~THANE~
Anger.
I hadn’t felt that in a while, not until I met the human princess. Everything about her made me angry, and I could sense that she was going to be a danger soon. The alpha king did not save anyone unless they meant something to him.
He was a ruthless man who didn’t care about anyone else, so I was shocked when he decided to save her life when she should have died. Even his pity excuse, I didn’t buy it because there was no way that he could have saved her just because he wanted her to warm her bed. I had suspected there was so much more because why else would he, the alpha king, take a human who suddenly went into heat to his room just to sleep with her?
For another reason, I figured the human princess already had a maid in the kingdom, but I still couldn’t figure out who it was. My first guess was the alpha king, but after the little stunt, he pulled at the execution ground. I didn’t know what to believe any longer, but no matter what it was, I wanted to find out.
As I walked towards the dungeon to check on the humans, I noticed that the guards were moving some of the humans out of the dungeon and leading them out in a straight line to wherever he was taking them.
I quickly rushed forward, curious about what was happening and why he was doing that. Then I saw where he was leading the humans, too—the abandoned building that had been left for years without anyone to occupy. Curiosity got the best of me when I stopped the guards leading the humans by standing before him and asking questions.
‘’May I ask what is happening here?’’ I demanded, looking back at the humans who showed little hope on their faces. They all murmured excitedly amongst themselves, and that was the first time since they came that I had seen them looking happy. ‘where are you transporting the humans too?’’
‘’The alpha king’s order. He asked me to remove them from the dungeon to the building.’’
surprise flashed in my eyes because I had expected the alpha king to tell me about it. Still, instead, he ordered the guards, which only meant that he was hiding something related to the human. ‘’oh!’’ I pretended not to be surprised and then looked at the humans, staring into their faces and searching for a certain someone and then I saw her being brought out of the dungeon by one of the guards. Just like the rest of the humans, happiness was written all over her face, and I wondered what the alpha king had done to make her look that happy.
I hated it. If there was one thing I hated the most, it was seeing others happy, especially those who should be in misery. Curious to find out about what was making her and the rest of the humans happy, I followed them towards the building. As we neared the building, the smell of freshly baked bread hit my nose, and I walked faster to see that large tables with large feasts were set in the courtyard of the building, and all the humans rushed in to sit down.
How could this be? I thought. I never expected that the alpha king would make such decisions to the extent that he would serve them a feast. And then I knew that he couldn’t have done it if it were not for her.
I remembered this was the same meal the Alpha king had prepared for the human princess.
Just what does she mean to him? I pondered as I watched her serve her people. For the first time since I became the gamma, I had never wanted to kill someone that quickly. Everything about her made me mad.
''please get here brother,'' My sister Illyana mind linked me and from her tone, it sounded real urgent.
‘’I will be right back,’’ I told one of the guards, walked out of the building, and headed towards the estate's west side where my sister, Illyana, who should become Luna queen, was staying. When I reached, I noticed the silence, the isolation. It felt like she was inside a prison of her own, and I couldn’t believe that the humans were in better joy than my sister. On reaching the front of the building, I met her reading a book, seated in front of a garden with her legs folded, looking as innocent as ever.
That was the problem with my sister. She was naïve, and it was the only reason Voridian treated her as if she didn’t mean anything. Yet, she still kept up with it because she told me that she loved him.
Who in their right mind would fall in love with a ruthless king like the alpha king?
‘’Hey, Thane!’’Illyana shouted as she noticed me. ‘’come over here,’’ she pointed towards the space beside her.
I smiled at her and headed towards her, but my smile faded when I saw my father coming out of the building. The first question I asked myself was why he was there and why he had come to the building.
It could only mean two things: meeting up with her golden child, who was my sister, or questioning me about the alpha king.
‘’papa is here!’’Illyana announced excitedly as if I had not noticed him.
‘’Great,’’ I responded, but nothing was remarkable about it. There was no reason at all for my father to be there. He was the first man who taught me how to hate, how to kill, and how to tell lies.
‘’Come here, Thane. I need to ask some questions from you,’’ he beckoned to me, and like a lost puppy, I walked towards him. When I reached his front, he gripped me by the shoulder and then began his questioning. ‘’why did the king act out of order in the arena?’’
And just like he wanted, I began to tell him everything about how the alpha king had saved the human princess, and the first word that came out of his mouth was four three words.
''Get rid of her.''
