CHAPTER 5

1079 Words
Gael? What is he doing here? I thought he was in New York. He is glaring at me, his hands gripping Larry’s collar. Larry is gripping his collar too and glaring at him. “Do you know who you are messing with?” Larry bellows at him. “Yeah. Larry Brown. The governor’s son. I know you well.” Gael roars back at him. “Then you will keep your filthy hands off me. If I fight you I will kill you.” Larry shouts at him. “I know what you are capable of. What I don’t know is what the hell you are doing in my girlfriend’s house.” Gael shouts back. This is a shouting competition and I have to do something before it gets nasty. Or, before one of my neighbours decides to call the police because of disturbance. “Stop it you two.” I shout trying to squeeze myself between them. I want to separate them. I manage and push both of them away. “What do you think you are doing behaving like kids?” I reprimand them. “What the f**k is he doing here?” Gael shouts at me. “Don’t shout at her. It’s no way to talk to your girlfriend.” Larry shouts trying to advance towards him but I push him away and glare at him. “So you have now become her lawyer? She is my girlfriend and I can talk to her any way I please.” Gael shouts pissing me off. Talk to me the way he pleases? What has gotten into him? “Stop it Gael.” I snap glaring at him. “I come to your house and find a man asleep on your couch and you tell me to stop it? I can’t believe you.” He glares back at me. “We were doing nothing. Did you get me shagging with him?” he is really pissing me off. “What business does he have in your house Myra?” “I’m not telling you anything.” I snap at him. I can’t tell him that Larry is my patient. I can’t do that. It’s against our work ethics. “Because you are cheating on me with him.” He shouts. “That’s a lie.” I say and take a sharp breathe. “I came here because of work. I needed to talk to her.” Larry says calmly this time round. “She has an office for that bro.” Gael snaps. “what are you doing?” I ask focusing my attention on him. “Wondering what a man would be doing in your house this late.” “She didn’t know I slept here.” Larry defends me. Am I missing something? Since when did he start defending me? I thought he would be enjoying my fight with Gael. I can’t believe this Myra.” Gael says moving around. “Believe what? It’s not like I was doing anything wrong. As he said, it’s about work.” “Work indeed.” He says sarcastically looking me up and down. “Yeah.” “Are you sleeping with him?” “You are getting out of control Gael.” He has gotten into me. “You don’t pay my bills so you don’t get to control me. This is my house. I don’t remember you ever paying for it.” I shout at him. “You are such a bitch.” He raises his hand to hit me and I cover my face dreading the impact it’s going to have on me but don’t feel any. “Don’t you dare slap her you asshole!” Larry is gripping his hand tightly. He glares at him twisting his hand. Gael yelps in pain and tries to pull his hand out of Larry’s grip but Larry is too strong for him and he doesn’t succeed. “Let me go you…” “Say the name and I will break your hand!” Larry snaps interrupting him. “Let him go Larry.” “If he promises not to touch you because if he does I will kill him.” He threatens. What’s with this new Larry. I didn’t expect this. “He won’t. He is leaving.” I say glaring at Gael. “Okay.” Larry lets him go after gripping his hand hard for the last time. He is enjoying this. “leave Gael.” I say bitterly. “You are throwing me out of your house?” he asks widening his eyes at me. “Yeah. You raised your hands on me. You wanted to hit me and you can’t stay here.” I say shutting my eyes. “I came here to surprise you.” He says calmly. I notice Larry taking a seat and take a deep breath. “And you have behaved terribly. You don’t get to raise your hands at me. That’s not accepted.” “That’s something a guy shouldn’t do bro. Never hit a woman.” Larry says lying on the couch. “You need to leave Larry. You two need to leave.” I say harshly. “I wanted to surprise you Myra.”   “Not a problem. Just go.” I say trying to breath well. “Really Myra?” “Yeah. We will talk tomorrow.” “listen to her dude.” Larry says chuckling. “You are leaving too.” I snap at him. “I can’t drive Myra. I'm intoxicated.” He complains. “You don’t look intoxicated to me.” I roll my eyes at him. “I’m.” he complains. “I will look for you tomorrow.” Gael says and walks out. “He is such an ass.” Larry mutters. “You are next.” I snap at him. “I’m sleeping on this couch sweetheart. Can’t drive while I’m drunk.” He says closing his eyes. “you should call your driver. I'm sure you have one.” I suggest. “I don’t want to call him this late.” That’s just an excuse of course. “Then take a cab.” “I’m not into cabs. Let me sleep here. We will leave together in the morning.” He suggests with a smirk. His eyes are still shut and I wonder where he got the energy to fight with Gael from. He has gone back to being drunk. “Suit yourself.” I mutter and walk to the kitchen. I take a bottle of water from the fridge and pour some into a glass. I gulp it down thinking about what Gael wanted to do. He wanted to slap me. Gael? Since when? How did he turn out this way? Raising his hand on me? This is not the Gael I know I know he is pissed but it doesn’t give him a right to raise his hand on me. That’s so unmanly. He should try and grow up. I don’t care whether he has been away for those months but he doesn’t get to control me. I hate being controlled. I decide to carry some water into my room. I take the bottle of water and walk back into the living room. Larry is already snoring softly. He must be so intoxicated. I take a duvet from the other room and cover him. Can’t help but see how innocent he looks in his sleep. I smile and go to my room. It’s been a long day but I finally manage to sleep.
