Imprisoned by the demands

I was having a dream about seeing my father when I heard the creaking of the dungeon door. We were back in our home and both laughing over dinner. It was nice to see him again even though it was my dream, but that didn’t end well because as soon as the doors opened, the dreams faded, and in front of me, my father had his throat slit, and I screamed out loud, fluttering my eyes to reality.

The gamma's blazing green eyes stared back at me as he snapped his fingers over my face and kicked my legs. ‘’Wake up, human!’’ he ordered.

The pain from my legs set in, and I winced silently as I rose from the ground. I wondered what had happened again for him to show his face in the dungeon again. It's been a day since I almost lost my head and also made a deal with the devil.

Ever since then, I have not seen him, and it was not as if I was expecting him to pop up, but because of the things that he could make me do.

I feared for my life, hoping that when I saw him again, he wouldn’t have me doing ridiculous things.

The night I spent with him was already embarrassing enough, and I didn’t want to have more of it.

‘’stand up, human!’’ The gamma dragged me by the collar of my robe and pulled me up, pinning me against the door. ‘’didn’t you hear me the first time, or are you forgetting that you are no longer a princess!’’ he shouted my, face hitting my head against the door.

Maria screamed beside me and covered her eyes while Maverick, who was in the opposite cell, whimpered silently. He had not yet recovered from injuries, and I hate that he was trying so hard to support me again. If not for me, he wouldn’t be in that situation, and now, he could be in trouble again if the gamma spotted him trying to side with me.

‘’I will be fine, Maverick!’’ I quickly shouted his name, but he rose and hit his cell door instead.

‘’Let her go!’’

The gamma didn’t respond to him and grabbed me by the hair, pulling me out of the dungeon amidst the cries of the women and the continuous screams of Maverick.

‘’I will be fine!’’ I shouted to Maverick, assuring him that I would return to him even though I was not certain of where the gamma was taking me. His pulling me away shows he had something against me, possibly because the alpha king saved me.

After getting dragged by his hair for over ten minutes while turning and turning down hallways that I had no idea where they were leading us, I decided to question him. ‘’where are you taking me to?’’ I demanded.

‘’Don’t you dare question me!’’ The gamma shouted at me, slamming me against the wall; he grabbed hold of my shoulder, gripping it hard, and then pinned his other hand on my neck, making it hard to breathe. ‘’You are just a useless human, and just because the alpha king favors you doesn’t mean you can question me. I could end your life right now, but I would let you live because you are still needed!’’ he pushed my head backward, his fingers digging deep into my skin. The wall seemed to close around me, making my head spin. I tried to shake the helplessness, but it was hard to resist his crushing strength.

He seemed stronger than me, but it didn’t stop me from speaking up. ‘’I may be human, but at least I can ask questions whenever I can, and there is nothing you can do about it.’’

The gamma’s face twisted into a cruel smile as he burst into laughter. ‘’Delusional,’’ he pushed my head again. ‘’You must think you are special,’’ he sneered at me. ‘’I don’t think you realize what you are!’’ he leaned closer until I could feel his breath fanning my neck. ‘’ you don’t have a place here, and you are alive because the king wants you on his bed. once he is tired of you, I will make sure that you are feed to the hungry wolves.’’

I visibly gulped at his threat because he didn’t look like he was joking. He chuckled.’’ I will get rid of you sooner or later. Enjoy your time with him, human, because it won’t last,’’ he pushed my head backward one last time before releasing me.

I gasped for breath, rubbing my burning throat. I stumbled forward and looked up to see the fury in his eyes. His hatred for me was much more different from Voridian’s. He looked like he was ready to kill me on the spot if he had the chance, which made me wonder what I might have done wrong unless he was the secret lover of voridian and thought that I had slept with him, which was never going to happen, ever.

‘’Move!’’ he ordered, indicating I should walk before him.

My legs slowly carried me forever, and I tried to process what had just happened now, knowing that it was going to happen again unless I found out the reason he hated me other than being a human.

My throat ached from his grip, and I couldn’t help but rub it gently, wincing at the tender spot.

We walked in silence, and the only sound was the creaking of the wooden floorboards beneath our feet. I didn’t bother to ask anymore questions, just letting him take me to where he was heading.

Finally, we reached a large wooden door that swung open with a gentle push from the gamma. The room was a grand dining hall, and I recognized it because the sign was just like the one back in my home, except that it was bigger.

‘’you are here,’’ Voridian’s voice sounded from the head of the table.

At the sound of his voice, my heart responded, pounding quickly. He was seated with his hands folded and his eyes intently fixed on me as I entered.

The sweet smell of freshly baked pastries and roasted meat wafted through the air, infiltrating my nostrils and teasing my senses. I looked at the food on the table and felt my stomach growling with hunger. Roasted meats, golden-brown turkey, succulent lamb sat alongside steaming vegetables, golden brown bread, and an array of colorful fruits. The aroma of the different meals on the table made my mouth water, making me realize that I hadn’t eaten in days, and the sight of all the food was almost overwhelming.

My stomach rumbled again but loudly in the silent hall, betraying my hunger. I saw a smile spread on Voridian’s face, and I knew he would forever tease me about it.

‘’you may leave us now, Thane,’’ Voridian said to the gamma.

Thane bowed and gave me one last nasty glare before walking out of the hall, leaving me and Voridian alone.

‘’Princess Elowen. You must be hungry,’’ he uncrossed his arms and pointed to the food on the table. ‘’how hungry are you?’’ he stood up and walked towards me. ‘’I believe that you are starving, so,’’ he gently pushed me towards a chair, his hand rubbing my back. The chair was the closest to him, and once he ensured I was seated, he asked the question again. ‘’How hungry are you?’’

I didn’t respond, so I'm unsure of how to answer. On the other plans, my stomach growled loudly again, making Voridian laugh. ‘’I think that your stomach has answered for you,’’ he said, sitting on his chair. ‘’Well, I invited you here for you to eat Elowen; otherwise, you might die, and that would be too pitiful…especially since it won’t be by my hand. What fun will that be?’’

What fun would that be? His words resounded in my mind, and I knew that he could read my thoughts and how hungry I was. That was enough embarrassment, and I didn’t care about what he thought at that moment. So, I tried to pick up bread, my hands shaking slightly, but he stopped, his hand closed around mine.

‘’not yet,’’ he said, grinning wickedly at me. ‘’First, you have to do something for me.’’

My heart skipped a beat as I looked up at him. I had expected that he would say something. There was no way that he would allow me to eat without having other thoughts about me. ‘’since you offered yourself to me yesterday to save your life and that boy’s, what you will do now for me would either make me pardon the humans and freed them or they continue to rot in that cell, hungry and cold.’’

I shifted on the chair, bracing myself, knowing I had no choice but to agree with him. This was for the humans surviving on stale food for days. For them, I was willing to do anything. ‘’what is your bidding?’’

Voridian chuckled and leaned back in his chair. His eyes glinting with amusement. ‘’strip!’’

The room suddenly fell silent as soon as he finished saying that. My breath caught in my throat, and for a few seconds, my heart stopped trying to process what I had just heard.
