Ten minutes later, Nikki finally arrived at the main City Centre. Even though, its annoying to admit it, but she was still thankful that jerk Kane, or whoever his name was found her and pointed her to the right direction. Who knows where she had gone to and when she will be able to find the right way.
Her stomach started to rumble again when she crossed another street. Luckily there's a little diner in the corner of a three- story brick building. Alina's Diner.
A hippy middle aged woman greeted her at the door when she came in. "Just you?" her voice was so loud, Nikki couldn't help but to take a single step back.
Nikki gulped. "Y.. Yeah."
"Your drink?"
"Umm.. Coffee with cream?" She reluctantly said while she followed her inside.
"Hello, Nikki Young." to someone who'd spent half of her life out running her past, they were words from a nightmare.
Nikki froze. There's only a single thought running through her mind.
They had found her..
But the man walking towards her was someone she's not familiar with.
The stranger was dressed in a full suit, had light brown hair, and couldn’t be much past his twenties.
“Do I know you?” Nikki hands gripped the sides of the table, studying the guy. And ready to move once she saw a sign that he's dangerous to her.
But when Nikki get a good look at him, she couldn't help but think that he didn’t look like the guys who worked alongside her father.... Or maybe he's one of his accountants or something.
The man raised an eyebrow, clearly amused by Nikki's rude staring. But really, who the hell is he? He's not ordinary that's for sure. His suit was tailored. His eyebrows tweezed. His fingers manicured. The shoes polished. The smile painted on.
Okay. He's definitely not with his father's men. Those guys working with his father would never went to a salon to have their nails manicured. Or their eyebrows tweezed. So who the hell is this guy? And how the hell did he knew her?
"I know you're probably going to suspect me. But honestly Nikki, you don't have a choice but to trust me. Because right now, I'm the only one who can help you."
Nikki's gripped on the table grew tighter, and her knuckles turned white. Eyes narrowing, she growled. "Who the f**k, are you?"
"I'm Lucien. You're Aunt and I were old friends."
"You knew my Aunt?" I'm asking, but in my head I'm already calculating a lot of different ways I could do to get away from this bastard. He might be saying that he's a friend of my aunt or even her relative but no one can really say that he's actually saying the truth.
The man dip his head at Nikki and said, "Lucien Falcon. She retained my counsel from time to time."
"So you're like an attorney or something?"
"Indeed. She even talked to me the day before she died."
Nikki froze. Guilt clouding her mind. And Lucien, blessed him, acted as he hadn't notice. He just continued, his voice turning gentle and soft.
"It's okay Nikki, I understand. I'm even here to help. I promised your Aunt, and I will honor that oath."
Nikki was still frozen stiff, she couldn’t even remember when they both sat. Or when the middle age woman brought their food. Heck, she didn't even remember when they order. Her mind was full of thoughts as it tried to wrapped around Lucien's big confession. It doesn't help that her mind were filled with her Aunt's dying figure as she left there alone, bloodied and gasping for her last breath so she could save herself
“It will take a day or two to get everything situated. You know better than to go around town showing off, yes?”
That sudden statement was like a cold water prompting her to wake up from her endless nightmare. She looked up at him, her eyes growing wide from confusion. What the hell is he talking now?
“Wait. What?”
“There’s a room waiting for you at Belmont. Just down the street from here. My secretaries stocked it for your arrival. I imagine you traveled light.”
“Wait … ” Nikki trailed off, growing more confused as Lucien keeps on talking. "I have already made some arrangements. Afterall, we can’t have you missing out on your schooling. The local high school will have to do. My office will take care of your enrollment.”
School? A normal school? Really? The truth she never been in one. Ever since she could remember, her and her mother were always on the run. Her mother never said her reasons, but she just keeps on saying that it's the only way to keep her safe. So when Lucien suddenly said that she had to go to school she suddenly felt excited. But wait, why the hell did she felt like she was scammed or something. “Uhm … okay.”
“Excellent. For now, play the part of the ordinary teenager. Keep your ears open, and get to know the town. I’ll take care of what I can. When I have some answers for you, I’ll make sure to let you know.” He paused. “It’s remarkable, really.”
Nothing about the situation was remarkable. Nikki was still trying to pull her self together, but Lucien kept throwing more and more at her. And surely, Nikki couldn’t keep up.
“What is?” her mouth was suddenly dry, but it didn’t even occur to her to drink the cooling coffee in front of her.
Lucien just smiled mysteriously, and didn't explained more. It took a few moment after before he add. “For now, enjoy the town. This could be your life, Nikki. You may never know, in life, you see. Like having normal school life, getting some friends, falling in love and such? Do I have it about right?”
Nikki was supposed to trust him, but the guy still made her very uncomfortable. “What’s your angle?” Nikki asked carefully.
