Chapter 45-Shadow

"Amira Dear, I have to go meet with Cinead to go over tonight's dinner. Breakfast is waiting for you when you wake up." Kamaris's deep voice tickled my ear as I groaned and rolled over, feeling him hovering above me as a deep laugh rumbled from his chest.

"Get some more rest, you will need it for when I get back." He added playfully while bending down and placing a kiss against my lips and then my bind next making me sigh as I felt like my eyes were glued shut. No matter how hard I tried, I could not open them..I was exhausted.

"Alden will be right outside if you need anything."

I felt Kamaris's fingers rake through my hair as he kissed me once more on the head before leaving. I felt his shadows stroking my skin as they circled around me, leaving Kamaris's ocean scent as I snuggled deeper into the bed before drifting back to sleep.

I don't know how much time had passed when I was resting my head under the pillow and lying on my stomach, just starting to finally wake up.

That's when I felt a hand against my back like someone was touching me...but I knew immediately it wasn't Kamaris.

My eyes slowly fluttered open as I groggily lifted my head and began looking through the room as I realized it was now late afternoon.

I blinked, sitting up when I thought I saw someone standing in the corner of the room.

The window was open wide and a cool breeze blew by. I looked towards that shadow, wondering if I was seeing things when the door flew open and the lights flicked on, causing my eyes to shut tightly, the bright light blinding me.

I opened them again, trying to see who the shadow was and it was now gone. Alden walked into the room, looking at me curiously.

"What is it?" He asked, glancing towards the window.

I blinked my eyes while whispering softly.

"I thought I saw someone." I kept my voice quiet, afraid they might still be out there.

Alden rushed towards the window, looking outside quickly.

"Did you open this?" He asked me urgently.

I shook my head no, wondering who could have done it and that's when Kamaris appeared out of thin air.

"What's going on?" He rushed out, his voice firm and demanding as he rushed over to me lying in the bed.

"I..I thought I saw something..I felt someone touch my back and then I saw a shadow." I stammered, still trying to wake up..at least I was dressed now..Kamaris put some type of nightgown on me. God knows Alden didn't need to see that.

"Are you okay? Let me see you." He rushed out, worry filling his eyes as he turned my head and body, examining every inch of me.

"Yes..I'm okay." I reassured him and the next thing I knew, Kamaris smashed his lips to mine, kissing me desperately before pulling back and looking towards Alden.

"I want you to check the perimeters..make sure he isn't still lurking around." Kamaris gritted through his teeth, making me furrow my brow in confusion.

"W..Who was it?" I asked quietly when Kamaris turned back towards me and lowered my nightgown, checking my bind for some reason.

"Gideon, I can sense the black magic he used to break my seal. It's the same Dalia used that night in Dolus." Kamaris explained, making me even more confused.

"Gideon..but why?"

Kamaris sat on the bed, making my eyes drift up and down the leather armor he wore as I instinctively lifted my hand, brushing back his long black hair.

Kamaris reached up, clasping my fingers in his grasp before raising my arm and brushing the back of my hand against his lips.

"Gideon isn't someone to be trusted. He wants you Amira..he has wanted you since the moment you came to Dolus." Kamaris admitted and I swear my mouth dropped. Was I seriously that clueless?

"Me? I thought he was just being nice.." I grumbled, watching as Kamaris reached out and swiftly lifted me into his lap like I weighed nothing nothing at all.

"That's why we need to be careful tonight..I don't know what he is trying to pull, but after this..we need to be on guard even more." He explained before placing his hand on my chin and tilting my head back. "So there is a change of plans..no more pretending..I want to send a clear message."

I looked up at him, my eyes searching his, realizing that those black shadows were now back.

"What message?" I asked curiously as he smirked.

"That you are mine..and no one will get between that.."

Kamaris kissed me passionately, causing all of the air to rush out of me as I felt him grab my waist possessively.

That's when those cool shadows floated out of him, their silky whisps stroking my flesh as I moaned softly..then they slid down.

"So..your shadows are like their own person?" I asked watching as he crawled up the bed before lying down and pulling me into his arms.

"Sort of, they have accompanied every dark lord and are able to express free will to some extent but can't survive without an Athuney..but not just any, the one meant to rule the dark region." Kamaris explained and I just nodded my head.

Alysian is such a strange place..it's crazy to think that magic and all of these things really exist..and now I am a part of it too.

"So these shadows, they chose you?" I asked and Kamaris nodded once again while running his hands up and down my body slowly, feeling the curves of my breasts and stomach.

"Yes..and they chose you too..it wasn't just me who felt this pull to you..they have felt it from the start too..that you are different. They have never done this before..with the previous dark lord's. It's quite strange actually.." He confessed, surprising me with how open he was about this.
