his precious b***h of a mate. I swear all I wanted was to slit her throat open with the letter opener on the desk and then take Adonis and make him mine.

“Tech, tomorrow is going to be a little rough and we don’t know if he will be bringing guards here or not, but just in case he does have some of our own in the skies tomorrow. James is a sneaky prick and he will do anything to overthrow me. It will never happen, not while I’m still alive, but I want to be sure. I’m not dying anytime soon, so just a heads up about what we should expect from them tomorrow. Liv, don’t be worried, you can take that b***h and any other b***h that comes along. I’m not even sure if they are true mates, seeing as they have cheated on each other many, many times. Right, that’s it for today, Cali, Tech, you may both leave, I want to spend some time alone with my queen.” Adonis said and we both nodded, but the whole time I wanted to throw up. Beta Tech and I left the office, closing the door behind me and the whole time I was wishing that it was me he wanted to spend time with, but it will be when tomorrow starts. I’ll make that b***h look like the fool she really is.
