Till death do us part

1928 Words
I wake up in the sand next to Oliver, my mate. God last night was amazing. It was like nothing I'd ever experience with anyone else. The way he touched me and the way we moved together. We fit so perfectly. He is perfect now lying peacefully in the sand with me tucked so closely to him. I couldn't help smile at him and the future we would have together. I run my hand through his sand filled hair and down his perfect face to rest it on his cheek. I reach up and place a soft kiss on his lips. He slowly starts kissing me back. He growls when I pull away. "We have to go." I whisper and try to wriggle out of his iron grip. "We don't have to do anything." He growls and kisses me again. He slowly rolls us so he's leaning over me. He pulls away this time. "Think of all the fun things we could do if we go back to a house. We can take a shower and climb into a comfy cozy bed. We can eat peanut butter cookies." I start dreaming about the peanut butter cookies I mentioned. "Then let's go get you some peanut butter cookies." He stands and helps me up. He pulls his basketball shorts back on and let's me pull his T-shirt on. He slips his arm over my shoulder and I wrap my arm around his waist. That how we walk all the way back to my dads house. My dad is standing in the kitchen when we walk through the back doors. He grins evilly at the two of us. "Does this mean…?" He asks. "Yes. We are officially mated." I roll my eyes and my dad shouts with joy. "Gotta link Cohen." My dad says under his breath. "Cohen says we are having a pack party tonight to celebrate. And the family is coming over now for breakfast to celebrate. Congratulations." He hugs me and shakes Oliver's hand. "That's fantastic but I need a shower." I say and start walking out of the kitchen and upstairs. Oliver runs up behind me and picks me up in one swift movement. He picks up the plate of peanut butter cookies that I left the night before. He then kisses me and walks us out the door to his house. "All you're stuff was moved here." He says opening the door. He walks us upstairs. And sits me on the bathroom counter with my cookies while he turns the shower on. He then walks back to stand between my legs and steals a cookie. He softly takes my wrist in his hands. "This is so gorgeous." He leans down and kisses my Peter Pan infinity tattoo. I can feel a blush spreading across my cheeks. "Thank you." I whisper. We then stand and munch while the room fills with steam. Oliver tugs at his shirt and I lift my arms so he can pull it over my head. He pulls his shorts down while I place the plate to one side. He slips his hand under my thighs and picks me up so I have to wrap my legs around his waist. He places me under the scolding hot water, just as I like it. He hands me my shampoo so I can wash my hair while he scrubs himself with his manly body wash. When he rinses off he moves over in the massive shower so I can rinse my hair and put conditioner in. While I comb my conditioner through my hair he scrubs me down with my lavender body wash (I use lavender because it's supposed to be calming and it just stuck). He takes the time to thoroughly examine my tattoos. When he runs his fingers softly across my back tattoo I shiver under his touch. Once I rinse the conditioner out my hair he kisses me deeply. He pushes me against the shower wall where I push the water lever off unintentionally. "I love you." He whispers against my lips. "I love you too." I whisper back. He kisses me again for about 5 minutes. He eventually pulls away and groans. "We've been summoned." He growls and steps out of the shower. He hands me a very fluffy, very big pink towel that I wrap around my shoulders and hold closed like I did when I was a little kid. He wraps a more manly towel around his hips. "Can we please not say anything about moving till I make my announcement at the end of the week." I ask and just the thought of everyone knowing before the time makes my chest butterflies go crazy. I look at Oliver and he rubs his chest. "Sorry. I'll try my best to block it." I say sheepishly. "Is that what your anxiety feels like?" He asks me with a mixture of anger and shock. I just nod. "Petty much. It's normally worse than this but with Carmela it's not so bad." I explain. "And it's like this all the time?" He asks in disbelief. "Not when I'm home." I say. He walks towards me and wraps his arms around my waist. "Then that is just another reason we should live in Mozambique." He says sweetly and kisses the top of my head. We then walk into the closet to get dressed. Oh god I hate all these clothes so I rummage in my bag wishing I'd brought more with me. I pull on a white bikini with pink starfish on it and a pair of high waist soft shorts with pink flamingos on them (basically my everyday wardrobe back home). "That's what you're wearing?" Oliver asks in surprise. "This is what I wear everyday." I say