This isn’t normal, this guy was far from normal even Nikki can see that, and a part of her wanted to say that, but the rest of her was already considering the possibilities. High school. Hanging out with friends.
But the regret still pulled her afloat.
Yes. She still need to have her revenge. But she's just a powerless teenager. What she can even do? So maybe this time, while she ponder of what to do, it's doesn't hurt to took a breather for now, right. Amd maybe experience what normal teenager do.
The lawyer flashed another smile, and for the first time, Nikki saw shadows in the depths of his eyes.
“Angles are for people playing games.” He stood up from the table, pulled out his wallet, and dropped a bill down. “Lawyers deal in agendas.”
Uh. Huh.
Once he was gone, Nikki immediately devoured her breakfast. Lucien’s money had covered not only the two cups of coffee, but her meal and a generous tip on top of that. The whole conversation with Lucien had happened so fast, and she’d thrown so much at her…
She's sure she'd been manipulated, she just wasn’t sure how.
But really, Nikki didn't have a luxury to choose. Taking her revenge. Fighting for her survival. She's aware she couldn't do all that alone, so she should take Lucien's offer and threw caution to the wind.
But still, there's something in Lucien that makes her wary. She still can't trust him fully.
But for now, she just had to go with the flow. Hopefully she will not regret it, as much as she regretted everything in her life...

Nikki, what a very interesting girl..
Kane cannot concentrate. Aside from his thoughts filled with a girl he just met, it shouldn't have been a problem for him to finished all his works. But with 'his' constant pestering he's having a hard time doing it now. And honestly, he's starting to get annoyed.
"Kane, what happened to Calvin?" Andre Selova, asked. He's half Italian and half Russian exchange student. Clearly a human but with his bulky figure, Bridget Academy did a lot just to persuade him to join their Basketball Team. And a year after, Kane took him as one of his crew. Even though he is human and doesn't have any idea that he's with werewolves company.
"Did someone died?" Jude Fellis joked when he saw 'him'. Like Andre he's also part of the Bridget Academy's basketball team and actually one of the best point guard the school had ever had, but besides that he is also one of Kane's beta.
"Yeah right. It's just Calvin being Calvin." a soft voice exclaimed. Surprisingly, it's the only girl in the group. Sitting in a chair full of elegance and grace is the seventeen year old Selena Adam. She has long wavy blond hair, hour glass figure and doll like features, the true embodiment of what a princess should look like. Known at the whole school as Kane's childhood sweetheart and expected the whole student body to become as his fiancee when they come of age, which Kane didn't have any idea, whatsoever. Because for him Selena is just a friend. A female beta he knew since he was young.
But it's very different from what Selena felt towards him. She wanted him. Only him. And she’d never give him up as long as she's alive.
And then all of a sudden 'he' suddenly sprang to his feet. His soft muttering become more frantic. His eyes turning bloodshot. And with so much strength to what he supossed to possess he run towards Kane and slam his hand down his table. The booming sound that followed after almost turn them all deaf.
"Calvin!!!" Kane's booming voice seems to woke up Calvin from his frenzied actions.
Blinking, Calvin tilt his head and looked at Kane, confused. "Kane. What's wrong? Did someone kill your dog? You looked angry."
"You!!"
"Oh my Gosh!" Jude almost fall from the setee when he heard the brothers exchange of words. "That's so priceless! Oh God!! Hahaha!!!"
Even Selena who's looking so poise while sipping her tea is snickering softly.
Calvin let his eyes wonder around. He's still confused. He clearly remembered being with that cutie at the bus when-
"Holy s**t! You won't believe what I've seen last night. I can't actually believe it either. And the things what I wanted to do to her...."
"Calvin."
"You see when I came back last night, in a moment of curiosity I took the bus then I meet this cutie. She's so pretty like a doll-"
"Calvin."
"We were talking so well. The atmosphere felt so romantic. And then I tried to kiss-"
"Calvin!!!!" Kane's voice sounds so thunderous, Calvin can't help but abruptly clamp his mouth shut so fast he bit his tongue.
When he saw how stony his brother's face had become, Calvin just knew that he will not be able to get away from here in one piece.
Kane can feel his patience running thin. He can't believe that this lunatic is his brother. Kane knew how obnoxious he was when they were still kids but he hoped that he will outgrew that phase as he grew older but it seems that won't happen in this lifetime.
Pressing the bridge of his nose, he took a deep breath. No use thinking of things that won't change. It's only 8 in the morning but he's already this stressed out. With a wave of his hand, he addressed Calvin and
everyone.
"Just please don't speak again of this nonsense ever again. I summon you all here just for one thing. And that's to talk about the Nationals. The competition this year will not be as easy as last year. So we have to double our efforts. You all knew that winning is our only goal. And that's what we will achieve."
