*Everly's POV*
-
After getting to know everyone, everyone began collecting their bags and putting out the fire.
The sun had fully rose and we were set to leave. I couldn't help but look around to spot Eddie.
He stood by a tree and spoke with Noah and he looked over at me, flashing me a smile, as I shyly gave one in return.
Noah suddenly nodded his head at Eddie and then cleared his throat, catching everyone's attention.
"We are hereby, beginning our hunt. We'll start at the earliest set up camp," Noah explained and I watched as Eddie pulled out a paper.
I couldn't help but stare at him. He was truly handsome. However I felt awkward staring at him. Though I made myself several excuses to not look away.
Therapy for my eyes.
"The first group of hunters are camping at Swan lake. That's near a pack that's at the threat of being attacked by them. We leave now," Eddie announced and everyone mumbled and nodded in agreement.
Conner let out a grunt and shoved his backpack towards Evan to hold.
"Oh yeah? And who the hell made you the leader?" Conner grumbled and Eddie turned to face him.
Before Eddie could even speak Dan shot Conner a glare.
"I did," he said and Conner snorted.
"That's not a fair vote is it?" Conner sneered and Lucy rolled her eyes as she left my side.
She walked on the wet grass and avoided the dirt as she stood in the middle of everyone.
"You want a fair vote?" Lucy said to Conner, "-fine. All those in favour of Conner leading the way raise your hands."
We all looked around at each other and everyone's hands remained to their sides.
However the twins, Owen and Evan, raised their hands.
Conner noticed the lack of votes towards him, and with a roll of his eyes, he raised his own hand for himself.
I couldn't help but snicker.
"Alright," I called out, deciding to climb out of my shell.
"All those who want Eddie to lead?" I asked with a smile and Charlies hand flew up as he shook it in the air in excitement.
I also raised my hand and Lucy copied my movements, along with everybody else besides the twins and Conner.
Chace gave Conner an amused look and Noah nudged Eddie.
"No need to take sides now," Eddie said calmly, trying to keep the peace, "-Conner I'm just stating my ideas. Feel free to do the same."
Conner ignored Eddie and simply began walking as his brown combat boots stomped on the overgrown grass.
"Well?" He said in annoyance, glancing back at us, "-are we leaving or standing here like a bunch of idiots?"
Dan rolled his eyes and chuckled along side Chace.
No one bothered to argue and simply began walking. Everyone slowly began walking with a fellow friend and went into light chatter.
Lucy had an interest in Noah and linked her arm with his. He began talking about scientific notation, fixing his glasses, as Lucy simply nodded with a warm smile, not knowing what he was saying.
She glanced behind and gave me a thumbs up and a wink. I couldn't help but quietly laugh to myself.
I was deciding whether to walk near Eddie or not. However I didn't want to make it obvious that we were mates.
I didn't want the boys hesitating to be my friend and I wanted to freely communicate with the people I was going to hunt with, without Eddie thinking something of it. However Eddie didn't seem like the kind of guy to worry about that.
Just thinking about him made me smile. However I remained walking at the back. He was leading the way with Dan, who held the map.
"-and then the cop made me stop," a voice said in haste and I glanced to my left to see Charlie walking with a silent Chris.
"-and then he was like, look here bloke," Charlie explained in a deep voice to Chris, "-I suggest you put that stolen item back before I put you in a cell," Charlie said in the same voice as he raised a hand mocking the so called cop.
I watched silently as Chris glanced over at Charlie and raised an eyebrow.
Charlie saw the look on Chris' face and let out a sigh, his shoulders sagging.
"It was a transformer car I tried to steal," Charlie mumbled back in his normal voice, "-I was ten."
Even though I was eavesdropping, I couldn't help but laugh loudly. I caught the small grin on Chris' face before it vanished.
Charlie looked over at me and gave me a bright smile.
"You're Everly right?" he asked as he moved closer, to walk with me, Chris beside him as the three of us fell into synchronized walking.
"And you're Charlie," I smiled at the bubbly guy.
I glanced in time to see Eddie briefly look behind him, sending me a small smile before turning back.
"Yep," Charlie said popping the p.
He nudged Chris beside him who didn't move an inch.
"This is Chris," he said and I nodded my head, "-he doesn't talk much," Charlie whispered to me and Chris heard him due to his werewolf hearing, sending him a short glare.
"I've noticed," I smiled.
Before we could continue further conversation, Eddie and Dan halted. Every single one of us walking behind them, copied their movements and paused in our spots.
I glanced around in confusion and Eddie turned around to face us all.
"Looks like we found a few hunters who decided to take a walk," Eddie told us distastefully.
After he said that, the four pairs of footsteps were easier to hear.
The boys readied themselves to shift, and Chace looked at them in alarm.
"What are you doing!" he hissed, "-Just act normal."
"Why?" Conner argued, "-we're here to hunt them aren't we? To kill them, scare them, warn them, anything!" he said annoyed.
Chace rolled his eyes and then clenched his jaw.
"How stupid can you be boy?" he sneered, "-we have no plan or grouping organized. We don't know what weapons they have! If we can't dodge then we attack," Chace explained.
"I prefer Conner's idea," Owen, one of the twins said.
"Yeah? Well to bad no one asked you," Dan said, backing Chace up. Even though Chace and Dan were the older ones of the group, Eddie was the one to stop them.
"Guys," he said quietly, "-just act cool. We do as Chace said," he said, glancing at Conner.
Conner opened his mouth to speak but before he could, four men, strapped in brown leather with weapons lining their coats, appeared from behind the numerous trees.
I switched my gaze to Lucy who still stood beside Noah. She must of felt my gaze, because she looked over at me and widened her eyes before looking back at the men.
A man with an eye patch and a scar on his cheek, rubbed his beard as he slowed down his steps. He stopped walking and the three men with him copied his movements.
"What's this," his deep voice mumbled.
Our group, the Werewolf Commission, was already frozen in our steps. I couldn't help but notice all of our bodies tense. Suspicious.
I looked towards the ground, my hair covering my face.
"Act casual. We look like deer caught in headlights," I whispered from the back of our group, the men not having any chance of hearing me.
I knew everyone else would hear me perfectly, due to their werewolf hearing.
I casually moved my hair from my face and glanced back up. I saw Evan, the other twin, swiftly glance at me, the others not making it as obvious.
However they did as I said. Everyone loosened up and Lucy quietly giggled at Noah.
The man, obviously a hunter, rested his hand on his knife and took a step forward, eyeing Eddie, Dan and Chace who stood at the front, before tilting his head to glance at all of us.
"What are you young fellas doing out, in the middle of the woods?" the hunter asked gruffly and suspiciously.
Before someone could speak up and save us all the trouble of an attack, Conner smirked and bet everyone to it, making Dan clench his jaw and Eddie put on a tight smile.
"Well," Conner smirked, "You see..."
