The silence in the room was overwhelming, and neither of us said anything for a few minutes until Voridian repeated himself. ‘’ you heard me, princess. I can listen to your heart racing fast with different thoughts about how you could escape from me, but need I remind you that you made a deal with me, and you can’t back out now.’’

A deal? This was not the kind of deal that I signed up for. How could he even ask me to strip right in front of him? My life would be over once I did that because not only would he trample on my pride, but he would also make me feel worthless.

Only our soulmates were allowed to see our nakedness except if he had the night that he changed my dress.

‘’Don’t worry about that because I was not the one who changed you,’’ he responded quickly since he was reading my thoughts, intruding on my personal space. ‘’ My maid did that. What do you think that I am? A hedonist,’’ he scoffed and shook his head. ‘’ You are nothing special, Princess.’’

Nothing special? The way he said it made me feel as if something was missing from me, and I shouldn’t care about his opinions, but I couldn’t stop thinking about what he thought of me.

‘’just do what I ask of you, princess?’’

I stood up and placed my hand around my body. ‘ I don’t know what you think of me, but there is no way I am going to strip for you.’’

Voridian laughed. ‘’still trying to be defiant even when the human's lives are in danger, and they could die from starvation. Do you care about yourself in this situation?’’ he placed his hands on the table and drew a circle with his fingers. ‘’ if you don’t do my bidding, I shall order for that boy to be executed right now!’’

‘’you can’t do that!’’ I retorted.

There was no way I would ever strip for him. How could he even think of ordering things I didn’t want to do? ‘’ There is no way I am going to strip for you!’’

Voridian said nothing and laid back on his chair, folding his arms together. ‘’if you are not going to do that, then prepare to starve while you watch the boy die.’’

‘’I will do anything else aside from stripping!’’

Voridian shrugged his shoulder. ‘’ That is not what I want, princess. You should know that a king never goes back on his word. Do it or watch your people starve and your boyfriend end up dead.’’

My boyfriend? That was who he thought Maverick was. No wonder he was bent on using him against me because he felt that he was a leverage he could use against me anytime.

‘’I can’t strip, and Maverick is not my boyfriend. ‘’ I clarified.

He raised his brows in confusion at me, and then he sighed. ‘’I don’t care what he means to you, princess. Talking to you now is making me lose my patience, and if you don’t do what I ask of you in ten seconds, then I shall get rid of your boyfriend and make your people starve to death, and as for you, I shall…’’ he paused and chuckled lightly. ‘’you don’t even want to know the things that I will do to you!’’ The way he had said it sounded as if he sounded a warning to me, and at the same time, it sounded threatening. For the first time since we met, I feared him and the things he could do to me.

‘’wha…’’ my voice broke as I tried to ask him a question, and I quickly looked away, embarrassed of myself and how he was making me feel.

Helpless.

Maybe it was because I cared a lot about Maverick, or I didn’t want any of my people to starve; I couldn’t figure it out because of how he made me feel. ‘’I…’’ I slowly raised my head to face him and noticed the anticipation in his eyes, as if he was waiting for me to strip immediately.

What do I know? He was reading my thoughts and knew what I wanted to do, so there was no reason to speak again.

For Maverick and the humans, I had to forget that I was royalty and do the devil’s demands. After all, I signed up for it when I made the deal with him. There was no going back now, and even though I would be reminded about it, I had no options since he was bent on making life a living hell for me.

"I will do it!" I agreed, almost biting my tongue, but I didn’t anyway. I was not going to let him see through me, so I stopped thinking about anything until the show was over and then shut my eyes, hoping that I wouldn’t be able to see his pathetic eyes staring at my body.

Heaving a deep sigh, I placed my hand around my belt and let it fall to the ground. ‘’Do it while standing up, princess.’’ He demanded.

Yet again, he was making things difficult for me. I had thought that I would be able to save my face if I did it while being seated, but now, he wanted me to stand up and expose myself to him. That was brutal, and I didn’t know if I should cry or not because I never imagined that I would have to face such humiliation.

Memories of the night when he had cared for me came rushing back, and I never expected such disrespect from him, even though Voridian was a psychopath who derived pleasure from the pains of his victims; never did I imagine that he would ridicule me this much.

‘’what are you waiting for, princess? And don’t close your eyes. I want your eyes to be wide opened while you strip in front of me,’’ he chuckled, laying back yet again and rubbing his hands together. ‘’I don’t have all day.’’

I clenched my hands against the robe's fabric as I let it down, revealing my white underwear. I felt exposed since this was the first time I was stripping in front of a guy.

My eyes fluttered open, but I lowered my head to avoid looking at him because I knew he was enjoying how my heart was pounding, how I was about to be humiliated by him, and how he was going to tease me about it forever.

‘’come closer!’’ he ordered, and I wanted to scream at him to stop forcing me to do things that I didn’t want to do.

Stripping was humiliating enough, and now, I have to do it while so close to him. ‘’ I want to see you Naked in front of me.’’

That made me lose it.

There was no way I would let him destroy my dignity over a meal because I was trying to protect Maverick and the others. I might have been selfish because I didn’t succumb to his orders, but the humans and Maverick would be proud of my actions. They would be proud of me for not allowing him to walk over me and make me feel less about myself.

‘’I can’t do this,’’ I shouted at him, picking up my robe and belt from the ground and wrapping it around my body. ‘’ There is no way you can force me to do what I don’t want to,’’ I wrapped the belt around the robe. ‘’Do what you want, alpha king, but there is no way you can change my mind!’’

I knew what was coming after that. I expected him to scream or even threaten me with more cruel words, but instead, he smiled.’’ So you instead let your people starve to death and let your boyfriend die because of your pride?’’

I nodded. ‘’ I am sure that they will understand.’’

Voridian chuckled and stood up from his chair, walking towards me. With each step he took, I felt his overwhelming power, and his presence made me feel like a scaredy cat. I had to take two steps backward, hoping to escape him, but I hit the table instead.

He moved closer until there was no space in between and leaned closer to me. I held onto the table, my legs shaking vigorously and my heart pounding quickly. He was too close, too close, that I could smell his intoxicating cologne.

‘’you won’t regret this, right?’’ Voridian asked as he placed his hands around the belt, tightening it around my waist.

I didn’t know how to reply because I knew how tricky he was; if I did, he could come up with something else. ‘’ Princess, keep playing with fire, and you will burn,’’ he chuckled, caressing my face. ‘’ You just broke our deal, and you will…’’ he whispered into my ears. ‘’suffer for it.’’ he pulled away. ‘’Guards!’’ he shouted, but no anger was detected in his tone.

The guards came rushing in and bowed in front of him. ‘’Take her back to the dungeon,’’ he ordered.

''Yes, Your Highness,'' They responded and grabbed my hand, pulling me towards the door.

‘’Are you going to kill them?’’ I asked him just before the door closed in my face.

‘’Time will tell Elowen if I will kill you all or not.’’ His response resounded in my head as I was pulled down the hallway.