casually. "Do you want me to change?" "Not at all. I think I'm going to enjoy the view when I move in with you." He says cheekily. I just laugh at him. He growls at me and swoops me up so I'm slung over his shoulder. Both of us laugh all the way back to my dads house. Oliver puts me down when we stop in the kitchen. The whole family was here except for us. Everyone congratulates us and then we get stuck into breakfast on the patio. Kade plops down next to me. "So does this mean you're staying?" He asks cockily. "I don't know." I say casually back. "Come on he's here so surely you'll stay." "Oliver is not the determining factor of my decision. Can we please drop it." I shoot him a 'shut-the-f**k-up' look. "So sweets did you get a wolf on your 18th birthday?" Luna Dawn asks from across the table. "I did. Her names Carmela. She's stunning. Her coats the same colour as my natural hair." I give the basics on Carmela and she purrs at my compliments. 'Thanks Iris.' She purrs at me. 'I'm only telling the truth.' I tell her. "We all feel terrible you had to go through your first shift alone hun." Luna Dawn says from down the table. "It really wasn't that bad and I wasn't alone." I say but no ones really listening. "We should all go for a run later so we can see her." Lizzy announces to the table and everyone agrees with her. For some reason Carmela doesn't want to go for a run with everyone which is weird because she loves running back home with everyone. 'What's up?' I ask her. 'I know we're part of this pack but this isn't our pack. I don't want to be paraded around Iris.' She growls at me. 'Then we won't go for a run, promise. How about we go for a swim later? I know you love swimming in the sea.' I offer to comfort her. 'That sounds amazing. Can we go with Rhys?' She asks. Rhys is Olivers wolf so I'm nit surprised she wants to meet him in person. The cool thing about wolves is that when they find their mate they get their own link just like we do. 'I'm sure we can.' I say back feeling better that she's now happy. "Kat?" Someone calls me bringing me out of my conversation with Carmela. "Sorry I was talking to Carmela. What was the question?" I ask now turning my full attention to the conversation. "What's your new tattoo?" Leila asks her question again with a sour look on her face. "Which one?" I ask and absentmindedly play with my necklace pendant. "How many do you have?" Matt asks looking intrigued. "Well I have my color bone bone one and the one on my leg that I got before I left. I also have my ankle on and wrist one and my latest addition on my back." I explain and Matt looks impressed. He has an array of pack tattoos so he always likes to know about everyone else's. "I was talking about the one on your back." Leila snaps at me. "Oh my sting ray. It's a rememberance tattoo something we do back home for people we've lost." I say with a sad smile at the thought of KC. "Who was it for?" Luna Dawn asks with a kind look on her face. "Umm…" I run my hand through my hair and then start fiddling with my pendant again. "It was f-f-f," I look at Oliver nervously. "It is for my late husband KC. He, umm, he died in a boating accident about 6 months ago." I can feel the lump in the back of my throats at the thought of KC. Carmela howls in pain at his memory. "Husband?" Alpha Cohen all but shouts at me and now everyone's attention is on me. I nod and really zoom my pendant up and down my chain, my chest butterflies going crazy. "You got married?!" He's shouting now. I don't dare look at Oliver and I can't feel what he's feeling because I block my anxiety from him. "You got married to some man," he spits the last words out. "when you knew Oliver was your mate? He must have been an Alpha for you to choose him over my son. What was he, some fisherman nobody? Probably not even fit to be called a man?" He sat back in his chair cockily. "Yes I married him. I was married to him for a year and a bit before he gave his life so that I could live." I challenge him and defend KC. "He was a good man and I loved him dearly. I didn't deserve to walk away from that accident, we were both supposed to sink with that ship but he made sure I made it back alive." I stand from my seat and slam my hands on the table. "He was a better man than anyone sitting in this room. He pieced me back together when no one here would acknowledge I was broken. So f**k you!" I turn and walk outside leaving chaos and shock behind me. Carmela is fuming now. 'How dare he insult KC like that?' She growls out. I don't even have words to put to what I feel. I just strip and shift. Carmela takes of down the beach and recede into the back of mind to think about stuff. God it hasn't even been a ful day and I can't stand being here. I miss home. It's Thursday so I would have been having my weekly breakfast with Misa and talking about work and life and how good the cinnamon rolls are. I just want to go home.
